My Carry-On Travel Toiletries (2023 Update)

- In this video, I'm taking you on a journey of carry-on only travel toiletries. Living out of my toiletry bag for two years has been a game-changer for me. I'm sharing my current packing list and tips that have helped me streamline my toiletry packing process.
If you're someone who loves to travel light and carry-on only, you know how important it is to pack smartly. And that's why carry-on toiletries are so crucial. They take up minimal space and weight, and you can easily fit all your essentials in one bag. I already did a video two years ago on my carry-on toiletry essentials, but since then, I've made some changes and additions to my packing list. I also upgraded my toiletries bag to a new one (thanks to PGYTECH for sending me one!). So, I decided it was time to film an update for all my fellow travel enthusiasts. :)

I like that travel toiletries bag. I am 72 now and have been washing my makeup and mascara off of my face since I was sixteen with soap. Beauticians would argue that that is not good for your skin and you need this product, this, this and that. Well my skin is in good condition and has never suffered from just using soap. I always moisturise my skin, night and day. Whenever I travel I always take soap instead of shower gel because with soap I can wash my makeup off, wash my body, shave my legs and rinse out some clothes. It's a good all rounder.
You are my favorite traveler - I so enjoy each of your videos. I found the hang up toiletries bag would flop over and you could never grab stuff with one hand.
Oooh, thank you. 😊 Well, as long as it’s hanging, it’s awesome! But when you can’t hang it up, it’s a challenge. 😅
I'm so happy to see you posting again. Much love to you and the love of your life! 💕
Thank you for posting this! I have recently bought a fantastic multi tool you may like - Victorinox Nailcare Card. It’s got tweezers, scissors and much more and it’s airport ready as it doesn’t have a blade. Another thing is wax perfumes which are durable and don’t count as liquid. I got a small tin that has last me 2 months now and i’m about halfway through it. Greetings from Poland, love your videos. 😍
Thanks for the tip!
Just want to mention you may have your Victorinix card confiscated in hand luggage. The fact that you have got through just means it hasn't been noticed or you've been lucky with the airline. I know someone who takes a cheap swiss army knife, sometimes it goes through hand luggage ok, sometimes they have to go in the bin so they're just replaced next flight. Any nail clippers, tweezers, nail scissors etc can all be taken off you - no good arguing with the security - so best to carry cheap & cheerful just in case, not so heartbreaking as when expensive equipment is taken off you.
Your smile is infectious!
Congrats on receiving PR/free products! You deserve it!
I'm so happy to see your smiley face (and that laugh) again.
Thanks for the informative video. I’m in the process of optimizing my own pouch so this was very timely. I love your point about wanting to be able to hang it and/or put on a counter.
Great, thanks. Only one thing, I use to travel with a mini mini hotel set sewing.😅
I have really missed you. So glad you are back.
Finally someone who uses a comb. I have straight hair and I could never understand why use a brush. For me a comb is so much easier to use.
That comb really works well and it‘s my favorite when I pack light. But I also have a foldable brush that I like - sometimes it‘s just nice to have that feeling on the scalp. 😂 So I alternate between them.
Yes. I took an ordinary toothbrush for a three week trip. My teeth felt terrible. Now I always bring my sonicare electric toothbrush.
Hahaha "not dropping them" - I loved this part in the former video :):):).
Hahaha, I am so happy I didn’t drop anything this time. The last time, I think I had to spend an hour cleaning up my mess on the floor. 😂
@@MaggiFuchs ❤️
Great pouch! I also love pouches! Thank you for sharing!
Love the update! Even the ambient noises just add to the enjoyment. :) Thank you!
Well.. I removed the 30 minutes of me desperately trying to get a full sentence on camera without him chopping from the video… 😂
Detergent sheets. They are popular now for regular washing machines. They can be torn to an appropriate size.
