  • In this first episode of my „Ultimate Carry-On Travel Backpack Showdown“ (I couldn't find a more dramatic name 😂), I will be reviewing the Osprey Arcane Duffel Pack. As a minimalist traveler, this 30-liter carry-on travel backpack has been my home for two years and has accompanied me on many adventures around the world. I'll tell you what I love about this backpack and why it's the perfect companion for my minimalist lifestyle - and why I've decided to move on and try to find the next „perfect“ carry-on backpack.
    I hope this series is a fun experiment for me - and helpful for you, because I want to give you an honest review based on my actual experience with the backpack.

    I'm very happy to have found your channel. I started creating a list of travel gear and researching backpacks for traveling. I loved your video about "OVERREATED travel gear & waht I bring instead". I'm looking forward to your review of the backpacks... 😁

    I’m very curious to know your reaction to the difference in weight between the two bags.

    The nightstand necessities pouch concept is a game changer! It has made settling into new places while traveling more comfortable- like a little piece of home away from home. I’ve enjoyed incorporating that concept that you’ve introduced to me.

    I have had the Peak Design bag for a couple of years now… I’ll save my comments until after I have seen your review as really curious to see if your experience is similar to mine. Looking forward to the next video!

    Exciting new series! I love the Arcane Duffel, but I can see the space is an issue with the new camera bag. So, it will be fun to hear your thoughts re Peak Design bag.

    Can’t wait for your review of the bag, especially the weight. I also value a lot having a bag that is light weight, so I am very curious of your opinion 🥰🥰🥰

    Hello Maggi ! I would like to tell you that I really enjoy your videos, first because of your simplicity, cheerfulness and your straight to the point view and secondly because you're a European female as I am (I'm from France) so it's more relatable for me comparing to American persons for example with usually a lot of tech gear or female with a lot of make-up (and hair items) as I don't wear make-up and keep my skin care and hair care to a minimum... I bought the Peak design backpack (the 35l expandable to 45l) some years ago and after only using it twice I re-sold it because it was way to heavy for me (I'm 50kg), it was a nightmare both times 😅 So I went with a lighter and smaller bag and I try to each time reduce the amount of things I bring. I really look forward to seeing your thoughts about this bag ! Another thing : you told in some of your videos that you've only got two Ipads (no laptop anymore) ; I am very interested in hearing your experience about it (I'm considering that option but I'm scared - yes I thing the word is not too much ☺️ - because I have no experience in Apple products and it seems a completely different world ! I hope you are doing well and your husband is doing better and better... bye ! 🌿🌸

    That bag is so nice! I recently moved over to the Osprey 26+6 travel bag (can fit under the seat for pretty much any airline). I used to use the Osprey Porter 46, which is absolutely amazing, but didn’t handle smaller trips well because of its size. With the daylite 26+6, you can unzip the top flap to get 6 extra L. It’s a joy to travel with and the internal computer pocket doesn’t take up space like a dedicated pocket. Hope this helps!

    Great review! The rule of thumb is lightweight. Currently I do not have the Arcane but I have the Talon for my 1 bag travel. When going for 1 bag travel there’s no room for souvenirs for folks like us who don’t shop while travelling 😅

      ☺️ Honestly, I also still think I bring too much stuff on every trip I go to. The only trick is to bring less and less useless things each time I go. 😂

    I wish the smaller backpacks (that open like a suitcase) would have a waist/hip strap too. Even when hiking or having a backpack on my back when traveling I like to have the weight distributed on my hips etc. Oh and a chest strap too. I am curious about what you pack for day hikes when you are at your destination. Happy Sunday!

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Usually I don’t bring too much stuff with me on day hikes. Unless I have to stay overnight on the trail, I only bring some water and some snacks and a tiny first aid kit. My husband has a small, packable backpack and usually he gets the honor of carrying everything… 😂

    I love this bag! I purchased it after watching your past video about it. I’m very turned off by crinkling or thick and scratchy fabrics. This bag’s fabrics just feel really good and make me feel calm, if that makes sense. 😊

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That absolutely makes sense - I also prefer fabrics that feel like fabrics and not like a brick of plastic… And I have been very happy how this one held up over the years. It only has those few scratches on the front that actually look worse in the video than in real life (and tbh they could also be dirt, because I didn‘t clean it 😅), the rest of the bag looks almost like new. I wish you and your bag lots of amazing adventures together! 🥰

    Hey Maggi ,
    Love the Osprey. I’ve been looking for the Osprey in the green color you have . But no luck .
    So I just purchased it from Osprey in Stone Black yesterday . I can’t wait to receive it .
    Here is another experience I had with Osprey . I just used the Osprey all mighty guarantee on an Osprey Day lite 13L . I had it for around 10 years. They told me to send it in , so I did and about to 2 weeks later they sent me an email that they would rather send me the new model of the some bag .
    I received the Osprey Day time , Day lite last week . Osprey is such an amazing company.
    Ooh and I even got to pick the color on the bag.
    Hope your husband is doing well … 🙏

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the color I have is from a past season, because I have it since a few years already - I also don‘t see it anymore. Glad that you had such a good experience with their guarantee. Unfortunately, they don‘t give the same guarantee to their European customers (like almost all bag companies) and it‘s basically worthless. It is just for a few years, and only manufacturing defects. But so far, at least my Arcane is holding up very well. :) Let me know how it works for you! :)

    Great video. We are going to try to live out of 2 backpacks for a family of 4 on our 10 day vacation. What was the hardest adjustment when you started using just a backpack? I heard somewhere that the ideal weight for someone to carry a backpack comfortably is to limit the weight to 10% of your body weight.

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess the weight depends on the type of trip you are doing. If you travel by car and you don‘t need to haul your bag for hours at a time, then I believe it‘s less of a concern. I personally always try to stay below 7 - 8 kg. Regarding the hardest adjustment - it was a process. I already did a video where I talk about my „bag evolution“: th-cam.com/video/CPQmH5ulLlg/w-d-xo.html 😅

    Hi, thank you for the great review. Did you ever "check-in" the bag on a flight i.e. do you think it is robust/strong enough to "survive"?

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never tried it. My guess would be that the bag would survive it, it seems quite sturdy, but I am not sure about the contents inside the bag since there is not too much protection. 🤔 Depends if the content could survive being buried under other bags. 😁

    It’s hard to argue/compete with tried & trued companies with their kind of track record AND guarantee. I have the exact peak design bag (& color).

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I am extremely curious if it lives up to it‘s reputation. But I love and use their packing cubes since years, so I have high hopes. ;-) But the style of packing is totally different from what I am used to, so it will be a fun experiment. :)

    Id love to know the price difference between the arcane duffel and the peak designs. Here in australia the peak designs is almost 3x the price of the arcane.

    I like your videos, but I would like to leave a comment on an article thant you recommend. The lock for zippers. I ordered these from amazon. Nite Ize S-Boner. And frankly, they are unusable without having a pliers nearby, wich is not very partical when traveling.

    • @MaggiFuchs
      @MaggiFuchs  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for sharing! Mine are not easy to open, but I definitely can do it without pliers. Are both of them so hard to open? Maybe it would be worth reaching out to Nite Ize and see if you got a faulty model.
