This really helped me notice my issues with control being my root trigger 99% of the time. Feeling like my control on a situation is slipping almost always what sets me off, thank you for helping me start being able to recognize my escalating anger and diffuse it before it consumes me. Thank you so much.
Thank you Dr. Snipes for doing this video on anger. I have had a problem with anger all my life. Anger serves as a safety mechanism. The problem is I have very little control over it. When I get angry, it goes from 0 to 200 in seconds. Then, it causes me to dislike myself. Thank you Dr. for making me aware of how anger plays it's role. You make excellent suggestions. The square breathing, unhooking, and the positive mantras, and keeping an anger journal are excellent techniques. Through your video, you have reminded me of the use of the BETA test. Distress tolerance tapes are helpful.
Thank you. Just being aware of why my body has a physical response helps intensely. I'm just starting in with your channel and it's like you are talking to me. I'm in tears with the trauma injury lesson. I would do anything to actually be able to speak with you.

I've been suffering from anger issues ever since I was in my teens. I'm already 33 now and I have a family, but I still can't seem to control my anger. While I do not lash out at my child and wife, it's my neighbors I hate deeply, and I've developed this reputation around our neighborhood of being the local grumpy dude. I hate feeling this way since it only leaves me with regret. While I do not want to socialize at all with my neighbors, I also want to be free from these feelings. Thank you, Dr. Snipes, for these tips. I will follow them religiously to hopefully overcome these demons.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It sounds like you’re genuinely committed to making positive changes, which is a huge first step. Anger is a natural, normal emotion. Anger is designed to keep us safe. When we feel angry it means there *might* be a threat and your body is giving you energy to check it out and respond if necessary. Nurturing anger, holding on to resentments or being aggressive are rarely a good use of energy. ***This video was based in part on Anger Control by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) The workbook can be found here store.samhsa.gov/sites/default/files/d7/priv/anger_management_manual_508_compliant.pdf

For almost 18 years, my tag line has been "have the courage of your convictions, or get them out of my face" I don't fear the anger or the rage anymore, It's why as an ENFP I can love so hard. What triggers me is deception, not the threat (cause like all ENFP's I have a certain level of elevated ego!!) So that is my trigger, inauthenticity, not so much fight or flight. The flight is not an option for starters. (again the ego) Stand for something, or fall for everything.

🙏❣️✌️ Quitting psych meds cold turkey left me with tons of neuro-anger. It feels Tourette like for I CAN suppress outside and let go at home, but man does it take an enormous amount of energy to suppress. In 26 months it has gotten better but I still feel like I have no chill, always tense, always painful tight muscles in upper back /between the shoulderblades. Ending showers with cold water helps a bit, but between a knocking out benzo on one side and the subtle effect of several calming herbs (valerian root, lemon balm, California poppy and many more, I take em all) there is being in an environment that is soft on the nervous system. I vacayed far away from the city on a remote island and I felt like a Zen master there! (Until I had to do bureaucratic stuff online in order to return home....) Add hormonal irritability from perimenopause and the fuse gets even harder to keep at a decent civilized length! The shame of having these outbursts is maybe even more of a burden than the anger itself. I know I have to have compassion for myself but not living up to your own standards makes me want to go in hermit mode which is also taxing on the nervous system for I need some human interaction preferably with people close to me but they are the last I want to witness my level of internal rage, for social embarrasment is one thing but knowing I singlehandedly damaged a connection feeds the cptsd toxic shame I work on to get rid off.

