I dropped my spoon somewhere while hiking so I carved one. I don't think it was quite a compliment when my mates were like "yeah, of course that's what YOU'D do." But I took it as a compliment 😂. Fire would've made that easier if I'd thought of it

I did that once. My wife calls it Daddy's Elvish spoon. I was a Tolkien fan and her first introduction to it was the movie and thought it looked the part. Im really flattered but between me, you, and the fence post just I did with firewood out of boredom and watching the BBQ pit. 😂
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1st John 1:8-10.
I like the content but as a musician I am hearing a percussive instrument and your timing is perfect with the editing. Interesting sir. Appreciate carving and wood working, that's how all my instruments were made.
I love making utensils while camping just not forks, I have a nice scar from the last time I made one, I was dizzy in all fairness though from a cause of food poisoning from the macaroni my friend brought on the trip😂😂😂
If anyone has somd advice or solution please answear. I tried it few times but have a problem, many times wood is stressed and when heated or dried it comes appart leaving cracks, cavieties or even holes that are pain with utensils that you cook with. Does anyone know a solution how to fill them?

I carved a spoon like this one night when my buddies and I were out camping :) I was so proud of it.... it got blown up by a can of corn someone put in the fire and didn't vent :)
And of ya'll ever read My Side Of The Mountain? Well, the main character used this same method to make his house inside a giant tree, real good book, can't remember who wrote it tho
Brazilian Indians make canoes like this (it's quite rare, in fact, I think they might not even make them anymore), the name is "piroga". they use fire to dig. But today it's more tradition, today they already have steel, they even have pickup trucks
If only we had 4 digits, a thumb, and a palm that all met perfectly...as if we evolved that way... I'm going on too long, this bushcraft spoon video solves all our problems.
Bro saved the other piece for lunch
450 likes and no comment, let me fix that
Delicious
Now imagine making an entire canoe like that.
They used fires ?
@@_Curva_Dan yup, the initial hollowing out of the canoe was down with fire.
TJ Miller has an outdoor channel!?!? Freaking sweet!!
Same thought jetted over my ripples when I saw him.
@grammarpolice4003 jetted over my ripples??!?!? Bro what wtf i love u please mary me.

Thx for that Laugh
@martinsandt1135 why did i get notification for this i didnt like the vid or commment kr like any comments etff
I do the ember first just in case the ember burns outside the "lip". I can then carve around that so it is more centered.
Fantastic advice. Thank you!
Came to give the same advice. Burn divot first carve spoon second.
You haven't even used a spoon😂😂
You don't know what a spoon is
@@scottjezny3217 no you dont know what a spoon is! im sick of u trolls! trollin all the time. Have a good day sir

"No, officer, I really was just smoking a bowl!"
If you make a bunch of incisions in the bowl of the spoon it will take less time to deepen it
That’s a very good trick that can be used for many different purposes
Seems we have a person of culture 🗣 💨
Exactly what I was thinking 😂
He totally said bowl in the video too lol
"How to carve a bong using FIRE"
The fact he started from such a big piece is wild 😂😂😂
Toothpicks out of the scrap woodXD
Pray tell how you think small pieces of wood are made?
That's how carbing works 🤣
Underrated channel
Going to try this out next camping trip. Thanks
You are one smart and efficent guy hats off to you
Using knife and axe to carve😂😂
That was pretty cool
Now you got me wanting to get into wood carving.
I feel like every video you put out is very informational, I hope I make enough money one day to be self sufficient like you.

Thanks for all your clips 👍🙏
thank you for making this :) how long time would you say it takes to make this ? :D
Nice! Definitely going to try this one 👍
I have made spoons and bowls by carveing but the way you did it looks like it's faster
What if you just brought a spoon
Love this, now I want to try this❤
What kind of wood did you use?
What kinda wood?
Very ingenious sir. I had to carve out a tree trunk to make Indian drum 🪘 As a 7 year old i did it the hard way with a chisel
That's pretty cool I'm gonna try it
I think that might be a good way of carving bowls
Quickly Dave was able to fashion a microphone using nothing but a squirrel, some rope, and a megaphone!
great a carbon coated filtering spoon to ensure your wild caught food and water is nice and clean.
This is so perfect!!!! I love it!!!
Thats awesome. You've inspired me to try making one myself 😊
That was fire!!!
That's how they carved traditional instruments in Greek prisons a century ago. Pretty cool method.
Spoon is my least concern if i stuck in forest
Thanks Dude
"why do i still taste my charcoal toothpaste"
Does the fire burnt wood make everything taste weird?
Smoked flavour 😂
We got to do this wat school one year. Pretty cool.
Bro said he carved it with fire but he actually carved it with a knife
Ayy yung gravy lookin kinda different tho
Do you get that super smokey taste on your food with it? 😅
Its the dude from yogi bear😂😂😂
Blessed Love Give Thanks 🙏 ❤️🔥
If you have sand near you your in luck, just jab it in the sand several times until it's nice and smooth
90% carved with knife, 10% fire
😊 That's freaking awesome
I recommend a 15 dollar sharpening stone. Looked like the carving was pretty tough.
You’re getting ripped off!
Aaaaaaaand was waiting for some fud
(It’s you you’re the fud)
@addisonpage1 yes, normal people call other people fuds, you're totally not a fud 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tom Hanks needed to see this 😅😅
Now he can truly taste how badly he burnt his food
Nice tomahawk
Ahh yes, modern utensils in the great outdoors
“My cereal tastes like ash”
“Do you need a spoon?”
him: “no thanks i’ll get my own.”
also him: *proceeds to start chopping down a tree*
I was wondering what TJ Miller was up to these days
How many of you think we're going to have a shortage of spoons before we have a shortage of food.
You're video is useful
8 hours later he can have some cereal and milk
That works great😊
You didn't say why you do it, though. But it's interesting to see the how anyway.
They say he carved it himself... From a bigger spoon
Charcoal flavored with every bite
Cool asf
Wow really gonna help me survive
bushcraft and survival are two different things
Im noticing a lotta axe and knife usage in comparison to fire
So cooooool!
And of ya'll ever read My Side Of The Mountain? Well, the main character used this same method to make his house inside a giant tree, real good book, can't remember who wrote it tho
Bro just looks like he carves spoons out of wood
Loved you in Deadpool
Super interesting brother!
that's good skill to shape a wood. but what value spoon adds to one's life which can worth so much time and effort?
cool. i got a regular spoon that is made for adult human hands, but yours is cool too
I have carved several sons out of cedar I did not use fire I used a small sharp knife to carve the bowl
Bros getting more of a mouth full of spoon than food
Drill 2 holes, and you got yourself a hipster pipe son 😂😂😂😂
Good idea when you need one in the wild.
I like that but I’m not sure I’d wanna use a burnt spoon
How do you know what wood is safe to use as a spoon
I made a shot glass using the same method
Bro looks like tj miller from temu
I thought he said he carved it using fire, cuz it looked like he used the hatchet and a knife way more than fire
Can wait for some random comment to tell us how he made the spoon wrong even though they live in their moms basements
Very nice
I too know someone who uses fire on thuer spoon preparations
How do you get rid of the burnt smell of the wood?

pretty much everyone made canoes like this.
I tried this once. It went… less than stellar.
