This movie has a very special place in my heart. It reminds me a time when I could fall in love from a pure place in my heart. Before selfishness, fear, and all the fucked-up-ness of life clouded my point of view.
@@SWEETWILLKINGSTON i always had this darkness inside of me, like an evil angel it took over many times. Like devil or dark twin, that’s why i have this pfp
The movie is an adaptation of the book and is fabulous. The soundtrack in my opinion is one of the most beautiful things of this movie. Also the begining with Pip and Estella, both being children: the kiss in the font, the dance, the inocent drawings. It´s like a new story based on the book of Charles Dickens. I Love both the book and the movie of 1998.
Greatest kiss scene is history even more so amazing because it came from children.... the look on her face after she kissed him was one not even most adults portray in scenes today.
This film is so very beautiful in so many ways. So many moving scenes. The kiss at the fountain, the wild impassioned sketching scene, the dance out into the rain, it's my heart its broken. And the music. Very underrated.
I finished watching movie 7 minutes ago,and before that(no kidding) 10 years or so ago. I was fascinated with the ' it's broken ' scene and i was searching for this movie for 5 years, for sure.Only words i had was 'can you feel it,it's broken' and that's how i found the movie. I am so satisfied and happy becouse i am able to feel young boy's pain on my skin and remember how grande Amor is.
I don't know that I would ask to be deserving of such a love. She treated him with such disdain that it's difficult to recover from loving someone like that. I doubt, that Finn, even though just a character in a film, ever truly recovered from all the pain she caused him.
@@ISEEKSPACE she spent all those years running away. She had been taught love is not real, not forever. She was taught at best it was transient and painful. So she ran away, believing it would only bring her pain.bshe was never told she would cause the pain and be the source. He loves her, if her walls come down she will be able to love him back.
This will always be one of my top 5 love stories. I absolutely love these 2 and I can feel their chemistry, I absolutely love it because it reminds me of a case in my life where shit happens and life goes on with all the bullshit we go through before we find the love thats always been right there infront of us.
Holy crap! No way! I remember when I was a kid and I saw that scene of Paltrow and Hawke kissed by a fountain. This was over 10 years ago, son! I just remembered that scene, and literally googled: "movie where girl kisses guy at water fountain" and found it in an instant. Technology, what a world we live in.
Damn! I swear this was me... for some odd reason it just popped up in my head and I couldn't stop thinking what movie was that from and googled the same thing. Thank the Lord for the internet
I first saw this movie when I was 8 on a TV, that kissing scene never leave my mind. Never get the chance to watch it again until I did the same move hahaha :D
Woah, same here.. It has kinda haunted me. I was about 9 years old watching it.Then sometimes it appears in my head, but i didnt know if it really was a movie or something that I made up in my head until now. So today I just googled it. And there it was haha..
I fell in love once... I still am, but I have to accept the fact that she is married now. Something tells me I will see her again one day. I live life with a hole in my chest. Her smile is impossible to replace.✍💭
A few years ago My Mom and I spotted Ethan Hawke in a vintage store in NYC..... he is a cool dude....but he wasn't the only star there..... It was my Mom😀 I love you Mom (R.J)!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU So much!!! By far my favorite movie and so so underrated!! Thanks again!! It made my heart swell, my eyes water and my throat get tight !! A truly great job!!!
Huh? Finn ends up being rich anyway. He made himself be successful so he could compete with the caliber of men Estella was dating. If anything it encourages men to upgrade their lives for the woman they love, but it’s a love story.
Curious, has anyone seen the original movie or read the book? I have and while I think they are both classics, I am a softie for this rendition. One of my favorite movies of all time
I love how he comes in a white suit at the end and basically saves her. His life has been good - he didn’t date women which would have caused drama while waiting for the woman he loved, and just focused on his art career and bettering himself. She says that life has been hard for her and you can tell it has been - difficult marriage to a selfish a-hole. So she’s trying to bring herself out of a bad life and bad choices she’s made and he’s right there to rescue her. She should have been with him all along but she had such a messed up view of relationships from her screwed up childhood/ upbringing. But he waits for her and luckily she comes around to the man who always loved her. Beautiful story.
I read this novel when I was 10 or 11 and English is not my first language so I didn't quite understood it but I remember hating Estella for not loving Pip as he did!! I am 25 now and I think I should read this novel again 😁
I thought I wanted to look this up to fulfill my childhood perversions from almost 20 years ago. But this was beautiful. A boy completely not expecting that the other girl would like us back, and she actually did. It's innocence. I can't believe that I was able to find this again.
I was dubious when I heard that my favourite Dickens novel was being remade in a modern setting but this is one of the best, if not the best, romantic adaptations of the story. It captures 'Pip's' love for Estella and the sexual tension between them to perfection. The only other film or tv version that comes close to matching it is the recent one with Jeremy Irvine and Holliday Grainger. However Gillian Anderson is my favourite Miss Havisham .. and yes, I have seen the David Lean version loads of times and think Jean Simmons is the best thing about it.
That was such great casting. Although Estella looks like she could've grown into someone more beautiful than Gwyneth, Finn looks just like Ethan Hawke.
My favorite movie, ever!
This movie has a very special place in my heart. It reminds me a time when I could fall in love from a pure place in my heart. Before selfishness, fear, and all the fucked-up-ness of life clouded my point of view.
I feel the same, my innocence, before knowing the betrayal
I remember that innocent time too. I was pure
ditto
Remember: Love is just as much about what you can bring to the table for the other person, as it is about what gap you can fill in your life.

Estelle: can you forgive me...
Finn: don't you know me at all?
we deserve all to love like this have so much passion .i wish i had something like that.is beautiful

I’ve been holding out on watching this for ages and man, this movie…..🤌🏼
The first kiss at the fountain is the most beautiful moment I have ever seen, even with it being a movie and already in the script. Lol
Muchas gracias Alfonso por ésta obra maestra..... Bendiciones a mi México querido

Estella was married too. But they eventually split so she ends up with Finn who always wanted her.
I've been married for five years now, and the love of my life got married earlier this year and has a child. The world is shit.
Finn : “Woow, that’s the biggest cat I’ve ever seen. What do you feed him ?
Ms. Dinsmoor : Other cats
Other cats
Oh. I love it! I love this film, the book and Charles Dickensl! :) What a beautiful story...

wow
I love love love this film!!
The story by Charles Dickens is a masterpiece! The moral of the story is that we should give equal respect to the poor and the rich.
You couldn't be more wrong
yeah.. totally not the moral of the story...
Huh? Finn ends up being rich anyway. He made himself be successful so he could compete with the caliber of men Estella was dating. If anything it encourages men to upgrade their lives for the woman they love, but it’s a love story.
So beautiful
You know what this is? It’s my heart and it’s broke. Can you feel that? 💔
Our movie! Llevo esta peli en mi corazón ❤
Thank you from deep inside my heart

Every rendition of a story touches people differently. Sometimes we see or hear what we need in the moment. Sometimes it resonates for a life time.
beautiful.
nostalgia
It`s my heart
And it`s broken.
The best film that I ever seen.
"Can You ever forgive me ? "
True love forgive automaticly.

Estella had a messed up upbringing. It wasn’t her fault. She did eventually come around after marrying the wrong man!
I thought I wanted to look this up to fulfill my childhood perversions from almost 20 years ago. But this was beautiful. A boy completely not expecting that the other girl would like us back, and she actually did. It's innocence. I can't believe that I was able to find this again.

Art is a division of pain- this movie is about it

I can never forgive, the details stay with me forever. My life is defined by rancor. I have missed out on large chunks of life but I can stand tall.
