To do this kind of almost non-stop performing, singing in a different city every other day, takes incredible strength and the ability to pace yourself. So many burn out on the road, but Nightwish is different: They are truly a family. They always have each other's backs. Floor's initiation into the band was sudden and a stressful. Oh no, no. That's not how it went! Actually it went like this. A wizard (Tuomas), a Hobbit (Eppu), a Rohirrim (Marco), a pirate (Jukka), druid (Troy) and an elf (Anette) sailed to Lowlands where they met this Amazon princess (Floor). The Amazon heard the party play some tunes, and said: "I like you, I will be your new lead vocalist". The fairy said "Excuse me, I think I'm becoming sick..." And the rest said "Mmm... okay!" That's a story of Floor's stamina!
I was going to say, floor is the only female singer that I know who changes her colour about as much as dimash does. But to me it's even more seamless, cause you don't even fully realize for a second that she has switched. Then you think about it "oh yeah! She just did that!".
@this_is_my_country For example, I listened a vocal coach, dion't recall her or someone else, saying Anette is light soprano, Tarja is dark and Floor's voice colour is in between.
Äänensävyjä on mm. "kirkas, kuulas, tumma, pehmeä, lämmin" Äänen väri erottaa ääniä jotka on muuten samanlaisia korkeudeltaan, voimakkuudeltaan ja kestolta, ääniä jotka olisi muuten samanlaisia (wikipedia äänenväri).
@this_is_my_country Voipi olla. Tää oli musta hyvä video äänen väreistä laulussa th-cam.com/video/f2T3ey_w5gs/w-d-xo.html paitsi että kullakin laulajalla on tyypillinen väri, esimerkiksi Anetesta kuulee kuinka se on viattoman ja nuoren kuuloinen kirkas huolimatta mitä se laulaa.
I saw a lots of Vocal Coach Nightwish Videos, but this Lady seems the only one who explains it professional and it looks like she knows the stuff she´s talking about! :) And yes, Floor is awesome! :)
Yes! I was really looking forward to this one, thank you. Floor is just fantastic; songwriters dream come true because she's just so versatile. She even does death metal vocals. Perfect fit for Nightwish' versatile music!
I usually enjoy watching vocal coaches see her perform for the first time. They are almost always blown away by her talent and ability because they understand how difficult it is to do what she does as well as she does.
I saw Floor in Seattle for their very first show together. First it was packed, small venue but it was packed. The venue was shocked about how many people showed up on a Thursday night. Second, Floor was absolutely amazing even though she was an emergency replacement for the last half of the tour.
That’s it. You’ve done it you have summoned the Nightwish nation. They hoard will ascend on your channel with all sorts of requests now. Anything from this concert (Wacken), Wembley and Tampere are awesome. Thanks for your review.
Floor had a breakdown from her previous band and was recuperating when in 2012 Nightwish called her to stand in for their previous singer Swedish pop star Anette Olzon who had been hospitalized with a serious pregnancy. Nightwish had worked with Floor in the 2000s when she and her band After Forever opened for Nightwish on several European tours but now they needed a new singer. She had to learn the tour setlist in two days which she did on the plane from Holland to Seattle, Washington, where they were stuck with no frontwoman. After their South American tour they took a break then played Wacken in August 2013 which is this concert. Floor had been singing over an hour when Ghost Love Score came up. She killed it as you can see and hear. After this concert the band asked Floor to become a permanent member of Nightwish which she happily accepted! IMHO Floor Jansen is the top Symphonic Metal singer in the world today. She can sing any genre, even opera when the composition calls for it. Thank you for your expert vocal analysis it was very much needed. 😀
I basically just watch all those reaction videos to Ghost Love Score to see the reaction to the "Floorgasm", the scream towards the end of the song. Yours did NOT disappoint! Floor! Jansen! Is! So! Good!
