    Got this fan to replace the one in the garage which was a 52. It’s a 9ft ceiling so I kept the 6in down rod, I was expecting some extreme air blast on hi or on speed 6 and it wasn’t at all what I expected. Looks great but thought air movement would’ve been more compared to the cheap little hunter that was in there previously. Anyone else experience this?

    Why is there no discussion/video about the receiver unit that gets installed with the hanger bracket that allows use of the remote? Do I have a later version of the fan? I just bought it yesterday at Lowe's.

    • @chrishoesel
      @chrishoesel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just installed the one with the stupid receiver you have to cram up into the hanger, along with the 12 wires you have to hook up (slight exaggeration). My fan does not work at all. I have a red supply (switched) and black supply (switched). I want to control the light from the switch, and the fan from the other switch. I couldn't care less about the remote. Am I stuck getting a contractor grade ceiling fan with pull chain controls or what? I'm getting really frustrated here. I was up on the ladder for 2 hours trying to get all the wires hooked up, and it's a ton of them.

      probably need to pair the remote...cut power then turn back on and hold set button behind battery door of remote within 60 seconds of adding power back...it will move slightly and turn on light to indicate pairing. Then good to go. Ifyou have more than one fan in the house set the dip switches to a different pattern...unless you want them controlled from one controller.

  • @bwdilli
    @bwdilli 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Really? Shut the power off to the entire house? You obviously don't know what you're doing.

    • @davidmarconi528
      @davidmarconi528 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes one room should suffice....i like to turn on lights on the same circut and that way when the lights are out you know the power is out. A good safety check is to have a voltage detector...just hold it close to the wires before you start messing about. Still agree the whole house does not need to be off.

    • @GeneralExpert
      @GeneralExpert  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know since this is a DC powered fan there are certain instructions you have to follow in order to make it all work correctly. What I noticed is you MUST, after switching the power on, press the button on the back of the remote by the battery within 5 seconds. This will sync the remote with the fan. Now, I'm not exactly sure but I think if the power gets switched off again, like if you've wired the fan to a light switch, you must repeat the process stated above. Hope that helps some.

    • @coolcuter
      @coolcuter 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a power issue. The wall switch connecting the fan was faulty. It wasn't allowing enough power to flow thorough. This was never an issue considering it only controlled lights before. So yeah, make sure you are meeting the power requirements. Thanks for the input everyone.

The fan is stable and seems to work good once you make it to work, maybe after 30 minutes to an hour of tinkering with the remote. • @wayneherbert4462
      @wayneherbert4462 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What was your solution IRT remote/fan synch? We can't seem to make it work. Are you cutting the power off/on, then SET from the circuit box? Or just off/on from wall switch? We left the dip switches as they came, didn't adjust. We did not see a code to use. Not sure why that step is even included if you are not adjusting it. Any synch advice is much appreciated, thanks.

    • @dt1mdlara
      @dt1mdlara 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, you have the same headache as I do with the remote. The trick that I learned to do is to turn the wall switch OFF, wait 2 seconds then turn ON again , and wait 2-5 seconds before you can reprogram your remote to play with the light and the fan speed. The fan directional change is really tricky and just requires more patience. I also did not change the dip switches. Moving your remote closer to the fan works better sometimes. Hope this helps. God bless.

      If you have a red and a black, (along with white and bare copper), you likely have 2 switches, one for fan, one for light. If you have both red and black, cap and tape the red wire and hook up the black. If you have only a red (and no black), substitute the red for the black

    • @davidmarconi528
      @davidmarconi528 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My home is wired with two options as well....red is typically a switch on the wall (for older fans this allowed control of the lamp independently) the other black is an always hot option that gets turned off only at the breaker. In short of you want to turn off w the switch wire up to the red...if you want always powered wire to the black. WHITE SHOULD ALWAYS GO TO WHITE. and if your not 100% certian it pays to take a few min with a voltage detector and play with the switches. Never leave an open wire exposed...always cover with a wire nut even if its just for testing.
