It's not even a generation thing, they had different factories producing all of them so you might get one done from a more crappy factory. And even from the same factory I've had differences with the way they're put together. It's always fun to find out what surprise you'll get when skinning a Furby
I have a collection of 1998s furbies. I've only cleaned my furbies if i get them used and they are super dirty. I never worked on them by taking the shell off. One way to get them to work is to keep patting there back for a while till they start moving and working again. The way to get it awake from the me sleep again is to hold the tongue sensor and flip them upside down. Me sleep again is a common glitch in 1998s furbies.
Very interesting! I had a couple of these little guys back in the day. Always wondered what they looked like on the inside. They're quite sophisticated! I'm glad you were able to get them up and running again.
Congrats on getting them all powered up!! They're pretty resilient but I've had plenty that were just dead. Kinda sad to see them all sleepy & sick... you'd have to feed them 20-200 times each & then they would finally perk up 😹
I honestly didnt think i had a gen 1. for what i paid for 3 broken ones, to get all 3 working, with the Mouse was pretty good. I only had the elephant one when it was new.
The Furbys in the thumbnail's reactions : Furby one: please end me. Furby 2: what??? Furby 3: I will just keep a straight face and stare menacingly and act like I am okay.
Still not done watching the video, around the 12 minute mark, but the reason different Furbies have some of these differences you're seeing is because '98 era Furbies had five different factories they were made in. Furbies from different factories have some minor differences compared to one another that really become noticeable upon skinning them. You can tell which factory a Furby comes from via the bottom of the battery compartment, or the white tag on the fur. In these areas are "factory codes", two letter long codes that correspond to different factories the Furbies were made in. These codes are EL, GE, JT, RL, and WT.
Great video, very helpful! What speaker did you use to replace the original? currently attempting to fix the same problem on a Gizmo Furby. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
I had a mute Furby too and I was in contact with a person that works on them. The brown stuff on the speaker is why the speaker is bad and that can't be fixed, so that original speaker is basically ruined and can't be fixed, just toss that.
Try using the debug mode to test these furbies (tummy and back sensor, then press the reset button) It makes a high pitched beep, let the sensors go, back sensor for IR test, Tummy sensor for physical test, more info online
Found the dirtiest skankiest one at flea market and after lots of motor spinning the trick that worked is spinning the little gear on the left front. Used absolutely fresh batteries as well as she finally after some time, a lot of time, is talking and farting. Didn’t watch whole video. Is there some optimal places to use lubrication?
I have a Champagne Spanish speaking Furby. I saw the wires leading from the reset button to the battery posts needed to be resoldered and I was able to do that, but then something weird happened. It speaks fine, but won't move. I have no idea if another wire that's for movement has detached somewhere. I hope you can help me with this issue. Thank you
this video isnt new so i donno if i'll get a reply but its the nevest i could find with acual tutorials, anyway i was wundering what screws to use for a furby? i have one i took apart to customice and i somehow have all the parts xept the screws (i suppose they disappeared in a void somewhere) what size screws do i need to replace them?
I think they were only short screws holding both halfs together, but for the actual size then i have no idea. maybe you can get an idea from the video and see what fits.
Furby alien autopsy. I have non-working Furbys that I wanted to fix and give to my granddaughter. The connector with the red & black wire appears to be powering the motor. I got no voltage there. I pressed all the switches and nothing. What supplies power to that connector? Is that a board issue? I checked the red and black wires coming out of the battery box and I got 6V there.
Probably the best restoration of these 90's Furbies that I've ever seen.
they did come out well, almost as new, and i kept all 3.
@@R_T_Ralph Brilliant

So cute. I have a Gizmo furby and it still works.

1:14 this one is a ladybird Furby from generation 4..I’ve got one and his eyes droop downwards so he looks kinda weird 😂
Do you mean ladybug?
@@skyshunts yes I do, that’s what I call them 😊

This is impressive! Love seeing them being fixed and brought back to life
I REMEMBER FURBY'S FROM 1998 THE 80'S AND 90'S WHERE THE BEST YEARS EVER ❤👍

i honestly had the most fun with these, but they wouldn't let me get a word in.
@@R_T_Ralph oh my gosh I have that elephant Furby to!

the red furby in the thumbnail looks like the rock

The "owl" is a church mouse (gen 1 has no purple plastic tag)
I honestly didnt think i had a gen 1. for what i paid for 3 broken ones, to get all 3 working, with the Mouse was pretty good.
I only had the elephant one when it was new.
When were the furbies in the video made?
How you tell is this code
(Factory code)(Day of the year)(last digit of year)
E.G. RL0089
RL, January 8, 1999
I love your humor, try repairing one of the new furbies aswell and 3 times like in this video.
They were sneezing because you took their fur coats off! ha ha
Well fur makes you sneeze if it's in ur nose so that's the opposite bro...
LMAO THE FURBY'S FACE AT 23:45
He's seen some awful shit lol
The Furbys in the thumbnail's reactions :
Furby one: please end me.
Furby 2: what???
Furby 3: I will just keep a straight face and stare menacingly and act like I am okay.

Fun fact, JT factory furbies have a far higher chance of malfunctions which sucks because two of my furbies (2013 and 2016) are JT
JT (jetta) is kind of a bad omen when you collect furbies (unless its one of those rare ones)
Great video, very helpful! What speaker did you use to replace the original? currently attempting to fix the same problem on a Gizmo Furby. Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
I found one from a greetings card. Just lucky it fit perfectly
@@R_T_Ralph thank you

Damm
My furby boom have that
Gotta try to find another speaker then
It's a shame there's no way of dampening the noise from the gears. They're very loud!
You can. Just lubricate the motors well. They still will make noise but not as well

love the 90sfurby ownd two not have another one
Wow, great job! Wish you could fix mine... lol

Yep they said, don’t use rechargeable batteries make sure they’re all the same batteries if not, then the Furby, can not work properly
I made that mistake once and my Furby went nuts 😳
Wait…. All of my furbies use rechargeable batteries but they are perfectly fine
mine has no sound i tried to fix but its so frustrating😭
probably best to replace the speaker, i was lucky that i had a spare part, i think from a birthday card.
This is why it’s financially smarter to buy them not working
Hi i have a o g melinnium furby and 2012 furby and they both work excellent
I have a millennium furby too! It has the MSA glitch, but it's still useable. :D
My 1999 Furby can not eat, it’s tongue doesn’t work. He is very hungry and unhappy. Do you have a solution .?
No fur on Furby = Skinby.
Your awesome but everytime you told em to shut up i boo'ed ya lol let em talk theyve been asleep for years 😂