Love them too! I talk about them in my how I do my laundry while traveling. :)
Great video! I really enjoyed seeing the updates to your travel toiletry kit. It's fascinating to see how your needs and preferences have evolved over time. It's great to hear that you're taking steps to care for your skin with moisturizers and serums. Refillable spray bottles for perfume are a smart and cost-effective choice. Overall, your kit seems well-organized and tailored to your needs. Thanks for sharing your insights and recommendations!
i always look forward to your videos!
That blue seato summit bag!! My first video of you. Haha I still remember you accidentally pour out the toothpaste tablet and 😂😂
It was such a mess… 😅
Thanks!
Greetings from Canada! I really enjoy your channel. You are a very inspiring and smart traveler. I learn a lot watching your videos. Take care :)
Glad that you liked it! ♥️
Love your content, love your personality! Thank you for sharing.
Nice update! Really liked the new toiletry pouch. Thanks for sharing!!!
That’s an amazing update! I just purchased something pretty similar and I’m in love with this system ❤
You gave me some good items. Thank you
I'm always amazed by your packing methods. Happy to see a video from you! God bless!
omg.... you use just a few products and still looks beautiful !!! i wish i have that ability... i can't believe your hair looks this flawless just using a bar
I guess all the glory goes to this Anti Frizz Serum that I am using, it really works very well with my hair. 😅
Haha as you toss the bag over your shoulder!! 😂 Very nice setup! Oooo nice new toiletries pouch! Is there a group for pouch addicts?! 😂😂 But the pouch in a pouch has me thinking... I like the Sea to Summit as a shared "airplane comfort kit" when we are 2, it is the perfect size. But if one flies home early... so I split the kit into 2 small hanging pouches. And now the Sea to Summit is available for toiletries - but yes it is a little floppy. I wonder if I put a piece of plastic in the outer back pocket to give it more structure... but lightweight and still thick...do I even have that?! 🤔 hmmm will have a think!! Best to you both, Maggi!
🪓 always something funny! 😂I have a challenge for you: see how you can travel with the least amount of liquids. I know that you can buy solid lotions ideal for travel. Less liquids the better when traveling. It would be so cool that you wouldn't have to pull out the clear pouch at all and shock TSA! 😉
Challenge accepted! I think I can do it and I am already planning that video. 😂
@@MaggiFuchs I can't wait ...so excited! .💖 😍💪🏻 I'm looking forward to your video.
Many thanks. I plan to try the Lush shampoo and did purchase the Matador pouch. Safe travels.
Thanks to you I will give solid shampoo another try. When those sheets first appeared I gave them a shot and my hands were wet and everything's stuck together and it was a huge mess, kind of like when you dropped the tablets all over the place in your other video. But I get so many ideas from your work.
So here is my idea for floppy pouches. I just use the clear eagle Creek toiletries pouch and have for years and I thread a freebie carabiner through the zipper pull so I can hang it up on bathroom hooks
I think I know the sheets that you mean, I took them hiking once and had a similar experience than you did. Nowadays, I use solid shampoo bars, they look like soaps. :) Love the carabiner idea!
Dollar Tree has individual bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and a combo bar of shampoo/conditioner. You can’t beat the price, and the shampoo and conditioner bars are easy to use.
I love them because it’s all solid bars, and it’s one less thing for a wet bag.
One of my best life decisions, laser hair removal. No more razors, no more cream, no more cuts, no more stubble! 😂
That sounds like I dream come true! 😂 I considered it a few years ago but they told me it wont work well on me because my hair is too blonde, but I heard that may be different now… 🤔 So maybe I should start a new attempt. 😊
Great video! What about the dry oil that you use to use? I just bought some based on your previous toiletries video. Lol!
Still one of my favorites! But I ran out while it was in Brazil and my store here back home stopped carrying it, so I tried other things. :) I will definitely start using it again once winter comes along. And it would also be my choice for the next long trip, because it lasts so much longer than a cream. But now, in the summer, the Nivea Soft is rich enough.
How do you like the dry oil?
