When Hollywood was Still Hollywood, Gladiator was part of the Last Era of Great Hollywood Movies.
I would go even further. When western civilizaton still used to be something to look up to and be proud of.
Sadly is true.
My gorgeous wife did not like violent or horror films but as i constantly watched this film she loved the soundtrack and eventually watched the film and she loved everything about the film es pecially the music and Russell Crowe but then she lost her battle with cancer in 2008 and i am blessed that i had Anne in my life my for 17 years miss you and love you forever xx

it's true that
I remember going outside my house and my dad would sit there on the dock next to the water listening to this as he was reading. He died in my arms in a four wheeler accident two months ago. I like to think of him walking through fields in heaven when I listen to this song. God I miss him.
So sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is. My father passed in January of 09, he was hanging on and I whispered in his ear it’s ok dad you can go I will take care of mom and your parents and others are waiting for you, as I stood up he sighed and passed. My mother joined him in September of 2016. There is not a day I don’t tell them how much I miss them and love them. They say with time it’s gets easier but I don’t think so you just learn to live without them for now knowing that one day you will hug and kiss them again. Prayers for you and know he is waiting for you when it is your time.

Fuz Syed it is harder right now to look at photos and hear his voice but in the future you will be so glad to still be able to hear his voice and see photos. You can also in the future share them with your family. God bless you and help you while you go through this hard time and adjust to them. Take care of yourself.
That must be hard to live with those images. I recently lost my father who was technically my step father for the last 30 years and the kindest man I've ever known but I was able to visit him a few days before he passed. In that sense, after reading your comment I guess that I am lucky to have those last images. We go through life gathering images every day I think, in time, as they fade the most recent merge with all of our memories and it becomes easier to look past the harder ones and remember the overall. I was humbled by your comment, I hope that it gets easier for you soon and I hope you keep reaching out.
My Dad was in a coma with Parkinson's and my Mom was his caregiver. She was exhausted, so I suggested she go do something simple like have her nails done, and agreed to come sit with him so she could have some time off. She hadn't been gone ten minutes, and he took his final breath. It was his 80th birthday--he had vowed to make it to 80 and by golly he did it. I really believe he intended to save Mom the heartbreak of watching him go. I also feel so honored to be with him when he crossed over, to hold his hand like he held mine when I was a small child. Reading these comments I know our fathers hold such a special place in our hearts.

I never knew someone like you existed, both of us probably have aged souls deep within us. Even decades later, movies like Braveheart and Gladiator, they leave an empty void within Hollywood, that can never be filled ever again. For sure though, Leonardo DiCaprio if anything seems to be the exception to the rule, almost following in the footsteps of Marlon Brando's legacy.

This is the song which reminds of our very existence in the midst of heaven and earth, stars and planets, among the galaxies.
My son took his own life through depression 3 months ago, both he and my late father are my gladiators.
Ride as fast as you like now Andrew, I will be in your mirrors soon enough. Dad will always be fast enough to catch you no matter how far you go... we will all meet again.

We all know that death is a part of life but still it hurt so much and just like you I run into this music to find peace and in mind go back the the ones you love!!

My dad had cancer back in 2008 and I remember that day my dad was sick that day when my sister was watching this film at the end of this movie I heard the song in the room when my dad was facing cancer that day on Christmas 20th of December 2008 will never be forgotten and when I hear this song now I remember it back in 2008 now it's 2015 it just breaks my heart every time I hear this song but you just have to move on that's the way it is because my dad is gone now but he will always be in my heart always think of the goods times not the sad times because they want you to be happy always remember that people. Thank you for reading this everyone ! And always remember this people we just have move on to the future. This song is very good for the true hero's how have cancer and I hope for the best how is facing cancer because my dad had it and everybody knows my dad his name was Sean Keenan and he got the drug for the people how needed it ! Like a lot of people say bring it on cancer because we will beat cancer one day. My mam and dad went to the cinema to watch this whilst she was pregnant with me , they were sat right at the front so the music was very intense. She tells me she was convinced I was going to be born there and then during the end scene because it just had some effect on me.
Fast forward 20 years later and I watch this for the time , I felt such strong emotions of happiness at the end to the point of tears, but I was convinced I had been there before. I tell my mam about it and she drops the cinema story on me. Fucking magical man ❤️❤️

We have this very old priest up here in Greenland. One night he dreamed about angels singing in beautiful choir. Their voices were so beautiful that he got chills all over his body and cried. It was unexplainable... When he woke up, he remembered every word of what they were saying when they sung. Now its in our hymnal. I cry every time I hear it, its truly an amazing hymn. This song (and the scene in the movie) just wrecks me to the core. I cry so much and feel just so much. And I don't really know what I'm feeling, just that I feel it. It is such a perfect ending for Maximus, and the movie in general. All he ever wanted was to go home, to his wife and son. He never signed up to be "the savior of Rome". We want him to stay alive, but at the same time, we have to realize death is a gift to him. I guess that's what I'm feeling. You need to know when letting go is the best option, as much as it hurts. Maybe that's why so many people are reminded of lost ones when they hear this song. That's what it embodies. Going back to your loved ones, when you're ready to join them. I don't know. I'm a mess. Is the movie based on true story? Did it happened really during Roman Empire? Just curious to know because the movie was so good dude.
@@marcuspo5211 Jack - the film was fictional, but based on real events and real characters, except the main one - there was no general Maximus. He was based on several Roman Generals, many who were from the provinces at that time. Commodus had already been appointed as Imperator and had no reason to murder Marcus Aurelius, as depicted in the film. He did not die in the Colosseum as a Gladiator, but did fight many times (and against favorable odds). This film was a bit unfair to Commodus, who was neither a great, nor a terrible Emperor. He was in power for 12 years, which says a lot, but will be remembered for his infatuation with being a Gladiator, which did no good for the Roman Empire or it's citizens.
Maximus isn't a real person... In fact, one or more of his quotes did belong to a real person... Marcus Aurelius...
