You guys always make the best out of any situation that’s for sure. Love the CC attitude. Really cool shop for sure. Just with as much high value items he has, I can’t believe there was a negotiation over $50, especially with you guys who promote and educate about the hobby hustle and are literally making an entire episode about his shop for thousands to see. Deals are an essential part of the hobby ecosystem.
Yep, and unfortunately that is how shops are today. Like we’re supposed to be impressed and happen to have thousands of dollars to buy modern junk. I’ll stick to my small LCS that has been in business for 40 years because they actually want to sell cards.
Cards AND coins! I would be in there all day. Looking forward to more episodes. I enjoy seeing you and Marcel together. Kudos to you for getting him out of his element.
Also, the fact that you put him on your TH-cam channel which is going to get thousands of views and get him more customers in his shop to see how he acted towards you is just unbelievable to me. Multiple card deal, cash and new customer, you helping promote his shop. This guy was not smart at all. I would never deal with this guy, EVER.
Chasing Cardboard is literally going to bring hundreds of people to that card shop by visiting and advertising his shop. Then he has a hard time giving him a deal. The amount of exposure this video will bring I mean I know they don’t expect that but the fact he was so hard up on selling at a discount was unreal imo.
Collectors don't necessarily make the best businessmen, and this is a glowing example. The new owner of the store seems like a good lad, but would be frustrating to deal with. It's his prerogative, of course, to sell his cards for whatever price he 'feels', but his unwillingness to let go of his stash gives the public more the impression that he's operating a free museum, more than a viable profit-based business. I wish him the best of luck. As always, thank you CC team for the upload. 👍
I’d be surprised if this guy let you buy a gumball from the gumball machine. Good luck to him, but I can’t see him lasting a year (unless he’s super independently wealthy and just using the store as a front to buy for his PC.)
I’m assuming he has 10,000 Bitcoin…hope that works out for him too. Remember, when you hold 1,000 lbs of cardboard, like 10,000 imaginary numbers on a computer screen, that value can all be wiped away in a flash and end up worthless in the long run.
A card shop is a different venue where the owner prices. So I'll never agree with "saving you eBay fees" because you're not buying them on eBay. 😂 Plus, the same logic can be used to say you're not paying sales tax on each card. So, it has to be mutually beneficial for both the buyer and the seller.
im new to the channel and im gonna say that if you guys had just walked out and not bought anything i would not have been mad at all. that owner was something else.
Really cool looking little shop with a modest inventory. He just doesn't seem to want to part with a lot of his high end cards. As a shop owner and business you need to take the personal part out of the equation. I know it's hard to let go of some cards but you've got to make money. Great episode.
It’s difficult to watch a dealer who seems more concerned with himself than the customer. It was like watching a teenager negotiate. I’m definitely not drawn to that shop. Sorry you had to suffer through that experience! But thank you for the cool episode, and it definitely has the makings to be a great shop!he just needs a change in his approach.
I hope that dude took the lessons you were trying to teach him to heart. Otherwise, he won't last very long. At that point, he can pack up his beloved collection and go home.
Asking eBay prices is delusional because you aren't counting the fees, time and postage and handling. (And the fact that you can lose everything you send if a customer says item not as described and eBay will give them a immediate refund and you will get nothing in return including your merchandise. ) Also: People order $50.00 and up items and cancel the order immediately... eBay gives them a immediate refund out of your account and you have to wait for their payment but they can cancel any card order and rob you completely. ⚠️ Dealt with it all and never again will I use eBay as a selling platform.
You can tell the shop owner is truly passionate about the hobby and his cards. He’s obviously playing a balancing act between love of the game and business and you know what, that’s okay! He’s on a new journey mixing his passion and business and that looks different for everyone. (some people in comments need to relax) …Love your style of content it makes for a nice story and adventure, I only wish I could do something similar to what you do. Maybe one day!
I've done business with Kevin for years. He's a humble, easygoing guy, and really easy to work with. He's a blast to hang out with and talk cards, and I highly recommend checking his place out if you're in the area.

I’m sure he can afford to stay open without moving around so much inventory. He seems happy where he is at and you have to respect that.
That is wild. This guy has a shop to essentially boost his ego. He doesn't want to sell anything. I have been into a local silver & gold shop in PA and the guy was the exact same way. 2.What animal do you get bear skin from?
When you're on the road and passing a large graveyard go , "Wow! I wonder how many people are dead in there?". Usually the passenger offers a guess of a number. The answer you tell them is "All of them".