I purchased the recommended powdered "Hawaiian Tropics" SPF product that you use and recommended. There were no instructions on how to get the powder to feed into the brush. I finally gave up and threw it in the trash.
Oh no, I am sorry to hear that. It absolutely is a little bit of a challenge - and I agree, it would be great to know if there is an official method. 😅 I usually tap the brush on my hand until the powder comes, and my husband shakes it upside down. But I haven‘t found a better working sunscreen powder yet - if you do, please let me know! :)
I very much enjoy your videos! And this one was especially helpful as I'm trying to downsize the # of toiletries that I bring, especially liquids! P.S. I Love that Toiletry Bag! ... Could you share where you found a USB Cord for your Epilator?
I bought mine on Amazon. It doesn‘t really had a brand name or anything, so I was surprised that it worked as well as it did. It is hard to find for the epilator, but the mens electric razors from Braun use the same plug as my epilator, and they had more options there. :)
@@MaggiFuchs Thank you so much, That helps! I'll look for it among the men's electric shavers! 🙂
I use stainless steel ear cleaner instead of q-tips. And I'm going to try small humangear stax for all liquids/lotions as it's leak proof
Hi Maggi! Your trick about changing a cable for your epilator to a usb one is amazing. What is that cable called? I think I need to buy it too.
I just bought a no-brand one on Amazon. The epilator I use from Braun uses the same cables for their mans razors, and there the usb cables were easier to find. :)
Thanks for the useful video. I am on a long trip from Alaska to Argentina. I also use the matador soap pouch for my shampoo bar. The problem I now have is that I am running out of my final bar. Any idea where I could buy one? I am heading to Peru next.
Oh no! Never been to Peru, so I am afraid I have no experience there and my answer will not be very helpful. But in Brazil they had them in large supermarkets (at a horrendous price, but they had them). If you have an address in Peru for a few days, maybe you could try to order one online? If you google „shampoo sólido peru“ it should give you some results. Worst case, check the mens soaps. They often have 3 in 1 soaps that work for the body, beard and hair. They are not perfect, but they do the trick. :)
@@MaggiFuchs thanks that's a good tip about the men's stuff and the supermarket! Yeah I buy men's Shaving foam as its cheaper and managed to get a shaving bar in a USA supermarket. Just managed to find an independent store in Ecuador that had solid shampoo for $4 dollars so I'm set for now.
Love the bag, how is your husband doing x
Feels like two steps forward and one step back at the moment, but we are heading in the right direction. :)
Hi. What brand is your toothbrush charger base? I love my electric toothbrush!
I bought it on the German Amazon page and it was made by some chinese brand. I couldn’t find anything similar on Amazon.com though… 🧐 Here is the link to the one that I bought in Germany: www.amazon.de/AMATHINGS-Replacement-Electric-Toothbrush-Inductive-Suitable-Philips/dp/B09138XNM7?pd_rd_w=EV3KU&content-id=amzn1.sym.7988c4bc-fdd2-455b-80f0-bbfa2e28e4ef&pf_rd_p=7988c4bc-fdd2-455b-80f0-bbfa2e28e4ef&pf_rd_r=H4D6R1J01YDRJ175NTD1&pd_rd_wg=iFfni&pd_rd_r=a27eb7c3-b4b2-48a3-81c7-de6b40fa974f&pd_rd_i=B09138XNM7&psc=1&ref_=pd_basp_bia_rpt_ba_s_2_sc

Do you have a link for the liquids bag? Thanks
The one I have is the store brand from an outdoor store in Germany. It’s called Frilufts Faray, available at Globetrotter. I know Osprey and Cocoon have similar models, but I am not sure about their sizes. The size of mine is 20 x 13 x 5 cm. Maybe this helps. :)
@@MaggiFuchs Thank you so much!
curious how you converted your electrical devices to be charged to USB? I'd like to do that with my older epilator and toothbrush as well. it would save so much trouble with wires and convertors.