@@jimmyboy131Well, on those songs she is just really belting - I wanted her to check out something more subtle. Also, with the outfit she is wearing at Wembley, you can watch her stomach go in and out and correlate it to her singing

Now have heard Floor but please do also Marco (Nightwish,Bass guitar). Example here Marco is leading singer: While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley Arena) Or: Nightwish - The Islander (Live At Tampere) Or: Nightwish - High Hopes live (Pink Floyd cover)
Great reaction and i think you are spot on comparing metal with opera, both the way they sing and how they use the instruments to convey different feelings. I have been listening to hard rock and metal since the early 80s and mostly italian operas since the early 2000s. They are both great forms of music.
This is definitely one for the ages and even watching vocal teachers/coachs react to Floor and be stunned is not surprising. Nightwish I didn't get into when I was younger because of the vocals of the opera type and back then I was into the hardcore metal. Over the years I've gotten respect for all bands in metal, Especially with Nightwish and the goddess known as Floor. Cheers and rock ya later.
The fuck???!!! Ive been a fan of this band and Kamelot since i accidentally downloaded Wishmaster and Wander on Kazaa in like 2002! Where's my fucking jacket?!
@@Alaethancar Accidentally downloaded? I nappstered everything from NW, After Forever, Within Temptation and few others on highschool as soon as I knew how to use it. Every time. Every, single, time. This gives me chills. They should have a camera and mic on Floor every time she sings a show, every time she rehearses or practices, etc. I would pay good money for random recordings of her.
Your point about having to sing over the band is spot on. Some of their other singers' voices got lost in the musical crescendo at the end of this song. Floor matches the crescendo and owns it.
What I love in Nightwish, besides their fantastic female lead singers, is the transitions in their music. You never know what's gonna happen next. And even when you know, it's so ever changing and complex, you don't tire to listen it.
Great reaction! I'd introduce you to more info on the band, but I'll do what everyone else does and wait for Ann Waychoff - she's kinda the queen around here for Nightwish intros
metal and old rock are related to opera because you need talent to perform ... but mostly symphonic metal that feed from trained sopranos ... you can check Therion "Schwarzalbenheim" (Live At Wacken 2007) or Kamelot "Abandoned" live, Roy Khan is also an opera trained singer, so he expresses many more things than meet the ear in his way of singing.

Romanticide , Poet and the Pendulum .all performed at the same show ,Wacken live 2013 .also epic Nightwish songs ..whatever you do save ...The Greatest show on earth for last live from Tampere ..its like their swan song and is a bit lengthy ,,but oh so worth it ..Enjoy your Nightwish journey ..
Anneke van Giersbergen. She's been in at least a dozen bands as either lead or guest singer. Amazing timbre and great breath control. Nightwish cites her original band, The Gathering, as an influence.
Thank you so much for your reaction on Ghost Love Score! Nightwish is amazing and Floor is just fantastic! The Dutch Metal-Queen. Please react to 'The Poet and the Pendulum'. (Live version, 2015.) Another truly amazing song.
Long time ago, way back in 1994 a 21 year old girl called Anneke van Giersbergen (Netherlands), and her band The Gathering, changed symphonic-melodic metal. A metal band with a female singer? Yes. But the way this girl used her voice was different... Not like you would expect from a metal or (hard)rock singer at all. Not in those days. (1994/1995) The Gathering even scored a hit single in Europe with ‘Strange machines’. So yes, before the amazing Floor Jansen, before Tarja Turunen, before all these other great and lovely female singers in symphonic metal bands there already was Anneke van Giersbergen. Today that 21 year old girl is still around, a little bit older, but still amazing and playing all over the world with her new band VUUR! th-cam.com/video/hZUJcOLd86Y/w-d-xo.html
What a great reaction. I've seen too many vocal coaches who stop the video excessively. Your one stop was well timed and subtle comments during was welcome. Then to hear you explain why you did not stop it was very important. Your knowledge of the vocals was well received by me. Thank you, I will return especially if you react to more Nightwish.
Thank you, that was very informative. I only came across this band a few days ago and I’m hooked on them, I’ve never heard a band sound like this before.
Floor is an epic goddess ❤ please keep the Nightwish reactions! I'm also asking for 2 amazing musical projects with many great musicians and vocalists: * The day that the world breaks down - Ayreon * The Scarecrow - Avantasia
To get more of a feel for where Nightwish started and what made them the preeminent band in the Symphonic Metal genera, you should listen to the song: "Phantom of the Opera" live with Tarja Turunen from the "End of an Era" concert. She was the first Nightwish singer and her sound helped create Symphonic Metal as we know it today. Floor is more versatile and has taken them further, but Tarja is still the voice that started it. Well worth listening to!!
