houses with kids inside could have kids wandering around at night or they could wake up and scream to sound the alarm. Basically meaning more people to raise the alarm that someone is there, and you don’t know that everyone is going to be in their bedrooms. Makes it a riskier choice than say a couple who would be in the same room.

    Quick summary
1 - Make it look like someone is home
2 - Make your life seem unpredicatable (fake dog signs, children toys, etc)
    3 & 4 - Pretend to or actually have a security system
5 - Strategically place the cameras (be mindful of sun directly shining)
6 - Establish trustful relationships with neighbors (they can give heads-ups)
7 & 8 - LOCK the garage door and secure the locking cable (they can typically unlock with a hanger)
    9 - Get a solid door
10 & 11 - Replace door screws with long screws (prevents getting kicked down)
    12 - Install a protective window film
13 - Defensive plan (rally point locations, routes, and communication)
14 - Have flashlight, weapon (sprays count), car alarm, and charged cell on your nightstand
15 - Fight for your life, have no mercy
16 - Keep distance from the attacker

@@goosesatan unlike homes, cars are broken into at night generally rather than the day. Think about it: The average thief who only wants stuff does NOT want to encounter a person regardless of their age, size, or gender. They just want to get in and get out and have fun with their new stolen goods or the money they make from them. So for a house, daytime is the best time to break in as most people will be at work. For cars though, you wouldn't want to break into one during the day, as the owner could come back to that car at any moment since most humans are active and awake and driving to and from places during the daytime. At night though, it's more likely the owner is asleep inside their house not even thinking about their vehicle.

Tip: My mom is a retired herpetologist (the study of snakes and reptiles) and she did deadly snake removal from people's homes for many years. Her vehicle had to have a sign on the back, warning people that there are potentially life threatening animals in her vehicle. The sign on the back and sides said: "Danger: Poisonous snakes on board" and to stay within a certain distance from the vehicle. I've never seen so many people avoid a vehicle as much as hers. They would sometimes run from it if they caught a glance of the sign. I highly suggest putting a sign like this on your vehicle or somewhere on your home to keep people away. I promise, the thought of snakes and death is the perfect mix of fear.

Just recently in Canada, we had a case where a husband came home and pulled up into his driveway and entered his garage using the automatic opener.
As he pulled in some more, a masked man snuck from the alleyway (right next to the garage where the husband parked) and stood against the wall till the garage door closed.
The husband NEVER looked behind or even GLANCED at his mirrors to make sure it was safe to come out and you could see that the husband exited the car and closed the garage door (hitting the button on the wall) and the masked man right there on the other side just getting ready.
He was so oblivious and that caused him AND his wife to pay the price because they were both murdered.
You can see this in the neighbor's surveiance footage that captured everything above except the actual murder.
PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU ARE IN YOUR TRANSITIONAL SPACES AKA DRIVEWAYS, GARAGES. KEEP GLANCE AT ALL YOUR MIRRORS! You are not safe till you are inside of the house, secured and locked up!!

Another thing we do is leave a light on downstairs and at top of stairs. We have 2 motion detection lights on the back of the house. Also be situationally aware. When you are out and about get off that phone and be aware of who is near you and what they are up to. Especially in parking lots. If I see someone approaching me and I am in a vulnerable spot I get my phone and pretend talk.

He is a handful, but a great guard dog. The put up flood lights, and cut all the lower tree branches up 8’. Easier to cut the lawn, looks great and gives me vision to all 3 acres around the house. There are a lot of pieces to this puzzle.

Well I'll be. I have a 3 acre property fenced with 4ft 2"x4" grid wire, top with barbed wire. My north line is .5 acre wooded all the way up to the fence. There are fruit and berry shrubs, trees, from east to west, north to the next property. There is virtually no sight line from my fence north to the next property. Would you suggest I go ahead and trim that, say from the fence to about 10 ft wide, or just trim the lower limbs? They are large mature trees. Right now, a person can hide right at that fenceline and I would not know it. The dogs have been a terror more than once, so someone is there. I have creepy dude on the other property. I hate disturbing the fruiters. But these times call for sacrifice right? My backup dog guardian is 120lb pitbull/catahoula mix, that holds down the east side, gate entry. Loves me to pieces. Not so much others, or chickens. Why he's cabled. He's cabled on a 75ft line, with 30 ft width to the house. Sorry for the length. I read your post and we are set so similarly, it all came pouring out. Thank you and God bless you.

The security camera in my living room gets a good view, and is higher quality than I expected, BUT it's not going to get a face unless you look straight at it. I think cameras placed low, and aimed up at doors are probably a good idea, as long as it's high enough that the dog doesn't trigger it every time he goes to bark out the front window.

