Through the years I have found so many thieves and incompetent liars. It's good to see them exposed. I confronted many of them when I would tow a car back to their shop. Speaking of a rip-off, the title of this video is pretty misleading. I opened it because I thought I'd be getting a lesson in how to catch most any thief, but it turns out that your lesson is about a very specific type of theft that is not all that common and hardly a big deal to catch in the act.
So, in short, you get to out some guy in public, and you mislead viewers with the title to sucker in as many people as possible. The fellow you are outing ripped off you and a few customers, but you have screwed over 1.5 million people out of the time it took for a ham fisted, butt hurt motor head to cry about getting a part copied.
Word of advice there my little cauliflower, your design means JACK unless you get a patent. Until then, we'd be safe in assuming that you also stole the idea from someone else. Get the hell over it. You haven't been screwed out of a fortune.

You can make and sell a tray no worries, you can't claim it to be a certain brand falsely though AND #2 if he was a dealer there would be multiple IP and protection clauses in the contract if the lawyer was half awake.

If you search Google for: "Reese Tuning warning" "Reese Tuning thief" you find other issues with them too.
I'm not the most knowledgable on this topic... but wouldn't most 'battery trays' look the same? Is that specific design patented? If 2 were made to the same specifications (which I assume they may to get that 'perfect' fit), wouldn't they look identical? It's like buying a 3rd party camera battery, or any kind of machined metal tool / component.

You need to stamp your logo on the top battery strap and another one just in front of the post, that way customers are assured that they have YOUR product and not a copy.

Mate, All the knock-off battery holder needs is a piece of 3mm thick rubber sheet cut to the size of the base of the battery (A cheap green craft mat will do), Put this inside the battery holder so it will be underneath the battery when the battery goes in and then fix the retaining/locking bracket back in place with the one allen hex screw - job done - the battery won't be moving anywhere.