IMHO, what sit's behind anger, is betrayal. If you do not care you would not be angry, and the only people that can hurt us that way is people we truly care about. We can get furious at people, but that rage, that endorphin hit does not last long. Anger is far more sustained. Ask yourself, are you ever truly angry about people you don't care about, or do they fill you with momentary rage?
I used to be a sweet person. Then, I started dating my current boyfriend, who is super toxic and has anger issues. After a few months of being a pushover and a doormat, I stopped. I unknowingly developed this mindset that I’ll no longer let him push me around, bully me into crying (his anger only stops when I cry). I’ll always fight for myself. I’ll never back down. If he wanna fight, game on! I’ve become someone I didn’t recognize, always angry and ready to break up at any second. I now realize that I never really wanted to deal with anger because it’s given me safety/power/control that I didn’t have. That’s why I always let it control me completely. I need anger to protect myself. Now, this strategy is turning me into an ugly person. I no longer need it. I’m trying to think that maybe not responding (not allowing him to control my emotions) might be the real definition of control/power. Your video is insightful.
I am at a point where I no longer want anger to control me or damage things I don't want damaged... I want to finally master it and know how to deal with it

I’m really sorry to hear about your relationship. It’s clear that you’re committed to making a change, which is a powerful first step. One tip that might help is practicing deep breathing or grounding exercises when you start to feel anger rising. It can create just enough space for you to choose a response rather than react automatically. Another approach could be keeping a journal to track your triggers and reflect on patterns, so you can build awareness and develop strategies to manage those moments. Have any techniques like these felt helpful for you so far?

It’s understandable to feel angry when someone you care about, like your grandpa, yells at you, especially when you're just trying to communicate. It can be really frustrating when you’re not feeling heard or respected in those moments. One thing that might help is to try talking to him when you’re both calm, letting him know how it makes you feel when he yells. You could also practice taking a deep breath and stepping away for a moment when you start to feel enraged, giving yourself time to cool down before responding. Sometimes, writing down what you want to say beforehand can help you express your thoughts more clearly and keep the conversation calm. Remember, managing your emotions in those tough moments is a skill that takes practice, and it's okay to seek support if you need it. Feeling drained and off after an anger outburst is not uncommon. When you experience an outburst, it can be a sign that you're already dealing with underlying stressors or vulnerabilities. For instance, if you've had a particularly draining event, like the loss of a pet, or you're already feeling tired and overwhelmed, your energy reserves may be low. In such a state, an insensitive comment or an unexpected stressor can trigger an outburst because you don't have the usual energy to regulate your emotional response. Moreover, when you have an outburst, it can be both physically and emotionally taxing. Anger can trigger a fight or flight response, which consumes a lot of energy. If you're already vulnerable due to stress, illness, or fatigue, you have less energy to deal with additional stressors, making it more likely to react with an outburst. After the outburst, you might feel drained because your body has expended energy in the emotional response, and you may also experience feelings of regret or frustration about the situation. Understanding the factors that contribute to such reactions can be helpful. It's important to recognize that triggers can cause a reaction based on past experiences where a certain behavior was either rewarded or punished. If lashing out has previously helped you gain control of a situation, it might become a repeated response in similar situations. To manage this, consider strategies like mindfulness, stress management, and emotional regulation techniques that can help you maintain your energy reserves and respond more effectively to stressors. If you're interested in learning more about these strategies, I cover them in detail in my "Dialectical Behavior Therapy DBT Made Simple" series th-cam.com/play/PLcB3trehXswh7N1BDbTKZGO0iGhkOeYWG.html&si=ng4jEXlY1p936Qi3 .

The Devil's Prayer The Devil's Prayer It is the prerogative of night, when thoughts, like relentless waves, break on the impressionable sands of the mind. Questions, theories, and suppositions come crashing ashore, and just like waves, they disappear into the grains of the mind without a trace. In this sea of uncertainty, stormed by nocturnal nightmares, the mind slips in and out of consciousness. It is the melting pot where logic and fantasy combine until supposition becomes hypothesis and hypothesis morphs into unsubstantiated fact.