I'm able to keep my schedule unpredictable. I never leave my doors unlocked or windows open. Never open the door if I don't know who it is or can't see the person through a window. If I don't know them, they will be talked to through the front door. Not opening it. If I'm outside, I pay attention to what is around me and am fortunate to live where there is some distance so no one can walk up on me quickly. Don't be nice ladies, parking lots are not safe, pay attention and if someone comes close as you are unloading your cart, put your cart between you and whoever. Tell them to get away from you loudly if they try to get around the cart. Always report an incident in a parking lot to the store once you get safely home. Never leave your car door unlocked.

    • @cynthiarothrock4255
      @cynthiarothrock4255 ปีที่แล้ว

Iv been known to hit people with the cart hard enough to knock them over. This happens in the store more than parking lot. And during the day. People with manners don't reach into your cart and try to touch your purse and don't reach over your cart to take the last item on the shelf as you are touching it.
However if they say excuse me or ask you to hand it to them I will either move or hand it to them.
      Manners mean a lot.

Also, ive heard never leave anything around outside your house that could be used as a weapon I.e. bricks, tools, shovels etc...dont use nightloghts inside your home because then anyone can see inside at night. When repair people come, do not walk them through your home, keep them ONLY in the area being worked on or outside, if they are doing outside work keep all blinds closed while they are there so they cannot peep the layout of your home. Keep a gun close by your bed. If they DO enter your home, you can exit a bedroom window and go to a neigbors house to call police.

@@cominatchawiththeyeet9398 You're running night vision. There is no advantage to using visible light over IR. You're only going to give away *your* position to an intruder. While they're inside of your home, which they likely do not know the layout of, stumbling around, pupils dilated, trying their hardest to make out any sort of light, you are now hunting *them* on *your* turf.
Personally, I keep a sub-machinegun with a 3-lug suppressor, using sub-sonics, and Suomi drum mags ready to go at all times. Once I pair that with night vision, an IR light and laser? If somebody were to enter my home as it is, they're sort of fucked. Do so at night? They'll think Satan himself crawled from the depths of hell to drag them down.

The garage door emergency release cable tip is GOLD! I've never thought or heard anyone talk about this. I've talked to my husband about the door screws and he rolls his eyes. He does have a point as every exterior door in our house is ether full glass or partial...the window film idea is another GOLD tip. "Fight for your life" is what I told my son when he was little if someone grabbed him. I told him that they will lie, do NOT believe them...scream, kick, hit and NEVER give up. Unfortunately we live in an uncertain world. Instead of adopting a victim mindset learning tools to turn things around in difficult and deadly situations is extremely important. Thank you.

Quick tip: If you get into a scuffle with a intruder, bite them as hard as you can on any visible area people might notice if they were to go outside so the police can link them to you using dental records. You also scratch them on the face. If you have a knife stab their legs so they are impaired for a short while. You can also use a speaker if you are playing music, press it against their ears and turn it all the way up. Use chairs or stools to hit them. You can put lead on top of the hinges of any doors in your house so when the door opens the lead will break and you'll be able to tell if someone has been there(it's a better hack for those who live alone). You can shine a flashlight in their eyes as well. Just a few tips, be careful and don't be afraid.

If you have a regular mail carrier (meaning your route has a dedicated carrier), get to know them a bit if possible. Especially if you have a senior or person with diminished faculties or if you have dogs. That way you've got someone who is in your area daily that is able to keep a look out.
I've rescued/helped many lost pets, seniors, special needs folks, disabled vets, and kids. I've warded off predators and thieves and got their identifying info to keeps as well as domestic abusers violating restraining orders.

Don't have children with smartphones that show the whole world where you live and what you have in your house. A teen girl next door was famous in school for her ragers with her friends at the her parents house while they were away and soon enough they were robbed not too long after. Don't underestimate the stupidity of teenagers.

I'm a survivor of a home invasion, it's the most surreal experience. The guys is now in prison, my attacker had both a pipe and a knife. I took the fight immediately to him and was willing to defend my family with my life. With some help of my step son, I was able to get a rear naked choke and choked him out...nearly killed this guy, luckily for him Im a decent person...not a killer. I ended up in the hospital from a blow I took from the pipe across my face... Doctors could believe I wasn't knocked out...i have three small plates in my forehead and eye sock...I will never forget my baby girl saying don't hurt my daddy...while I was on the floor choking the guy...I would have died for her

One of my favorite security items is my extra set of car keys on my nightstand. If I think someone could be on property or breaking in the house I set off my car alarm . I told my neighbor to get me help when he hears car alarm going off. We also have motion sensor flood lights.
