    Always try holding down its tongue with your finger while heavily shaking it up and down for 10 seconds, you can most likely avoid the trouble of taking it apart, worked for me and many others.

    The rim is an 18lbs white zip tie. You can cut them and the skin pulls up much easier. Amazon sells the zip ties, so you can easily replace it.

    Thank you so much!!!! I bought a brand new 1998 furby in original box today and I was sad that he didn’t work. The peeling process took about 1 hour but he started talking after 5 or so gear spins, didn’t even need to touch the motor or go for 10 minutes or anything like that.

    Disassemble tips were right on the mark. Thank You for that. Our Furby was working but not correctly. It would power on, say Bueno, snore and go to sleep. Flipping it upside down would wake it but again, Bueno, snore, sleep. Once we had the disassembly done we inspected everything we could see and found no broken parts or loose wires etc. We got it working correctly, sort of. We found that when it was first turned upside down to wake, as it is just starting to wake quickly feed it. The timing of flip and feed is tricky but it does work. If you have a Bueno Snore Sleep Furby maybe it will work for you.

    • @buwheal
      @buwheal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like MSA (Me Sleep Again), a somewhat common glitch with 1998 furbies where they immediately went back to sleep after being woken. Some have more severe cases than others, and are able to wake after a few tries. Anyways, if you just hold its tongue and flip it upside down, it has the same effect as the solution you described.

    Thanks for this. I had two Furby's that wouldn't start up, and the first website showing how to fix involved sewing and all kinds of things. Yours was better, and then I realized I could get to the motor via a small screwdriver going in above the beak with no disassembly required. Both are now working fine.

    I like this video a lot. I just bought a black Furby with grey eyes off of eBay for my roommate, that was used, but in good condition and was supposed to work fine. The seller even gave me new batteries for him and said he worked. My roommate just opened him today and we tried him out. He opened and shut his eyes repeatedly and then stopped. And then he spoke fine, moving and then stopped again. All we can do is get him to say something and freeze in the middle of his movement, but that's it. :(

  • @donc.8019

    Ok thanks for the video . My Furby has been in the closet for years like 30. I knew it had an issue. I put batteries in and it didn't work. I watched your video was able to take off the fur. Then I realized it take 4 batteries. there's two batteries in the cover. Then remembered what the problem was. it was the little tab connector from one set of batteries to the other. So now that the fur is off I will fix that broken little tab to see if she comes alive. And then I'll put the fur back on. Thanks

    Do you possibly have another little speaker to test it with? Also do you have any kind of tester to see if the speaker is getting power? That is what I would do first.

  • @LuckyPennyShop
    @LuckyPennyShop  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It could very well be the speaker. - maybe a wire that came off or just a bad speaker. You would need to get into it to see for sure. That requires surgery....

    if anyone needs to know this, you do not need to skin a furby to restart the motor. if you pull down on the top of the beak, it will open up and give you access to the motor.

  • @LuckyPennyShop
    @LuckyPennyShop  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You checked the connection from the battery to the circuit board? it could just be a wire issue. There is not much more you can do, you have tried the top things that usually fix them. Keep spinning that motor.

      I know this isn't related to furby but I have a Little Tikes Talking Pete doll made by playmates released in 2000. I'm trying to fix... His mechanic's are pretty identical to Amazing Amy. I took out the screw's & tried opening his talk box but it'll only open by maybe an inch. To afraid to put more pressure on it for fear of breaking his talk box to get to the circuit board. His talk box is some how fused with the mechanic's in his head. Is there any chance of opening his talk box with out breaking it? Or maybe having it slide out of his vinyl head around the neck area? I'm thinking if I can clean his circuit board I might be able to get him to turn on. I already scrubbed his battery compartment with distilled white vinegar & baking soda mixed with water. I then cleaned it with glass cleaner & again with a eraser but he refuses to power on. His battery compartment now sparkles from being so clean. When he came to my house he had massive blue battery corrosion in his battery compartment from double a batteries. If I'm doing something wrong any advice is appreciated! 👍 Wondering if he's beyond repair at this point... 🤷‍♀️

    This worked for me on one of ours that was broken. Some things i noticed though, The bottom of ours has a slit where you can see a plastic strap it is actually a zip tie so I cut it. the face part of mine has a screw on each side then it bends up. The motor thing worked for me! I reassembled the sides and put a new zip tie in the bottom and we have a working Furby. Thanks for the tip!