Ahh! Welcome to Nightwish. I'm a simple man. I see a Nightwish reaction, I watch. If you will allow me, I would like to play ambassador and give you a potential order of songs to react to. This is like a fine dining experience, you don't want to jump past all the tasty appetizers and go straight to the main course! Below is the order I think helps you experience Nightwish fully and exposes you to their talents. Included is a TH-cam video ID and a brief description. 1 - Ghost Love Score (You're here, and it's a great way to be introduced to the band and Floor Jansen) 2 - Romanticide [zz_7OCCQlXs] (Now that you have a taste for the angelic, hear the heavy side of Floor. This will also introduce you to Marco's singing (bass player). Floor also shows her range in one grand slide from the bottom of her range to the top.) 3 - The Poet and the Pendulum - Live at "Webmley" [gbn9GczYBkw] (The video title has a misspelling. This is the second of the three epics. You'll definitely want to read the background to this song first.) 4 - The Phantom of the Opera [8VgLKXD-BoY] (After Pendulum, visit their former singer Tarja (Pronounced Tar-ee-ya) and her more operatic style) 5 - Yours Is An Empty Hope [XtXqUNB8zrU] (Another heavier song. I just find this song to be fun and it was recorded on the Nightwish Cruise! Listen for Floor Jansen's growling during the chorus!) 6 - The Greatest Show on Earth [45brzDJKZ3o] (This is the big one. A 21-minute song about the formation of our solar system and the rise of humanity.) After this, there are so many songs to visit. However, I feel the above really lets you dip your toes in slowly and enjoy the ride.
What a great reaction! Thanks so much for doing this and welcome to the Nightwish Nation. You've now experienced what we call a Floorgasm. She always has a way of finishing a song that leaves people shuttering. There's so much more to this band to explore should you feel inclined. I think you'd appreciate Nightwish - The Greatest Show On Earth (Live @ Tampere 2015) as she performs several different and distinct vocal styles there as well. Thanks again!
Nightwish was the genisis of the genre now known as Symphonic or Orchestral Metal. Starting in 1996 with Tuomas (keyboards) has written everything since the beginning. He is a master composer on a completely different level. He engages the other members for input and feedback as well as collaborates with them on things like vocal range etc. Marco (bass) sings also. Floor, in addition to being their front vocalist is also a voice teacher and coach when she isn't busy touring with the band. The band hails from Finland but she is from Denmark. They redefine performance art with their stage theatrics as well as their sound and she redefines showmanship not only with her presence but in the way she engages and command of the crowd. You can also see how she immerses herself if you watch more of their videos. This one was from their 2013 appearance at the music festival in Wacken, Germany. Their entire set in available on TH-cam if you look for it. However, if you REALLY want to be blown away by EVERYTHING they bring to bear, watch their 2019 performance from Wembly Stadium. You will have new found appreciation for all of their talents and skills. Their set culminates with a performance of "The Greatest Show On Earth". It is beyond prophetic th-cam.com/video/hMaJtY0xG00/w-d-xo.html
You make your reactions very interesting with the explanations you give. I lived in Finland-where Nightwish is from - for years. They’ve produced several good pieces.
it don't matter, genre, Style, xcetera... There will never be, before, during, or after will there ever be a vocalist as good as or like... Peter Steele! He was a genius songwriter, not afraid to put his feelings out on his sleeve what he's dealing with at the time when he's writing. We all know he can go way low, or high... He was just one of a kind and my favorite vocalists just about ever to me. R. I. P. My man Peter, you are definitely and surely missed... And now metal the vintage style, although the drab four we're a class in it by themselves, all metal is worse off without you guys being in it.
If you want to continue with Nightwish, I recommend The Greatest Show on Earth, which showcases all of Floor's abilities. I'd recommend Poet and the Pendulum as well, though it always brings problems for uploaders, so you decide yourself. If you want another band, go for Epica - Sancta Terra. Or After Forever - Distain.