The reason why Im messaging you is because I want to know Is it better for a person to grunt or go on a verbal rampage for hours? For 2 months he has just cried and rocked himself to sleep and then it turned into angry grunting. Grunting is a new thing and I have been seeing him do that for the past four weeks because he is very upset about something very legit. Talking about the legit issue even in a sweet caring way just makes things worse. His young childrens mom is extortioning him and suddenly decided to keep their kids in another country and leave him in the USA. He cant afford a lawyer by himself.
Acknowledge Your Feelings: Recognize and accept the range of emotions you may be experiencing due to the custody situation, such as anger, sadness, or fear. It's important to validate your own feelings as a normal response to a stressful event. Maintain Consistency for Children: Strive to keep consistent rules and routines for your children to provide them with a sense of stability and security. This can also help you by establishing a predictable environment during a time of change. Seek Support: Lean on friends, family, or support groups to share your feelings and experiences. A therapist can also provide a safe space to work through the emotional distress and offer coping strategies. Focus on Self-Care: Take care of your physical and emotional health by engaging in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies. Self-care is crucial for maintaining the energy and emotional reserves needed to navigate a difficult custody situation. Communicate Effectively: When communicating with the other parent, try to remain as calm and clear as possible. Focus on the needs of the children and avoid letting personal conflicts interfere with co-parenting. Shield Children from Conflict: Protect your children from parental conflicts. Avoid discussing legal matters or expressing negative feelings about the other parent in their presence to prevent additional stress for them. Empower Your Children: Allow your children to have a say in decisions that affect them, where appropriate, such as their room decorations or activities. This can help them feel a sense of control during a time when much is beyond their control. Practice Mindfulness and Distress Tolerance: Utilize mindfulness techniques to stay present and reduce anxiety. Distress tolerance skills can help you manage intense emotions without acting on them impulsively. Set Boundaries: Establish personal boundaries to protect your emotional well-being. This may include limiting communication with the other parent to necessary topics about the children or setting boundaries around your availability. Focus on What You Can Control: Concentrate on aspects of the situation that you can influence, such as creating a loving and supportive environment for your children. Let go of trying to control outcomes that are outside of your power. By implementing these strategies, you can better manage the emotional distress of a difficult custody situation and support your children's well-being during this challenging time. It is alright to be concern or not know about what happens after this life. Fortunately there's a way to not suffer, not be in danger, not be poor, not get hurt, not have to work in vain, not have to feel any kind of negative vibe, and not to get tired anymore.
Imagine you will be invincible, immortal, and holy with a new, upgraded body to the core! Imagine everyone around you will be the same as you. Isn't that a delightful thought? It's true you or anyone can have eternal life.
All you got to do is to accept Jesus Christ 🙏 as your Savior! Once you do, He will let you into heaven during your day when you finally see Him!

Thank you so much for watching and for sharing, Bill. Wishing you healing, peace and happiness

It’s completely understandable to want peace without needing to socialize, and it’s possible to achieve that balance. Anger is a natural, normal emotion. Anger is designed to keep us safe.
When we feel angry it means there *might* be a threat and your body is giving you energy to check it out and respond if necessary.
Nurturing anger, holding on to resentments or being aggressive are rarely a good use of energy.

Quitting psych meds cold turkey left me with tons of neuro-anger.
(Until I had to do bureaucratic stuff online in order to return home....)
Add hormonal irritability from perimenopause and the fuse gets even harder to keep at a decent civilized length!
Thanks for watching. Wishing you peace, health, and happiness.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts
Glad to be of service and thanks for watching

It’s all about learning the tools and strategies that work best for you. Anger itself isn’t the enemy; it’s how we respond to it that makes all the difference.

When i get enraged it when my grandpa yells at me when I try to tell him something
Also, I appreciate you watching the video and I’d be grateful if you were to share what you found most useful from the video. Additionally, if you're interested in learning more about anger management or if you want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes

Does anyone else get mad and for some reason after your outburst you feel drained and off all day?