I bought different chargers that had USB on Amazon. I was able to find them both for my toothbrush and my epilator. I don’t know which brand of toothbrush or epilator you have, but for example, the Braun epilator I have has the same plug as the Braun razors, and they have a lot of USB cables available (none of them shows up if I would search for USB cables for my epilator). I hope that helps. :)
Where did you get that clear pouch? I am looking for one that's similar to that.
I added a link to my current one to the description. :)
what is the brand of the vitamin c & retinol capsules in the blister pack?
I bought them from a drug store here in Austria (Müller), and it‘s their private label called CV.
hello can you post the link to the usb charger that goes to the tooth brush?
Hi Joshua! Unfortunately I couldn’t find a similar model in the US. I bought mine on Amazon Germany, it’s by a brand called Amathings. Maybe it helps: www.amazon.de/gp/product/B09138XNM7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
where did u find this transparent pouch to use with pgytech pouch?
It was a private label pouch from a store in Germany. It was already an older one, and since then it broke, so I replaced it with the clear pouch from Osprey - it also fits inside perfectly. :)
I tried to get UK airport security with a clear bag like this, marketed as airplane friendly, and they made me repackage it all into a 1L bag anyway. I've never bothered again.
Thanks for sharing! So far, I had luckily no problem with it with airport securities in Germany & Brazil. :)
What company makes the liquids bag? So many are 1 quart while in Canada we also require a 1 litre bag.
I bought mine at a local store here, and it’s their own brand. It’s called Frilufts Faray, and it’s measurements are 20 x 13 x 5 cm. I know Cocoon and Osprey make similar ones, but I am not sure about their sizes. Sorry I don’t have a better answer, but I hope this still helps. :)
I would appreciate you letting us know the weight of your pouches. That has a lot to do with my decision.
Thanks for the feedback! I can totally see how that would be useful. I was already thinking about it in the past, but unfortunately I rarely have access to a scale and I don‘t want to just claim the weight stated by the manufacturers or that I found googling without being able to check it (because in my opinion, they are usually incorrect). But I will point it out when something is too heavy to be useful or surprisingly lightweight. :) This bag I would say is a little lighter than other toiletry bags (the material is very nice), but that is totally based on my own impressions and not on any facts. Sorry, I hope my answer is not too disappointing! 😅
Can anyone tell me what brand is the transparent bag used to hold liquids?
I already posted it somewhere in the comments. It‘s a cheaper, store-brand one of a local german retailer. I am not sure of the brand name. But there are lots of similar options out there, now I use one of Osprey.
We bought travel electric toothbrushes based upon your suggestion.
Well, I would not go so far and call them travel toothbrushes, because they are rather bulky. But for me it’s worth it to bring it, because I travel for long periods at a time. :)
If you hadn't talked about the neighbor I wouldn't have known. I couldn't hear him chopping in this video :)
I cut 15 minutes from the video where I repeated the same sentence over and over and he always started chopping again in the middle of my sentence… 😂
Is the bag very heavy? Does it take a lot of space on a carry on?
The bag itself is not super-heavy I would say, but obviously it takes some space in the carry-on. There are smaller and more lightweight options, but since I always live out of my bag, I prefer a little bit more comfort and organisation. :)
Thanks for the update. Can you share the name of the product that has the vitamin C and retinol in the daily capsules?
I bought them in a store here in Austria, and it’s by their own brand (CV). I looked it up on Amazon, and I found a few similar capsules, but they are all packaged in glass bottles, so I believe it’s a lot less useful. 🤔
good video but your moisturizer, mascara, frizz ease, biore sun protection, and retinol boost are all considered liquids and should be in your clear quart bag.
… and that‘s exactly what I talked about in the beginning when I showed how I keep the liquids in a clear bag… 😉
I'm confused cuz you can't bring this on a carry-on... Where's the clear quart bag?
I keep one inside & when I fly I pack the toiletry bag & keep the clear one where I can easily access it.