Yeah if Epica go with their live retrospective concert, any of the songs this concert are great, but you could start with sancta terra featuring Floor so thats awsome too, but UNLEASHED live this concert is a great to start also
@@galeforce7765 A little correction: it's actually ReVamp with Disdain (live at Graspop 2010, I assume?). For After Forever, though, I would recommend Dreamflight (live 2007 at ProgPower).
I love Floor and her voice is outstanding. Her presence on the stage is huge. I'd love to catch Nightwish when they come to the states. Love your reactions and was hoping you can do some Steve Perry solo or/and Journey.
@@dougmphilly The Masai in Kenya are the tallest people. But as a whole country, I think Netherlands comes 1st. Egality in wealth and high proteine nutrition are some of the key words. It's so clearly visible where I am, in Finland, how earlier generations are much shorter. This was an agrarian country with a harsh climate, repeated famines and wars: our parents and grandparents were much smaller compared to the new generation, which is urban and has never suffered large scale hunger.
Great reaction video! Thanks for the awesome analysis. I learned some new stuff- metal/rock/opera is higher energy music than pop and folk, requiring powerful voices and consistent, proper vocal technique. You helped me understand the demands on rock/opera singers; tons of hard work and talent. I understand better why I love rock/opera/metal. The layers of sound and emotion transport me, an experience I don't get from other types of music.
Most of the vocal coach reactions I've watched for this song are girls in their 20s or early 30s. It's nice to see someone with more than 25 years experience giving her opinion on this masterpiece.
i really appreciate the informative analysis at the end. And! i feel vindicated about how i always tell people my favorite music genres are classical and metal.
I've watched other vocal coaches react to this song and I think it's cool that every single one have the same critique of not only the bands musicianship but also about Floor's (yeah, that's her name) vocal performance. How seamlessly blends opera and pop/ rock vocal styles. You should watch Floor's duet with the band, Epica.
Great reaction. I think that "The Poet and the Pendulum" with Floor and "The Phantom of the Opera" with Tarja would be perfect for your next Nightwish reaction.
Ghost Love Score is one of Nightwish's most iconic and recognized songs. So it's important to remember this was the first time Floor performed it. This concert is the reason Floor is my favorite of the three vocalists. She absolutely impressed the band at this show so they asked her to be the permanent vocalist. I personally think the band is at it's best now.
As a nightwish fan for over 20 years it’s awesome to see Americans finally catching on to good music. Question though: why do all vocal coaches react to the same songs? Nightwish has done so much more than ghost love score or poet and the pendulum.
Liked and subscribed. Love your take on this one. Thank you. I'll be very happy if you decide to do more Nightwish songs, you will find many diamonds and pearls like this one in their music. Please try Ever Dream, at the same concert (Wacken 2013) Thank you again.

The fairy said "Excuse me, I think I'm becoming sick..."
And the rest said "Mmm... okay!"
That's a story of Floor's stamina!
I was going to say, floor is the only female singer that I know who changes her colour about as much as dimash does. But to me it's even more seamless, cause you don't even fully realize for a second that she has switched. Then you think about it "oh yeah! She just did that!".
Changes the colour of her voice? From which to which and where it happens?
@this_is_my_country So don't tech, just tell me at what point the colour changes and which to. And I didn't complain about ANYTHING.
She rules the stage like a goddess
At 6'1" 200lbs and those muscles she has, Floor Jansen can rule any stage.
I usually enjoy watching vocal coaches see her perform for the first time. They are almost always blown away by her talent and ability because they understand how difficult it is to do what she does as well as she does.
Floor and Tarja are both fantastic singers,Phantom Of The Opera live with Tarja and Marco is incredible!
Have you heard Tarja and Sharon den Adel in Paradise(what about us?) Fantabulously awesome tune.
Marco carries that one the most! One of the best interaction in a duet though, certainly in metal!
Second to this! It's a great pick for reactions because you get to see Marco and it's a familiar song.
Tarja is vocal beast
have you heard floor siningin the phantom together with henk poort??? might want to check it out. the sung together in a dutch show{floor is dutch}
Oh G-d, you are so completely NOT wrong...lol
Floor! Jansen! Is! So! Good!