    You don't have to take off the whole fur. I have found a much easier way where you don't have to take the whole Furby apart to reach the motor. My sister bought a Tropical 1999 Furby and when we received it we had figured out that the motor was stuck. We took a flat screwdriver and, you know where the beak is? Just above the beak you can push the flat screwdriver in through and wiggle it around. Since the motor is right above the beak, you just wiggle the screwdriver around which should get the motor spinning after a few wiggles, and boom! the Furby should start talking again :D I have done this so I know it works.

    That sounds like a more technical issue. I would guess that something with the circuit board went bad. I have another video coming on how to take them apart to look at the interior and see if there is something lose or has issues.

    You can fix a comatose furby without opening it up, all you need to do is keep gently hitting it on the back bottom for a while, sometimes it takes ages but doing this jolts the motor into life. No need to open it. Worked every time for me for at least 30 vintage furbys so far.

    i read somewhere who pressed the lower mouth a lot, makes the machine going or something. so i rocked that thing, pressed hard for 15/20 seconds and both of them slowly started moving and now they're alive!
    bad thing is.. one of them has a very sensitive hearing sensor, it reacts repeatedly like someone clapped their hands or made loud noise, and then it starts dancing and dancing without stopping. so i'm putting this one for sale.

  • @xXiSammersXx
    @xXiSammersXx 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have no idea what needed to be fixed in him to be honest, all I knew was that when I put new batteries in him he didn't work at all. I took out the four screws that you showed in the video and looked inside to find no problems at all. When I was getting ready to put his fur back on I saw a screw at the very top of his head between his ears. I loosened it up a little bit and he started working again so I'm guessing it might have been pinching a wire causing him to not work.

  • @LuckyPennyShop
    @LuckyPennyShop  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That would be the 2005 Furby - We have only had the one in our videos and it was working, so I have never taken one apart. This really sounds like a broken gear inside.

    No problem and thanks...

    It could be a bad speaker or wire issue...

    We have not found any Furby repair person yet. We have had a lot of people do certain little things without taking it apart and getting them to work. So maybe run the basic tests first. You would need to search some of these comments. We can try and help

    I don't have an instruction manual handy - they are in storage at the moment- maybe someone can help. let's see if someone else answers.

    There is a lubrication spot for the gear. Maybe that will help. Also moving the ears and helping it get the kinked worked out might rescue her.

    Hi! Diane here! I sent you an email. LITHIUM batteries work when other so called energizers don't.... I have all my furbies ready to be sold, all brand new still in boxes, some VERY rare...I have the Angel furby/speaks in "heavenly" furbish...which I have no idea what it sounds like since never opened, had purple eyes too...

    It could be batteries, a wire etc... It takes time to see if there is something that is fixable.

    I have found it is very hard to get the fur back around base. I found some of three of the next generation furbies also, my favorite are still the vintage/original ones.......where can I post a picture for you?

    do you have any tips on how to get the sensors to work? or does that all tie in to the whole loose wire thing...? I recently bought a 1998 furby and the only sensors that seem to work on him is his tongue and when you lift him up

    I was really excited to give this to her because she had a Furby just like this one, when she was younger. I opened him up to check it all out, but there's so many wires and stuff, I have NO idea what to do to fix him. lol Any ideas?

    How do you feel the current running through the motor? What part would I touch? And how long did the spinning take?

    Can you do a video on how to fix the speaker or show what could be wrong with the sound?
