It's funny 2 years after this video. I'm shooting the Elephant Trunk. I have around 20 hrs so far but I decided my oxygen needs to be better from Bortle 6. I just bought the Antlia OIII 3nmto replace my ZWO 7nm. I was hoping this would be the best single improvement I could get. Coincidentally, I was sent here hours afterward. Feeling better about pulling the trigger. Great images.
Wonderful video and review thank you so much. As a beginner, I am looking into all information I can get and I can tell that this was great content.thank you, sir, and keep it up!
Thanks for the kind comment. I'm hoping to help others on the journey to the most rewarding photography genre there is. Let me know if you have any questions.
Great video, I am thinking to buy into mono soon. QUESTION - at 16:55 in the image of the pelican nebula, you seem to have a few halos on the brighter stars, any comments?
I've had my set for awhile, plenty happy with them haven't seen anything negative about them at all, much more cost effective than Chroma so my budget is happy about that.
Hi! I use the 1.25” filters with my 183, 533, and 294 cameras and 2” filters with my 2600. If you can afford it go with 2” filters because you can use them with any camera. If you are on a budget or only use smaller sensors then the 1.25” filters are a much better price.
Hey, sir! Just sub'd to your channel, and am enjoying your work. Just recently ventured into the hobby, myself. Lots to learn! Am interested in picking up a filter or two next in my purchase list, so this is helpful. Thanks! On a side note, I haven't read many astronomy magazines, (been mostly youtube videos and cloudy nights posts so far). But, I hope you've either gotten your "cover" photo, or do in the near future. Thanks! ... just finished the video ... looks like the brushed aluminum piece could be a laptop lid with the nebula on it.
Thanks for the review. A lot of people seem to like the Antlia set. I may consider them when I decide to upgrade my zwo set. Did you see any halo on the O filter?
I haven’t seen any halos yet, definitely a big improvement over my ZWOs in that regard. The real test will come when I shoot the Horse Head, but it’s not up in my area for a couple of months.
Thanks for the review! I got these last week and it was nice to see I didn't make a mistake :) Any link to the images outside of TH-cam on Astrobin on Flickr? Of note: I did find them to be fairly good parafocal with the LRGB set. I forgot to refocus when I first tested them and shot all 7 filters in a row and each picture came out quite well!
Sorry for the slow reply, been on a road trip! I started a Flickr recently and these are the only images on there haha! www.flickr.com/photos/196232402@N03/
Dedicated man! Now, you cannot drop below f4 with those filters. By the way, for NA nebulae, I think 7nm filter-picture is better. It contains more interplay between colors.
I’ve been using them at f/3.45 and they have been performing really well. I just picked up an Edge HD 8 and Hyperstar at f/1.9 so I’ve had to buy some new highspeed filters for that setup. Apparently I have a need for speed!
@@Robservatory Oh. You got f1.9 This is a way to go. Good luck in tuning Edge8 with HyperStar. Very tough; tilt, collimating, no more filter wheel for mono camera, etc. I rid of mine. No matter how I spun, the optimum for bortle7 came fast (f4.5-5.5) refractor with large glass or Epsilon Newtonian f3.3.
Thanks, I will need that luck from what I hear. I have both a mono and osc camera that match, so I will mostly use the colour cam on hyperstar and mono on the back. Working on building an observatory so one I get it working I can leave it setup and not mess with it too much.
Keep creating content, your channel is insanely under the radar. Top notch content
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m working on some new videos now.

Just poor processing. I haven’t gotten any halos with these filters. I have two sets of them now!

Same here, I'm still very happy with the purchase and have no plans to look at any other filters anytime soon.
Great video. Keep it up
Thanks, will do!
hello, just asking what size of antlia folter you use and what camera.. thank you and yiu have amazing photos of nebula

I'm looking to buy my first mono camera (been using a stock DSLR) and I'm considering these filters. This was very helpful!
Let me know what cam and filters you decide to go with!
I just pulled the trigger on the ASI 2600mm with the Antlia 3nm filter set (SHO + LRGB)
@@bradjohnson918 You made a great decision, you're in for a real treat with that setup!

Great video. I’m not seeing any star halos like ones I get with my Baader 3/4nm filters. I would replace my oiii if so.
Thanks. I haven’t seen any halos yet. Replacing the Oiii is a great move, I recommend that to people all the time.

i updated from zwo full set to antlia full set yesterday, and i just gave a quick try, nothing serious, but i can already say it s a massiv upgrade !
Nice video thanks. I saw in another video someone said the exposure length had to be doubled going from 7nm to 3nm. Did you experience that?
Thank you. No, I did not experience that at all. I have seen it mentioned by people online but it is not true in practice.