For some great voice control by Floor, listen to The Poet and the Pendulum live from Wembley
Also, Storytime and Everdream, from the 2013 Wacken show. And Romanticide, to get Marco and Floor together.
@@jimmyboy131Well, on those songs she is just really belting - I wanted her to check out something more subtle. Also, with the outfit she is wearing at Wembley, you can watch her stomach go in and out and correlate it to her singing
so gifted, I can't even listen to mainstream radio now that I've heard her powerful voice, you can tell she's well trained.
I'm so glad you did this song. I knew you'd be blown away by it. Fantastic reaction, and wonderful analysis of her voice and technique!! Thanks!!
You are so welcome!
Singing voice of Floor is so strong and pure that even NASA have plans to use it as an fuel power for space ships in interstellar voyages....Light speed for rock(et) is guaranteed.
Now have heard Floor but please do also Marco (Nightwish,Bass guitar).
Example here Marco is leading singer:
While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley Arena)
Or:
Nightwish - The Islander (Live At Tampere)
Or:
Nightwish - High Hopes live (Pink Floyd cover)
I think The Islander is great. It's so pure.
@@dianacanaveral8471 Well....It could be !
I love watching the joy in people's faces the first time they witness thos performance. Nice Floorgasm as well. 😉
Nightwish is one of the greatest things what has happened to humankind. If you give them a chance, you know why...
Welcome to the Symphonic Metal Appreciation Society. We have jackets. :)
And you still have the audacity to ask for a jacket?
Get in line, young padawan, you will get your jacket when you are ready for it. :D
...and the compliment to the drummer at the end....wauw...and ofcourse ..Floor .. just love
Floor is one of the Great singers..Period
Every time. Every, single, time. This gives me chills. They should have a camera and mic on Floor every time she sings a show, every time she rehearses or practices, etc. I would pay good money for random recordings of her.
Floor's last note is referred to as the "Floorgasm." She is a trained singer as well as a vocal coach.
I love it! Florgasm.
Yet another nightwish - ghost reaction vid, and i'm here! Love watching people react to this one, And this one does not dissppoint !
Your point about having to sing over the band is spot on. Some of their other singers' voices got lost in the musical crescendo at the end of this song. Floor matches the crescendo and owns it.
Thank you for explaining the difference in the different type of music and the way singers sing.
Yes!! I want to be educated too!
What I love in Nightwish, besides their fantastic female lead singers, is the transitions in their music. You never know what's gonna happen next. And even when you know, it's so ever changing and complex, you don't tire to listen it.
Oh, sorry Marko. I meant fantastic singers, of course!
it is cool that you Vocal Splendor has the style of this kind of artist!
I've developed a new habit and watch reaction videos to this amazing song
Epica Sancta Terra live feat Floor Jensen.
Nightwish is great. Floor Jansen is magnificent.
Great reaction!
I'd introduce you to more info on the band, but I'll do what everyone else does and wait for Ann Waychoff - she's kinda the queen around here for Nightwish intros
metal and old rock are related to opera because you need talent to perform ... but mostly symphonic metal that feed from trained sopranos ... you can check Therion "Schwarzalbenheim" (Live At Wacken 2007)
or Kamelot "Abandoned" live, Roy Khan is also an opera trained singer, so he expresses many more things than meet the ear in his way of singing.
Fredi Long Roy Khan🤘🏼The voice of god💪🏻
OH im si glad you like this .also enjoy ..Ghost river .
I love the Gathering
Only just found Floor and this song
I always cry when i hear her voice. Floor is the
best singer i've listened to in my life
Thank you for your claer explanation of the way the mouth makes the difference in style. Long versus wide.
watching again!
great.
Bloody great for someone you know to be at seatle!!!
I'm a simple man. I see Floor, I click.
This was song 13 of a 15 song set. Floor, God's gift to the world.
Lovely to see your true emotions listening this master piece. Thanks for share!
Romanticide, the same concert, Wacken 2013 =)
kiyzoom, if I could travel back in time - I‘d love to travel to that concert...
