      I'm just happy to have an audience! Every episode can't be titled "I$ THIS THE END OF ROLEX?!?!" Well, maybe on some channels, but not this one. Each week, I need to think of *reasonably* original topics or at least way to explore them from a perspective that hasn't been done before. From time to time, I update this "buyer's guide" concept with new lessons I've learned along the way.

    Tim is absolutely correct about not buying the cheapest price, unless it comes from a reputable online dealer. I almost bought an Omega from a well known dealer online in the US recently. Luckily I researched the dealer and discovered negative reviews that alarmed me. Then I read that they do not include the original warranty card from Omega. All warranty work had to go through the dealer. So it always to buy the seller first, then pay the lowest price -- not vice versa.

    I could relate to the chase of watches comment, in 2 years I ended up getting a Sub 126613LN then sold it got a 226570 Polar, and a 126334 Datejust 41 Jubilee Azzuro. Went to an AD and talked about trading those watches for a Sky Dweller Steel but I realized it was a silly watch for me and the chase was more fun. Glad I kept those two watches and am enjoying making memories and not flip and like Tim said lose money. I’m also always looking at videos of watches but have no desire on buying them.

    Tim, what a great topic and if was super fun to hear your wisdom that has come from your line of work and personal experience. I can’t wait until the next episode. Off topic-are the holland bikes built mostly out of titanium and is that generally considered better than carbon? Contemplating this down the road.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bill Holland has built with steel, titanium, carbon, and a couple of models that combined carbon and titanium. As of 2023, he builds full-titanium and full-carbon frames. Both are full-custom and come with a fairly sophisticated fit by Cody Stevenson, a former road pro who is now a partner in the business. I'm thinking about a new bike for the first time in over a decade, so I'd like to own something that's really fresh and different from the Holland ti/carbon Exogrid I have now. Carbon is probably the route I'll go.

    I almost bought the Breitling Premier B09 Chronograph 40 AB0930D31L1P1 pistachio dial at 8:45. But the 2-4-8-10 being cut off on the dial is a huge negative for me. It ruins the aesthetic of the dial. Otherwise it is a stunningly gorgeous watch.

    Great advice on importance of getting the original papers - and ideally with boxes with bits and bobs. How could muggers get the original documents? Naked watches may well have dodgy histories. Buying naked watches encourages theft IMO.

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true and important. Just like watches price suspiciously below market or sold without serials, naked watches may have become that way through theft.

      As someone who has owned both, the sub is by far a better watch. The pelagos blue is a very different and unappealing shade of blue. The fxd’s blue is much better. Also, the glide lock is head and shoulders above the pelagos “spring loaded” clasp. The pelagos is a much clumsier case shape, overly thick and text cluttered dial. I hope my opinions and experiences help

    My rule is that any Patek post 2000, must have box/papers. Patek buyers have always been particular. With other watches pre-2010 box /papers not needed. AP/rolex collectors before that time generally did not keep these things, unless they were anal.

    The Zenith Daytona has an additional cringe factor if people ask you: "Wow, you've got a Daytona/Rolex," and you gotta say: "No, it's a Zenith." Now the average guy looks at you like you wear a 100-dollar Chinese Pagani, and now you start embarrassed mumbling how Zenith once made Daytona movements for Rolex and maybe end up admitting that you paid 10.000 dollars for an homage... Of course, you sell that thing.
