This collection forced us to try some things we've never tried. We created an entirely new product because of these Sports Cards and Dave's story. The Burbank Card Show was our opportunity to show off Dave! - บันเทิง
"WE UNTIL THE END WE HAVE A SURPRISES!" ;-)
The things you guys do like sharing not selling brings tears to my eyes and I promise you that is what has made you so successful on the business end!
What is the song playing when the two of you leave the hat store?
That episode was perfect! Dave would have been very happy I think. I'm glad I got the chance to help Nancy and the family create a lasting story that has touched so many people. I teared up at the end when Marcel was handing out Dave's Packs. It was a perfect way to honor Dave. Thanks Chasing Cardboard. - Jeff
I can't express my gratitude enough for everything you do for the hobby. I'm 44 and fell back in love with this hobby a little over a year ago after a 20+ year absence. Although I'm still trying to navigate all the changes that have come within the hobby. Grading, collecting, selling, breaking, etc. One thing that hasn't changed is people's passion and love for these little pieces of cardboard. You two are what I call "real ones" in this hobby. While you have businesses that revolve around buying and selling. At the end of it all its not "all" about the money. It's about the connections to the people and the undying love of collecting. Thank you so much for your professionalism, your honesty, and your love of this hobby. ❤️ ❤
Really appreciate that Ryan. We love putting out content for ya!
Ya I hopped back into it about 4-5 years ago after a 20ish year absence and it had changed a ton. I learned the hard way for most of it, but still enjoyed myself along the way. Ebay is really the best place to buy, and do it by knowing which players/cards you want and watch auctions.
Well said my friend. I'm 46 years old and I also recently fell back in love with the hobby as well. Alot has definitely changed since I was a kid collecting card's. It's definitely a whole new world that's for sure. But thanks to TH-cam channels like Chasing Cardboard it will help me navigate through all the nuances that in the hobby today!
I just wanted to say that I am 44 and just got back into the hobby about 2 years ago, and everything you just said is so true. The thing that I am having the biggest time adjusting to is the grading, and the price of the product. I just wanted to wish you luck in your endeavors.
These guys are scum. I'd pay way more
Guys come on! This was the absolute best thing I have watching in like a thousand years. I dont even have words for how fantastic it was. It brought me back to my time with my own dad who passed away 2 years ago and brought me smiles with every thought. This was just so outstanding start to finish. The note you had on the repacks... what an awesome touch. His name is in the hands of kids for all the best reasons. Thanks so much for sharing the journey and most importantly the story! Way to go guys.
Really appreciate that Mike. Did you have a scene that you liked the most?
Wow. Really appreciate that Mike...incredible feedback. Was there a scene that you liked more than others?
Has to be the end when the repacks are given out followed closely by the conversion with the family on the plans for the repacks. It just brought the episode home perfectly.
Well done guys! Love how you took care of the family and honored a great collector 👊
Appreciate it Splendid!
Guys this was a beautiful family and Chasing Cardboard did it right honoring the memory of Dave’s love for the hobby and people! I have to say that this was done perfect!
Wow wow wow! Just finished this episode. So good!
The end was incredible. You guys put so much care into what you do an really give a lot. Thanks for sharing with all of us viewers. I hope the community continues to grow and give back to you the same way you give to others.
I’m sure Nancy and her family loved watching this episode and loved the way you helped continue the legacy.
Another wonderful episode. Well done.
Holy Crap guys, stop making me want to cry watching your videos. What you did for this lady and how you handled it was AMAZING!!!! ❤
Ha! We film and edit these for weeks... and still get emotional on release day. Appreciate you tuning in.
I liked how you pointed out how some people put the good stuff in binders! If you come from TCG like pokemon, yugioh, mtg, etc. That's standard. There's lots of art cards that make a full picture when you combine them in a binder. People still prioritize set building in those games. Especially pokemon. "Gotta catch em all" applies to cards, too. This guy probably just did it out of necessity for logging things. As not knowing what he had, was probably very frustrating. But if you find TCG collections. The binders are usually where the good stuff is. Most pretty, rare cards in tcg are not useful in decks. they're only fit for a binder. Just keep that in mind if you come across them. I saw a picture on reddit a while back of the kylian mbappe gold vinyl /5 rc sitting unsleeved in a binder. 😂 some people just like being able to easily see their cards.
You did it. I consider this your perfect episode. Ty and Marcel have the perfect balance with each other. Beautiful story. Nice collection. Outstanding touch with the ending scene. You are improving your style with each episode, props to the team.
