Tim truly is the people’s champ of the watch world. A true connoisseur and lover of substance over mere form. Thank you for sharing your passion and insight in a world where marketing counts far more than brand offering.
Great to see Breguet get some love. One small point: the Marine 5817 measures 40mm even though Breguet lists it as 39mm. You measured it at 40mm in one of your videos, and I did as well.
Tim, W-O-W! I discovered Breguet over 2 years ago, but never heard anyone talk about it. My sense it had the hand craftsmanship of a DuFour at a fraction of the price. Your ardent and passionate review of Le Maison has put the brand on my purchase list. Plus it can be bought/worn right away plus at a discount. Thanks for your hard work and dedication.
Great point about putting the fluff on the case back rather than the dial. Really never thought that they could put it in the front. The Daytona for instance has too much text on the dial.
Missed that show sadly. Absolutely agree on Breguet! The latest Marine collection is just absolutely amazing, Classique collection is the best dress-watch IMO and best value for money if you go pre-owned. Thanks for bringing that, it was a pleasure to hear that I’m not alone!
Own a Breguet TypeXX Transatlantique for about 6 years now and love the watch. Looks great and can wear it with a suit too. Best money I have ever spent on a watch.
Wow, great show Tim. - Agree that Rolex has too much dial text and the SpeedMaster is tasteful. Also agree the sapphire SpeedMaster should be 100 meters water resistant. Really disappointing to see the outsized price increase with de-contented box set. - Tim, I thought BlancpaiN was Swatch's FlagShip? Why do you say Breguet is?
Very interesting to hear your take on Breguet Tim - I've always fancied the blue dial Marine. One of these days I'd love to hear your equivalent take on Piaget. Keep up the good work.
@@the1916companywatchreviews thanks Tim. I think I completely misunderstood you on that one. Thought they had the changed the marine watch you were showing in 2018. and I couldn’t figure out what might have been changed. But it turns you were referring to the entirely new models they released back then. My bad :)
Time out. Tim out. Love it. That was down to the wire with Breguet finishing 1,2 and 3 on the podium. I must say, in a slightly more daring and contemporary traditional manner Ulysse Nardin are going from strength to strength with each passing decade and not unlike Breguet are exceptional value horological pieces throughout, pre-owned in the mid to upper tier offerings.
Is it possible to walk in an AD without a history with them and buy/ get on a serious list for a 126234? I just don't want to jump through a bunch of hoops or pay any more than list for a new one. Already have a vintage 16610 but I'd like something new; I just don't know how realistic it is that I could actually get one. Thanks.
Great show tonight. Silly gripe...don't like the clasps on the Type XX-XXII. I find it difficult to open if you have the watch snug on your wrist. Only a push fit.
Lemania 2310 is a legendary movement but we associate it with Omeg, Patek and Vacheron. Breguet can exploit this movement now and make a fortune out of it. Need more media exposure.
What about the breguet traditional 7097BB automatic? This watch is the first watch to impress me in a long time, fit, finish, looks, price. I don’t think from my watch knowledge that there is any piece out there that beats it, it’s on my mind for my next piece for casual dress or jump on the sport side with the marine first. I believe Breguet will have a much stronger demand in the future years to come once all this hype dies out, Jeff.
I have that watch, the WG version. I can tell you it is chock full of details. Initially, your focus is on the jumping seconds hand. As your length of ownership grows, you also start to appreciate the myriad of exquisite details everywhere. In terms of wearability, it is surprisingly versatile: it is thoroughly a Breguet so it dresses up very well, but is also expressive and avant garde enough that it can be dressed down easily.
I'm definitely happy about the hacking seconds on the Speedmaster but I agree the price is drastically different. I been going back and forth between a Speedmaster Moon watch 3861 or a Zenith Tippo pilot watch 43mm or a chronmaster. I do love the Breguet Areonavale 39mm no date
I definitely agree on the value of Breguet (especially compared to the overhyped models everybody‘s yearning for). I personally think that apart from lazy marketing it might also be their somehow „weird“ combination of their sportier models (cases, bracelets & straps) with this too much 18th century (or 17th century??) style dials and hands. The pilots models look quite okay but suffer a bit from the same problem (not the hands so much but the calligraphy of their numbers and writing on the dial)…. just my personal explanation for them not standing in the customers focus…. And pure dresswatches are not so sought after in times when even CEO‘s of major companies don’t wear ties any more 🤷🏻…times have changed (and might change back). But I could get weak on the gorgeous looking model with the dark blue dial. This thing is killer!!
@@the1916companywatchreviews yes..... it is Tim.....more reliable for me to set my own cellphone alert to watch ur live show. Love the topic about Breguet..... they are one of the best of the best watch maker.
I don't have an issue with Omega re-cooping their investment costs with their new caliber. Their profit margin on the OLD watch must have been very high since it had not changed much through the years. So why shouldn't their profit margin be the same or higher on a technically superior watch?
Hey Tim, after discounting here in Sydney Australia literally yesterday I purchased a new old stock 1861 from an AD for over AUD$3k less than the new model where you are lucky to get a 10% discount. Give me the old version any day for that money.
I always love these 'undervalued' Watches Tonight shows. My kind of content! On a related note, I might be the only guy who really loves the 5517ti Marine. Semi-stalking the internet for used examples
Ditto. I love to find the real bargains that collectors truly appreciate at affordable prices. I cannot see wearing a watch that costs as much as a home. Watches are made to wear on the wrist not decorate a darkened safe or safety deposit box.
I was able to pick up a pre-owned 1861, full set for $3150 last year. I am, however buying the bracelet from the 3861 for $680 from the Omega boutique. No need to sell mine to buy the new one and for out more money.
@@the1916companywatchreviews I agree, was shocked when a friend bought one last Friday for his ultraman. He said they had a few left but I’m in no rush.
I’ve thought for 25 years that Breguet was underrated. Now if they’d bring back the 5817 with the blue guilloché dial then that would be awesome! Why not do the whole dial in blue? How about a version with the standard blue guilloché but a light powder blue hours chapter ring? Why not do the same and combine forest green and mint green? How about an equivalent in deep and light red? I’d take mine with an all burgundy guillochè dial and with blued steel hands, indices, and printing. So many other ideas, so little time!
Omega: lets go to the moon! Rolex: hummmm... okay... we cannot go to the moon, Breitling already has a Navitimer, so lets just sponsor some golf and tennis championships and make a huge thing about it! Wow!

Breguet needs to spend a LOT of time on design and aesthetics rather than cobbling together designs that look to be CAD'ed up by some young engineering grad. They looked finished and opulent for finishing's sake, does not work with the design or a flow or a well thought out whole. Some of them are ugly, almost Ulyse Nardin'esque. Come to think of it, its almost headed that way. Doesnt have the discipline of Patek, or the looks of a Longe or Vacheron. Difficult to take in. Its sort of sleeping in the past too much, in a very nostalgic French sort of way. Ugh! In other words its not DESIRABLE, no one wants one. Which is a shame.