Because HOLY SHIT THAT ENERGY THOUGH! 😍😍😍
@@najrenchelf2751 same here. that was hell of a show
What a great reaction.
I'm also asking for 2 amazing musical projects with many great musicians and vocalists:
* The day that the world breaks down - Ayreon
* The Scarecrow - Avantasia
Just YES
1 - Ghost Love Score (You're here, and it's a great way to be introduced to the band and Floor Jansen)
2 - Romanticide [zz_7OCCQlXs] (Now that you have a taste for the angelic, hear the heavy side of Floor. This will also introduce you to Marco's singing (bass player). Floor also shows her range in one grand slide from the bottom of her range to the top.)
3 - The Poet and the Pendulum - Live at "Webmley" [gbn9GczYBkw] (The video title has a misspelling. This is the second of the three epics. You'll definitely want to read the background to this song first.)
4 - The Phantom of the Opera [8VgLKXD-BoY] (After Pendulum, visit their former singer Tarja (Pronounced Tar-ee-ya) and her more operatic style)
5 - Yours Is An Empty Hope [XtXqUNB8zrU] (Another heavier song. I just find this song to be fun and it was recorded on the Nightwish Cruise! Listen for Floor Jansen's growling during the chorus!)
6 - The Greatest Show on Earth [45brzDJKZ3o] (This is the big one. A 21-minute song about the formation of our solar system and the rise of humanity.)
After this, there are so many songs to visit. However, I feel the above really lets you dip your toes in slowly and enjoy the ride.
Thank you for the exhaustive list! I look forward to these!
Very informative! Thanks for the reaction.
Thank you!
absolutely love Nightwish.
You make your reactions very interesting with the explanations you give. I lived in Finland-where Nightwish is from - for years. They’ve produced several good pieces.
Great reaction. Floor is also a vocal coach.
Thank you for not pausing!!!
it don't matter, genre, Style, xcetera...
When you said "I want an outfit like that" I shouted at my phone "if you want it! Do it!!" you could most definitely rock that look!!!
"Nightwish - Phantom of the Opera" is another great song (cover) by them, it's their old singer and she's great!
Soy un tipo simple... Veo una reacción nueva de Nightwish -> Like
Nightwish: Phantom of the Opera live with Tarja (from End of an Era).
Jinjer: Pisces (live session).
Appreciate your reaction and words . That was really cool , respect 👍
I recommend Song of Myself from Wacken 2013. You get to hear the bass player's singing too. ;)
Nightwish makes me so happy :)
Floor is amazing, she is not your average woman... at 6 feet tall without heels, she is one powerful vocalist. You nailed this reaction to the tee!
the dutch are probably the tallest in the world.
To hear Floor in operatic and metal voice, the Stargazers live version from Tampere is another great choise :) Love this womans voice
Thank you so much!❤️
Floor & Nightwish are set to record their new album in the summer to be released sometime next year
Or released this year? I heard a few times 2019. Well, we'll see.
i really appreciate the informative analysis at the end. And! i feel vindicated about how i always tell people my favorite music genres are classical and metal.
Wow! I did not know this. Thanks for sharing. I'm even more impressed!
As a nightwish fan for over 20 years it’s awesome to see Americans finally catching on to good music.
Question though: why do all vocal coaches react to the same songs? Nightwish has done so much more than ghost love score or poet and the pendulum.
Because of requests I assume. People tend to request more popular songs and those that are in TH-cam, with good audio and video.
Great reaction. And like Alex said, you’ll hear from the beloved Ann Waychoff soon 😊
Please react to Nightwish The Phantom of the Opera from the DVD End of an Era
Eivor- Wake me up live.
she's a Faroese singer and she's really impressive!
Liked and subscribed. Love your take on this one. Thank you.
I'll be very happy if you decide to do more Nightwish songs, you will find many diamonds and pearls like this one in their music. Please try Ever Dream, at the same concert (Wacken 2013)
Thank you again.
i love her ascending descending at about 7:20.
Greathest bend in the world! Ang greathest singer(ARTIST) in the world EWER!! Nightwish EPIC
Nightwish is mu favorite band ever.