Really appreciate that!
Remember when sports card radio tried to take you guys down. Yea that didn't work out for them. They haven't gained any followers this year and are making less and less content. Thank you for being one of the few channels that actually makes content instead of just taking about others
Great episode! I thoroughly enjoyed the day with the whole Chasing Cards crew! Genuine guys who enjoy what they do and appreciate the stories
Of the collectors. Thank you for appreciating Dave’s story and sharing his card packs at the Burbank show- awesome!
Dadgum - you guys do it again. You hit the emotion button all the time, joy, tears and just plum good times watching. Thanks
Haha!! What scene was your favorite?
Sorry for their loss. It makes me think that our time is so limited on this earth. This is a great collection. Are you selling that purple prizm Jarrod Goff. Im a lifetime Lions fan and need his Rookie card.
The ending literally brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for all you do.
That kitchen table discussion was wildly emotional. I’m speechless.
Great of you to send the Cards back to the family! Thanks guys for sharing! Take care! Eddie
Thanks Eddie!
Bravo! Such a great episodes. Your content is better than 99% of stuff being produced by "Hollywood"!
I don’t need to negotiate as long as you writing the check. Lol. Marcel dropped a nugget there. Great story. You make this show more about the people which I think is what makes you guys so special. I do have a question though. How in the heck did you guys find a collection in Texas without Mike. Is he still punished from the last deal he went on by his own. lol. The end is the best part. Making a kids day and seeing them smile is pretty special.
Mike should be feeling guilty he wasn't there to help you load....I think he's going to be enjoying a World Series victory too. Texas has too many bats.

I’ve rewatched this episode 3 times. Such a heartwarming episode with so many great cards and stories. Love seeing cards put back into the community!
Oh wow! Thanks for rewatching.
Amazing episode! Thanks for helping Nancy and family!
I think it's awesome how generous you were buying this collection. That really touched my heart. Y'all are so good to people. Card collecting and selling can be cut throat, but your example is a true inspiration.
It is great how you make everyone aware of the time it takes to organize, grade, market, and actually sell the cards. Even the time to go through the collection and transport the cards. Tons of respect for Ty and Marcel making a living honestly and providing a great experience for the hobby.
Thanks so much!
Another fabulous episode. Shows like this make me want... no NEED to get my cards in order so my family isn't stuck when I am gone. I knew you would find the Ryan and send it back to the family. Never thought about you grading it first though. All class all the time.
This was my favorite episode to date. So cool.
Wow! That's great to hear. Thanks for watching.
This by far has got to be the greatest TH-cam video I’ve seen relating to sports card’s Great job Chasing Cardboard keep them coming.
Wow, thanks!
Great episode. I've often thought about the burden it would be for my wife or kids to deal with my collection when I'm gone. I've slowly been trying to weed out the junk wax and commons that just aren't worth anything. Problem is, I remember just about every card pulled or purchased. I'm a little too attached to them😢😅
HA! We can relate to that.... we get attached to certain cards within these purchases in the same way. Did you have a favorite scene?
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD I was amazed at the logging of cards he had done. Mine are so unorganized and mixed. Somebody will find a diamond in the rough in mine one day..🤣
There is definitely a spectrum in this hobby that ranges from the good guys who love collecting and sharing their collection with others, all the way down to the guy who will scam just about anyone to make a buck. Dave was definitely at the pinnacle of the good guy end of the spectrum and although it’s sad to lose someone like him in this hobby it’s good to know that his cards went to someone who is going to do what Dave would have wanted done with his collection.
this was a beautiful episode. everything I love about the hobby was displayed here.
First off, great job guys. This is actually an important video to collectors (or at least to me). Namely, make sure you leave instructions of what parts of your PC are valuable. Provide guidance. Think about it, your loved ones are already grieving, and the last thing they want to do is learn about value in this hobby. My concern is that if you don't do this, your loved ones may just give your valuable cards away, and not capture value. And surely we wouldn't want that outcome as collectors.
Thanks so much for the feedback...and we completely agree.
Rip off widowers and amateurs. So nice of them. There is a reason they can't ever get a deal done at a card show. These ppl are gross wolves in sheep's clothes
Awesome 40 minutes. Watched while I was deer hunting. You guys are awesome. What a nice thing you did to honor Dave's legacy!
This episode easily became an all-time favorite.
Maybe the best episode yet think after grading you guys will do well with those cards
You guys are such great guys. He always watch out for the person that you’re buying from. I hope there’s more people out there like that. God bless you guys.
Thanks for the love and support!
