It's hard to fathom it's been that long. Coming from the games PS2, GameCube and Xbox to Gears of War was a crazy leap in fidelity. Hard to imagine we'll see jumps that big again.
@@VirtualLegacyI believe it's categorically impossible. Not only due to diminishing returns, there's just less difference between the current high end like pathtraced Cyberpunk and absolute photorealism than between late gen6 and late gen7 titles. What remains to hope for is AA and independent titles closing the gap, which might very well happen during the current generation if we consider the recent Robocop an AA title.
From one editor to another I really love how well this is put together I been watching a lot Of Gears OF War related things since E-Day has been announced so I'm happy this video was recommended to me. Also we both were in a similar boat my brother introduced to the series on Gears Of War 2 & I seen him and others play Gears Of War 1 play but at the time I wasn't old enough so I couldn't play it lol. What I loved about Gears 1 was the atmosphere of it as the game was very dark and how the environments were especially in the dark areas. But the story def did leave a lot more questions than answers but I'm very happy they decided to show them later Gears Of War 2 is my fav game outta the series it's really the game that invented in way it's hard to replicate story was even more dark, horde being added, executions for your weapons & new animations for downing enemies, that experience it was nothing like it. I def will be checking out the other videos as well as I can see this channel really going far in the future.
I appreciate the comment! Gears of War 2 is also my favorite. This channel is really a passion project of mine. I grew up doing a lot of video editing through middle school and high school. Here I get to have as much fun as I want editing while revisiting some of my favorite games and checking out new ones.
The most signature line of this game wasn't spoken by any of the characters, but by the player. "God......DAMMIT, DOM!!" I completely forgot about active reload, but that was an AWESOME mechanic and kept you engaged. But one thing that stood out to me was fighting enemy AI that essentially had fear and used cover. But yeah, I always pictured the humans and the locust to be offshoots of the same lineage that split millions of years ago when one went underground and the other stayed on the surface. I've always liked the idea of having two intelligent humanoid species that are native to the same planet. It harkens back to our own prehistory, though our prehistory with our relatives was decidedly less directly rivalrous.
I will replay it every now and then. One of my first friends on the 360. Still playing together into our adult lives. But I am still genuinely surprised by how amazing the game holds up. Like, there is nothing I can really think of besides outdated graphics that doesn't play well. The game manages to keep us entertain throughout. Some parts seemed to drag on. Like back in 2020/2021 we played it together on insanity. Which I love that you get the achievement for even if you do COOP. But we played through it all. Though the remaster added an original mission that was cut. A theatre of sorts. That was possibly the most infuriating thing of the game. We had to take a week break on that. Just cause you can't revive each other when you have to split up. We played GOW2 Insane afterwards. We noticed some things different. Some things we didn't like. I noticed that the enemies health pool had changed from the original GOW. Enemies were more abundant. The intro was also rushed. The only thing I really didn't like was how much of the game took place underground. GOW3 we had a ton of fun. Especially with the modifier that increased damage done with perfect reloads. Though the final boss was really annoying. Only time we struggled really. GOW4 was a disappointment. Was the first time either of us had played it since we individually beat it at launch. You could definitely tell that the studio felt like it was formed only because Microsoft wanted to milk the IP after so long. Also, the robots were not fun to fight. One of the main selling points of GOW was the visceral and how brutal it could be. So fighting these enemies are not fun. GOW5 was a shitshow to put it as nicely as possible. My friend had beat it when it first came out. I stopped playing after the first 3 or so missions. We started playing here and were so bored. The story was so so so bad. I realized I truly don't care for the new characters and the one female protagonist they kept pushing forward annoyed me to no end. We actually stopped playing the game altogether and ended up Insanity playthrough.
Damn man, I check out a lot of video game reviewers, but I gotta say. Your one of best I've watched. You get into great details that others miss. You also don't make insanely long, or annoyingly over preachy like some other reviewers do. You give the facts, the specks, and the story details. Nice I'm looking forward to more of your reviews. Please do crysis 3
I replay Gears of War trilogy every year! I simply love every second of this game! I'm even making my own gears of war game with Unbound game engine! but it will take some time since the engine is in Alpha! one thing that made feel the character more was the Comic! for example, the General Ram story is very nice! if you read the comic about him, it adds a lot to his character! They should make more comics about them! I also love to see they make more games about the past and general Ram or Dom and Young Marcus! the E-day for example can be fun! There are lots of cool characters in the Comics they can make spin-off out them! They don't have to go forward they can still explore the story based on the comics which can be so fun! IMO my own game is based on the Comic! a short rescue game at the beginning of the E-Day!
Hey everyone, I had to reupload this video. The original had messed up audio whenever I cut to the game dialogue.
Gears of War invented good Graphics. It's insane to me that game is 18 years old now. The SP was a bit tedious but co-op was the Chef's kiss.

GOATED franchise I miss the old days when multiplayer games were good
A gears collection will be announced this year so....
@@ROLOSMOKES 😞at least we are getting a prequel.
You definitely need to read the Gears books in context with all of the original trilogy, absolutely essential

I appreciate it! Crysis 3 is on the list. I'll probably be covering 1 or 2 games before it.
