Did play PC version not long after PS2 ones back in the day. And considering the port quality, it was quite flawless running on Pentium PC era. The low audio quality could be understandable since PC setup on that era still struggle to try maintain all aspect as high as possible. In fact, despite those flawless, it was barely noticeable, considering back then when playing PS2 on normal television with AV input which would barely gave any huge significant quality over PC port which I ends up enjoying far lots more, having TV with component input can be considered quite huge luxury back then. The ps2 emulation itself wasn't perfected till at least a decade wait with more better common PC gear specs, hence personally wasn't rly a fair comparison by today's standard.
I played Metal Gear Solid 2 on PC after it was released on PS2. For Metal Gear Solid 2, I had a 700 Mhz Pentium 3 processor with Windows 2000 and AMD Radeon 7000 64 mb video Ram (the weakest 64 mb video Ram card) and 256 mb RAM. It barely played Metal Gear Solid 2, and this was on low settings (12-15 fps). Yes, Metal Gear Solid 2 technically requires 800 Mhz Pentium 3 or faster (but it is possible for slightly lower Pentium 3 processors to play that game because of the optimization). As long as anyone have the right Windows operating system and better than 32 mb video ram and they have at least 256 mb ram and put it on low settings, they are good. On the other hand, Metal Gear Solid 1 worked like a charm on that computer except for Psycho Mantis boss fight.

Also having just finished the The Subsistence version of MGS 3 on a PCSX2 emulator the only little quality of life thing I'd like to see added to the remake that probably will be added cause what game doesn't have it now is the ability to move while crouched instead of having to either stand or crawl. The only thing that I think that needs completely redone is his swimming. For a guy that's had a lot of grueling military training he swims super slow and like he's almost never even been in water. Also Konami do not try to make us purchase any camo or costumes please. That a DLC/microtransaction pit waiting to be made. But I beat Subsistence today for the first time and it's a great game that honestly holds up insanely well for it's age but if they're gonna remake it I'd just like crouched movement and overhauled swimming that's completely different from the original game.

A very strange note on that XEMU doesn't support pressure sensitivity. Actually only Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 Dualshocks were pressure sensitive. PS1 or PS4 or PS5 or any Xbox had no pressure sensitive buttons except triggers obviously. That feature is now may be remembered as a gimmick and was dropped eventually.