The best deal and episode yet. Great stuff!
Wow he must have spent 100k opening packs. This collection is crazy
Definitely opened a lot of packs. Thanks for tuning in.
Worth way more than 15,000
Hopefully it is...because we paid 15k. Thanks for tuning in.
BOOM. People tend to forget that you're running a "Business" to support your family and the value of your "Time" to get these sold and your money back. @@CHASINGCARDBOARD
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD absolutely.... that was very nice of you guys for giving her what she asked for! .... I think once you guys get the cards that are worth it graded you should be able to make a nice profit! 🤞 best of luck guys....love your videos
Truly...those Pat Mahomes Silver Prizm RC graded 10 will cover the bulk of the purchase price.
Business not a playground...u put in the work you get rewarded...good karma to boot..top not show..netflix where are u?
This was a heartwarming episode.
15K seems a fair deal considering all the resources involved in selling the collection.
Also, I get the feeling that the family was not after squeezing every dollar out of the cards but instead doing something that Dave would have liked to see.
But, this got me thinking into how much we spend into our collections and probably end up selling for way less.
Simply fantastic guys!
Thank you very much. Have a favorite scene?
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD it’s hard to say. The entire piece was put together so well. The storyline really came together, and had a professional feel throughout.
Dam!!! I would have paid a lot more for that collection…great buy guys
You just keep outdoing yourselves! Bravo!
Love the story, love the deal you guys made with her, BUT, you guys should have bought the felt hats rather than the straw hats…you would have looked a bit more “Cowboy” authentic.
What a great episode. My condolences to Nancy and her family for their loss. I think his passion for the hobby was evident and was passed on through the mystery packs. I had left the hobby for a little over a decade after suffering a significant loss to thieves. I had been collecting for about 25 years and it hurt my soul when I lost what I did. Years later, I started back collecting but I could never fully capture the passion I once had. I stumbled across your videos and it lit that fire back in me. This episode brought back memories along with questions about my future in the hobby. I am excited about my future and it's because of you guys, and this beautiful family that cemented my ideas. Thank you so very much, your work is bigger than you probably imagined.
Sincerely,
Alan Fife
Love this family and story! As a collector this situation weighs heavy on my mind. Excellent work gentlemen!
Your show highlights the passion of how sports cards can connect people and build memories. Great episode.
This video is beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks so much!
Best video yet, Keep up the hard work!
Appreciate it
What a great episode and gesture by you guys to go above and beyond to make the family feel good about the deal. Keep being a bright spot for the hobby!
Thanks so much!! We'll keep telling the stories!
Great episode. My favorite so far.👍👍
Wow. Really appreciate that!! Have a favorite scene?
@CHASINGCARDBOARD i loved how you thought of his family first. And what a great collection.
Great video again. Beautiful sharing the cards.
I hope you do the collectors random packs from everyone who you buy a collection from.
Truly genius!
Everything about this show is awesome.
Daves collection
random card pack giveaways to kids.
What a great way for that respect to live on in the younger generations.
A wonderful way for them to get great cards starting off.
💯🔥❤️
Wish we could. Dave had a ton of great cards that we could do that with. Most of the collections we get don’t. Plus we have to pay for gas, hotels, storage, uhaul, food, and pay ourselves back. Maybe one day we’ll start drawing a salary?!
This show never disappoints! What a fantastic collection.
What a truly emotional show. I wasn’t even mad you didn’t show a ton of the collection. You guys hit it out of the park. It was a win win for everyone involved including the viewers. Thank you.
Scamming ppl to sell off their collection worth may more. They are scumbags. Maybe pay more and tell them truth on how under valued this is
Man you guy's really did a great job with this video really touching story!!!!!
Thank you so much!
I used to collect baseball cards my favorite set was the 91 topps stadium club.
Heck yeah!!!!
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD The coolest card in the set was Nolan Ryan
Great stuff, fellas! Met Marcel at the Burbank Card show and he gave my daughter one of those awesome packs. Thanks for sharing!
Good work, gentlemen. Very honest and fair.
It's clearly an awful time for the family, so for them to deal with people such as yourselves just makes the daunting process that little less daunting.
Really well handled, lads! Very respectful, very reasonable, very classy!👍
Keep up the great work, keep spreading the love... and that touch to hand out free cards to children in the gentleman's memory was such a great thing to do for him, and for his loving family.
As the saying goes, 'you get more bees with honey, than vinegar'. Have a wonderful week. 👍
Great episode. That really highlights the situation many of us feel as we get older and don't want to burden our families with our collections.
