More tire reviews would be awesome!

I’m glad these tires exist because budget options are necessary but personally I’d rather spend (or overspend) supporting companies I believe in - Rene Herse for example.

No idea what it costs to make a tire (tax, import, labor, materials....) so no idea what a fair price would be but pretty thrilled to have a $35 option :). I bought the Wentworth and the Kimberlite models, only about 20 miles on the Wentworth.. feel great on dirt but I cant really compare as I was running 38c super light slicks before... the Kimberlite tires feel great, thicker heavier yes but once I dropped the pressure down to 30psi front and 35psi rear they are insanely more comfortable over roots, rocks, brake bumps and pot holes. Did the C&O/GAP trial on them in 3.5 days and pretty noticeable difference just how much less I was needing to stand going over the bumpy sections. short days and smooth dirt it matter less, might actually prefer a lighter smaller tire at long as they are supple but at around 77 miles so you really start to feel it every time you need to stand over a little root or wave in the dirt of the C&O (nothing stressful but its a dirt road vs crushed gravel)

I'd like to see a shoot out comparing the Wentworth, Krumbein & Aggregate to the similar knobs from the competition. Like the G-One All-Around & Rutlands for example.

Based off this video I grabbed a set of Kimberlites for road just to try them
I only have Off-road or Road tires for my gravel bike and wanted an in between and these were a great deal that let me pull the trigger painlessly
Haven’t mounted yet but looking forward to trying them

Honestly, and I'm speaking as someone with nil budget and upgrading a department store bike to be just that little bit better and more fitting what I want?
Yes gimme. Those look like a nice upgrade that won't break the bank and as a bonus look pretty stylish.

Yep, they are, good upgrade for a bike like that.

Have the 40mm Wentworths on standby to be installed in a couple weeks. Just topped off sealant on my current Kendas so don’t want it to go to waste.

I bought a Wentworth (rear) and Krumbein (front) both 50c. They are ridiculously heavy (765 and 745 grams), smell like a zoo or farm, but ride amazingly fast on pavement. I'm still waiting to take them on singletrack. Both measured just shy of 48mm as noted in this video. For $70, I figured I would experiment, but there is no getting around the weight. These surely are a bikepacking tire. I'll probably ride them once or twice and put my Oracle Ridge tires back on which weighed around 485 grams.

Thanks! I opted for the 40mm Pirelli Cinturato-H for my Topstone because I love fast & supple! I just got Continental Race King Protection to mount on narrower rims on my full sus for road and gravel too. Unfortunately, there's far too much trial and error involved here that empties the pocket...

How have the Pirelli lasted? I have the same, but the rear is surprisingly showing wear after only 300 miles…

I like the idea of a $35 durable tire and still have two sets of American Classic Smoking Gun rims (29 and 27.5) that have held up great--so willing to give AC a try. I'll try a set of Kimberlites for paved/hardpacked gravel routes as I just had mounted up a pair of Fleecer Ridge 29'x2.25" (endurance) rode them for about 100 miles of gravel/dirt mountain roads where they were great and then did a short trip into Seattle with my wife and managed to put a nail or some road crap through one of them and loose all my air and half my sealant in about 10'. Right at the edge of a center knob something went in. Anyway managed to patch it up with bacon and it held the rest of the 9 miles home. Seems to have settled in just fine and holding 35PSI pretty well, but worried I'll blow it out far from home some day, so going to mount up a set of the Kimberlites and run them when I'm on roads. Two blowout flats in 5 years, one in DC after the GAP/C&O a mile from my endpoint and this one. I hate cities. Wish Herse had a 50% off replacement warranty. Anybody have much experience riding with a bacon patch for long periods of time--the Fleecer is otherwise pretty much brand new.

I’m about to try a pair of the Uddens once my schwalbe g-one bites bite (pun intended) the dust. I use my gravel bike for gravel (duh) and commuting. I am contemplating a second wheel set strictly for commuting and I think I’ll try the kimberlite for these.

I have the 40mm Krumbien on 17mm rims and they won't mount concentrically. Any idea what I can do?

So they really run smaller. I feel if you can find gravel kings at the same price online the gravel kings would be a much better purchase.

Do me a favor and sniff a clean set of these tires? They smell like manure to me. I left one unfolded in my garage and the whole place smells like poo now.

It's not just tires that are overpriced, EVERYthing in cycling is overpriced. Working in the industry for years, seeing the markup on this stuff makes me want to puke. Seeing a wireless rear derailleur sell for over $700 is laughable.

Maybe it's my eyesight, but the Wentworth knobs seem smaller than the Amazon photo. Somewhat disappointed but will use them for hard pack gravel roads

    • @BIKEPACKINGcom
      @BIKEPACKINGcom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

They are pretty short. Even though they are marketed for loose gravel, they certainly preform better on hard pack. I'm sure you will enjoy them.