Thanks for watching.
How can i somehow read this protocol? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for watching the video. You can find the protocol at allceus.com.
I opened all my knuckles punching my keyboard simply because a key didn’t work. Then reopened them the same day by punching my steering wheel cause my vehicle was making an annoying noise. I felt like such an idiot after that and realized it’s time to address the problem. I’m always pissed off and I have no idea why. While I’ve only ever taken it out on inanimate objects, I don’t ever want people to see me like that.

I have anger issues to an exten that I refuse to eat as long as I'm angry, i loose sleep, i destroy things around me and I'm not liking it.
I’m really sorry to hear that you're going through this. It sounds like anger is taking a heavy toll on you, both physically and emotionally. It’s tough when it affects basic needs like eating and sleeping, but recognizing this is already a powerful first step. There are ways to start gaining control over anger, and it doesn’t have to be like this forever. Small, gradual steps in managing those intense feelings can lead to positive changes over time.
Have you tried any techniques so far to help manage or reduce those overwhelming feelings? I'd love to hear what has worked or not worked for you.

Thank you for sharing that-recognizing that anger is something you're dealing with is an important first step. Using tools like the ones mentioned in the video, such as identifying triggers and learning how to pause before reacting, can make a big difference over time.
What strategies have helped you manage your anger? Was there a particular tip in the video that stood out to you or something you’ve used in your own life? Let’s help each other by sharing what works!

The Devil's Prayer
The Devil's Prayer
It is the prerogative of night, when thoughts, like relentless waves, break on the impressionable sands of the mind.

@@DocSnipes recognizing my triggers. Using mindfulness to notice when I’m getting sad - confused - then angry. The reason why Im messaging you is because I want to know
Is it better for a person to grunt or go on a verbal rampage for hours? For 2 months he has just cried and rocked himself to sleep and then it turned into angry grunting.
Grunting is a new thing and I have been seeing him do that for the past four weeks because he is very upset about something very legit. Talking about the legit issue even in a sweet caring way just makes things worse. His young childrens mom is extortioning him and suddenly decided to keep their kids in another country and leave him in the USA. He cant afford a lawyer by himself.
Acknowledge Your Feelings:
Recognize and accept the range of emotions you may be experiencing due to the custody situation, such as anger, sadness, or fear. It's important to validate your own feelings as a normal response to a stressful event.
Maintain Consistency for Children:
Strive to keep consistent rules and routines for your children to provide them with a sense of stability and security. This can also help you by establishing a predictable environment during a time of change.
Seek Support:
Lean on friends, family, or support groups to share your feelings and experiences. A therapist can also provide a safe space to work through the emotional distress and offer coping strategies.
Focus on Self-Care:
Take care of your physical and emotional health by engaging in activities that promote well-being, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies. Self-care is crucial for maintaining the energy and emotional reserves needed to navigate a difficult custody situation.
Communicate Effectively:
When communicating with the other parent, try to remain as calm and clear as possible. Focus on the needs of the children and avoid letting personal conflicts interfere with co-parenting.
Shield Children from Conflict:
Protect your children from parental conflicts. Avoid discussing legal matters or expressing negative feelings about the other parent in their presence to prevent additional stress for them.
Empower Your Children:
Allow your children to have a say in decisions that affect them, where appropriate, such as their room decorations or activities. This can help them feel a sense of control during a time when much is beyond their control.
Practice Mindfulness and Distress Tolerance:
Utilize mindfulness techniques to stay present and reduce anxiety. Distress tolerance skills can help you manage intense emotions without acting on them impulsively.
Set Boundaries:
Establish personal boundaries to protect your emotional well-being. This may include limiting communication with the other parent to necessary topics about the children or setting boundaries around your availability.
Focus on What You Can Control:
Concentrate on aspects of the situation that you can influence, such as creating a loving and supportive environment for your children. Let go of trying to control outcomes that are outside of your power.
By implementing these strategies, you can better manage the emotional distress of a difficult custody situation and support your children's well-being during this challenging time.