Such a great story. Great video🎉 as always. Love the content. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Thank you so much Hannah!
I told my wife that if anything unexpected happens to me to reach out to you to sell my collection. Hopefully it’s not for another 30-40 years! Lol. ⚾️🔥
Haha! Well... don't go doing anything crazy. We'd rather you be around to watch episodes.
It makes me unbelievably happy seeing some of these cards going to kids.
You and us both!
Just the cheap ones 🥹😭 and after hustling a widower, they are too wholesome
This was a great episode! Super nice family and I love that you guys gave out the repacks.
Thank you for watching until the end. :-)
Great story and video ❤😊
Ty, you guys are awesome man! I can tell that Jesus resides in your heart, by the way you interact with people. Keep up the good work brother!
This episode gave me the chills! Love to see these!!
Wonderful episode - you all did it right. One love!
I am very emotional for that family and this video… I know u buy collections and many of them are like this situation… Its so intriguing to watch and emotional and I feel both sad and happy at the end.. its like the perfect movie that puts u thru the rollercoster of emotions… good video… enjoyed it so much !
Man, I can't express how much I love your channel. I've been collecting since a single-digit age, I've learned a lot from just watching. Thanks
outstanding and great job
Thank you RJ! Favorite scene?
@@CHASINGCARDBOARD give back some cards to his daughter???
Fantastic episode guys. Really well done and hit home for me as I need to pair down everything into just a few boxes of my treasures to hand down to my kids. 2 boxes of graded junk wax is easy to handle.
Fantastic work Ty! Keep chasing! 😊
Nice History and Collections....
brought tears to my eyes many times
The wife aces, the guy helping aces, that Prizm orange Jokic aces
Thats why you guys are the best..Seeing the smiles on those kids faces, and the family knowing those cards are going to great guys..I tell all my friends this is the best card show
What an episode! This was a good deal, but it was the RIGHT deal for both parties involved. Thank you for telling a story that needed to be told and respecting everyone in the process.
Thanks so much for tuning in!
This is what the world needs. All those smiles……from looking at a piece of cardboard. Great episode! ❤
Couldn't agree more!
this was a awesome video.
I am a 90's collector so when marcel was looking at the mahomes prizms I was like Oh that manning 1998 bowman 50th is fire! Your eye quickly caught it too! Cool collection, nice giving quality cards out to kids!
Very cool!
You guys rock. Good job outta you
You guys are awesome and put out great content. This is what the hobby should be about. Thanks for doing what you do
Just when you think they can’t get any better these episodes blow you away. Amazing work to everyone involved!
That ending. Are you kidding me. So good
RIP DAVE!!!!!
Loved this episode. Very special
Thanks Mav!!
I would say this is probably one of the best things I’ve watched all year
Wow! That's super nice of ya... you enjoy the other episodes as well?
Such a great episode...Thank you guys!
I really enjoy your shows and hope I don’t come across as a troll but how do you make it work if you’re buying a collection that you value at $15,000 (or slightly more) and pay $15k then have your mentioned grading fees and on top of that, your travel and production costs, how do the numbers add up? I mean people may think it’s low-balling but a lot of times when people (who aren’t into cards) try to appraise a collection they add every card. IMO the price is based on the high dollar cards and cards that will move fast. Most of that looked like value bin stuff or stuff that may sit in an eBay store for a year or more. Plus the fact that they’re selling it ALL to one party is big. Now they’re done with it.
Absolutely loved this episode guys !! I noticed that topps chrome betts rc Gold refractor 🤯🤯 what an insane card. Really awesome you guys are making those packs to spread his collection around what a great idea. Great job and thank you for sharing this. 🤙🤙
Appreciate that DoubleD . Yeah, huge fan of that Mookie!!!
3:38 that cash deal with the dude on the side of the road 😂
What was the grade on the Brady?
Good pricing. That guy who helped got a nice card. All is well
Love the hat!!
I'm not telling Ty this....
Wow! This was so awesome. Cheers!
I am just sitting back, relaxing, preparing for a couple days of intensive work helping a friend with a project.....and then I find this video. Wow, what a collection! Wish I had the discipline to keep what I have in a spreadsheet like that. You and Marcel work great together. Great ending.
Hmmm... wonder what you are working on. ;-)

Totally!
These videos are such high production value I think I'm watching a show on Discovery. Worth pitching the idea to them!
Awesome job fellas 👏
Thanks for the visit
THIS ONE OF THE MOST AWSOME VIDEO YET!!