hey, just wanted to ask if its possible to complete mgs2 without setting up the pressure sensitive trigger modifier settings? cuz as you showed in the video there are only l3 and r3 that can be mapped to the setting. well, i own a third party xinput controller which is pretty good however the L3 and R3 are really hard to press and feels like shit when pressing them, worse when holding down. i dont use them much in games.
Yes, it's totally playable without it but this video is old and doesn't take the Master Collection version into account, you should play that version instead! Check out my video on it: th-cam.com/video/uHMXUB2Nmw0/w-d-xo.html
Any chance of a video like this for MGS3?
Yeah, it's on his channel.
Can't for the HD Collection version to be repackaged as the Master Collection lol
Have any thoughts on the master collection?
Solid 2 HD and Solid 3 HD are coming to PC on October so this needs an update.
I have a question on PCSX2 for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, will the cutscene have audio lag?
A very strange note on that XEMU doesn't support pressure sensitivity. Actually only Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 Dualshocks were pressure sensitive. PS1 or PS4 or PS5 or any Xbox had no pressure sensitive buttons except triggers obviously. That feature is now may be remembered as a gimmick and was dropped eventually.
That's incorrect, the original Xbox had pressure sensitive buttons, as you can see here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_(console)#:~:text=six%208%2Dbit%20analog%20action%20buttons%20(A/Green%2C%20B/Red%2C%20X/Blue%2C%20Y/Yellow%2C%20and%20Black%20and%20White%20buttons).
Also here are some people discussing pressure sensitivity on Xbox controllers: www.reddit.com/r/originalxbox/comments/ros46w/restoring_button_sensitivity_in_xbox_controllers/
so how can we play MGS2 and MGS3 properly with pressure sensitive on PC?
@@1Ocelot original Xbox, you mean the duke? Who cares? There was like 1.5 games that actually made use of it and they're probably nothing of interest. So technically you're right but my point is still the same.
You planning to do one of these for Metal Gear Rising?
Hey, I remember there being an Nvidia Shield version of the HD collection, meaning that you can play MGS2 and 3 on mobile. Maybe try that with an Android emulator next time you make a MGS video.
is the PCSX2 setting for an older version? I got a V 1.7.4240 and a V1.7.5236 and I can't find options like manuel hardware renderer fixes or bilinear dirty upscale
Great summary... i guess i am sticks to the ps2 version
framerate isn't very good tho?
I am going to play all games (except fifth one) from ps3, is it a good decision?
You gotta revisit mgs4
i want to know what your version if pcsx2 is, i have 1.16, the latest stable version and my ui looks much more different so i cant seem to find the pressure toggle bind
Do you know of anyone have a full playthrough on RPCS3 or PCSX2 emulator? Would love watching a proper full-story play-through recording
I thought the PS2 had a wide screen settings in the boot up menu (System)?
Hopefully, the Master Collection wil fix all those problem (and the problem of HDC)
2:28 bro that aint fatman thats blackman
The best way to play this again is on pc installation with subsistence camera mods.
Ocelot, can you do one explaining how to play P.T./Silent Hills demo on pc?
You can't.
Sure there are remakes, and even a PS4 emulator in development, but it's impossible to run P.T on anything but a modded PS4, or a PS4 that has downloaded it.
I've been getting some problems emulating the game on rpcs3 mainly some cutscenes just cut off and stop working halfway through and the subtitles play faster than the audio which is also present in the codeck calls this has only started happening around the part where you have to disguise yourself on shell 1.
Has anybody else experienced this ?
Is your framerate higher than 60fps? I know that can cause sync issues, you have to limit the framerate to 60fps
@@1Ocelot I managed to fix it by going into the audio settings and messing with some stuff, and my framerate goes anywhere from 30 to 50 fps, I do drop quite a bit of frames sometimes but that's on my cpu since its a i7 4790k
also as for the cutscenes cutting off it has stopped
bro is there any way to use mouse while aiming? (PCSX2)
Maybe XEMU still don't implement fixes for this game, far i know PCSX2 have much developer time and updates than Xemu.
Depth of field seems to be fixed in RPCS3, does it work now in MGS3?
I've been enjoying my playthrough on PCSX2 but got softlocked at the start of the Ray fight. Has anyone else experienced this?
Can you make a video on mgs portable ops?
Would you recommend a Dualshock 4 controller for PCSX2?
Ds4Windows is a fantastic program which allows your pc to perceive your DS4 as a 360 controller. Using ds4Windows works great with pcsx2
need a bit of help with the 60fps fix for the PC port, I don't exactly know how I'm supposed to apply it to the game
Hey, you're pretty good.
my big issue with GOG characters ghosting & repetition in cutscenes.. any help to solve it ??
This video came out a day before the ps5 announcement, looks like you’ll need to remake this video again this year 😅
Is there a way to get Metal Gear Solid 2 PC version after the removal?
Wait for the master collection
@@GGoblin1 it will be a long wait, hope i will have the money to buy it and i also hope we will be able to put the third person mod
@@l.s.gangstar2984 pirate it on release and buy it when you have the cash
@@GGoblin1 when the master collection will be released you think we will able to buy the games singulary or we have to buy the full games collection?
@@l.s.gangstar2984 I think you'll have to buy the full collection - at least that's how it was for the HD collection on PS3 / 360
isnt emulation of MGS2 and MGS3 hard to play because you cant shoot properly? like, no pressure sensitive buttons?
Unless you have a DualShock 2 or 3, yes.
@@chrisdelgado4621 i have both those, but im not sure if emulation can supports it
@@KT-rq9id It does, but you’ll need a USB cable and, in the case of DualShock 3, third party software to properly configure it.
WHERE'S THE CONCLUSION??!
I cant see the settings you used.
set the video quality on youtube to 2160p and make it full screen it'll be pretty clear then.
Can anybody maybe help me enjoy more? I just started playing and ive played snakes and im on raiden. But after this its over? Theres mini missions for snake but all on the base? Anything actually else? Seems like wasted storyline
I'm playing through raidens right now but I've been around the map over and over already so it's getting boring I figured there'd be more to the game
whats that controller overlay
This is so random, but this is my first time trying to play MGS 2 and i'm on the first part and I can't see my laser on pcsx2. Does anybody know a fix?
