I just bought the eighty-four. Same issue right from the start. Fan starts, stops, reverses, slows down, all on its own. The light works except for the dimming feature does not respond well. I tried a few of the fixes that I read here and on another site. And it still does not seem to work. It seems like a lot of other people have had similar issues and I don’t want to hang on to this and hope it’ll work better. I took it back and bought a Kensgrove from Home Depot. I highly recommend going with this or one of the other more reputable brands. I have installed dozens of fans and have a good amount of experience with this.
Is the receiver and remote are ok, the problem is due to a faulty rectifier, a common fault in several electronic devices using a DC motor, including mower. A rectifier is a device that converts an oscillating two-directional alternating current (AC) into a single-directional direct current (DC).
Had the same issue. Start stop jerking. Same fan. Found a loose wire at the other end of the pole mount where it secures to the top of the motor housing. Mine was the yellow wire. It was loose from the crimp connector from the factory. You have the connection you make up at the control module and the electrical box and then there is another splice from the factory at the other end of the pole mount before it goes into the housing. I had to remove 3 screws and take the top cap off. Re terminate the connection and been working fine ever since.
This totally worked. Thank you so much. You saved me from returning the fan. The problem was the yellow wire in the quick release bundle. Thank you so much, I was getting so angry at the fan doing whatever it wanted. I re seated the yellow pin and it works like a champ. 👍🏻
After buying new receiver and remote the fan still did not work. Fanimation decided to send me a new one at no cost. I have 6 others and only one has given me problems which was resolved with a new receiver that was also purchased for $55. What do I do with the non working fan? Something so new and pretty going in the trash. Fanimation should have a recycling program for all these non-working fan. These companies are part of the environmental issues that has become out of control.

I just installed this fan and had the same issue. We tested it on multiple different electrical supply sources and same problem every time. Just boxed out back up to return it.
Same issue, I just moved into a new house with these fans and the one in the master has been doing this. It also seems like it randomly chooses its own speed.
Just got mine from lows yesterday I put new fans Throughout my house this is the only one I bought for my bedroom that was 72 inches and it’s the only one giving me trouble it’s doing exactly as your video
Called the factory cause mine was doing the same. Open the battery door on the remote to access the four dip switches, put two up and two down. Power down fan (wall switch or breaker) after a minute power back up, then hold the reset button for a full 15 seconds (light will flash twice then twice again) release the reset button after all of that. Your fan is now on a different frequency, and the problem should be resolved. Another thing that causes strange behavior is the battery in the remote was installed backwards, so check that too.
I called customer service and they attempted to work with me to fix the problem. They thought it was the motor switch so they sent me one for only a shipping cost. They didn't work so that then determined that my motor was ceased up. I didn't realize that was possible on a newly installed fan, but we had no other explanation for the behavior. I thought I had an unlucky pick, so decided to try the same model with a 1 year warranty. It's acted up a couple of time when I reversed the fans direction. I just circulate counter clockwise to prevent issues.
Exact same scenario for both our fans….. These new Chinese manufacturers just don’t put in the quality that costs mullah. We get sucked in on ignorance. Lowes should be protecting us 🤷🏽♂️ WASTE OF TIME
I just purchased, installed and had the exact same issue. After troubleshooting everything I check the all the wires connecting the motor. I then realized that copper wires are very brittle and will break inside the twist if put on to tight. Also you have to use the correct size wire twist for proper connect. 4hrs later fan now works perfectly. Hope this may help.
Too many people having the same problem. I bought another one with a warranty thinking maybe I just had bad luck on my first buy. The 2nd has acted up a couple times too. I stopped using the reverse switch hoping that would curb the issue. Idk what to think. Honestly I try not to use it anymore than I have to. Too much of an hassle to replace again.
Shannon Grogan same with ours, we had to go thru 3 fans. And note this that our ceiling is 20+ ft high. This fan is giving us a hard time. Our first one had a “motor issue”, second one the wires were cut short, and this one worked but it’s keep on turning off randomly. This fan needs to be discontinued or something. It’s causing too many problems for too many people

It will eventually stop altogether and not work at all except the light; mine has been doing this for about a year off and on; checked voltage and connections everything was fine; today it stopped working altogether except for the light that I can turn on with the remote; expensive light.

I bought a Fanimation Slinger II from Lowes about a year ago and it has also died on me. Extremely frustrating!! My fan does exactly what you described with yours Shannon. I will never buy another Fanimation fan again. Trash.
Yeah since my post of this video, I've had several people tell me the same story. Fans are so simply made. Fans usually last for decades. I've never heard of one being faulty like this before.
I contacted Fanimation and talked to the techinal team. They thought my receiver was bad, so mailed me another. That didn't fix it, so then they told me my motor was going bad. I paid $300+ for it off EBay. Since it wasn't purchased from a big box store, I lost out. I really like the design so bought another from Lowes with a 1 year warranty!!! The replacement works great - $700+ later... 😕

Irritating fan.. I complained it didn't cool.. Seems the fan blade is in reverse, maybe. Can't make it work reading the instructions.. Frustrating.. Something this big should blow us off the patio... sigh!
Yeah the fans have 2 directions - inflow which sucks air up and the outflow which pushes air down. If you're not feeling the breeze, maybe try switching the circulating direction.
Well... we can add another one to the list. One of 2 I have quit working all together today. Not even the light is turning on. I installed it about 2 years ago and didn't use it that much.. Remote control battery is good and power is going to it. I will call and hell tomorrow and see what they will tell me about it.
I opened my fan and removed the controller receiver unit to inspect it. Found out some components did burn. I called fanimation to tell them about the problem and the person that helped with the case was very nice and apologetic. He is sending another controller unit to me free of charge. I was expecting the run-around game but that didn't happen, I was surprised. All he asked was the fan's model number and the date code of the remote control. So in this case they seem to be well aware of the issue and trying to make it right to the customer. I just don't know how they will handle a situation where the customer is unable to do their own repairs for whatever reason and having to hire someone to bring the fan down, do the part replacement and hang it back up. That will cost money.
Remote fans suck. Give me the old pull chain. Twenty years the same pull chain fan no problems. Figured I’d get hip and go remote. This new 💩 remote stuff sucks. Goes off and on by itself. Tried pairing up same 💩. Brought it back got the old pull chain. Nice now I’m happy no F bombs going off.
