It goes into the mount and the camera just pops on and off the mount. You should be able to connect the wire even if you already put the mount in place. It's just a little trickier but you can slide the wire into the slot after it's mounted. Just make sure the end of the wire is flush with the mount and then you will know that it should be connected properly.
so should the wire go into the camera directly or the mount? i think i set mine up wrong by connecting it to the camera 😭
