@CallMeSnowwy yeah but they will be hunted of ghost children and spooky man for the rest of their life.. actually it seems like the best solution is for the parents to kill the kids.
“So a family was hung in our backyard?” James: Well, hanged, but yeah. I love how casual of a response this is and imagining an actual conversation going like that is hilarious
I mean, to be bleak, in real life. that dog would probably be euthanized or worse case scenario it would have starved to death cause all of its food comes from a can or bag.

So props to the director for actually caring about his cast enough, to fire the first guy, and hire a guy who would be able to make sure they are safe and the scene is done right.
The intro of the Stevesons getting hanged lives rent free in my brain to this day. I went in expecting a more intense movie than the other supernatural films of the time but the fact that it just gave you ZERO time to ease you into the snuff film vibe really shocked the hell outta me. Might be why it’s still my fav of the genre.
13:13 FUN FACT TIME :) This jumpscare sound was previously used as a jumpscare sound for an indie "fanmade" game based off of Slender called Survivers. In this game you play with your friends with the same purpose as slender, find items scattered throughout the map however, this time you are being stalked by a killer werewolf. If you spot the werewolf, you will see it's bloodshot eyes and the same jumpscare sound will play, just as loudly as in the video here. :D
Once I heard that real actors actually did the pool scene , the next scene shows a family getting cut from the neck. Tell me why I thought he was going to say “this scene was actually shot by real actors and really got cut, with medics waiting just in case” 💀

This movie has been scientifically announced as the scariest movie of all time. Audience’s heart rates were higher than any recorded reaction for any movie.
Not "scariest". There's a difference between frightening and scary. A jump scare will give you an automatic fright and raise your heart rate but that's completely different to other types of horror films which don't relly on jump scares. Your heart rate wont be as high watching them because there arent sudden jump scares BUT it doesn't change it from being "scary".
In my opinion, the scariest jumpscare in this movie is when Bughuul jumpscares Ellison in the attic when all the creepy children are there, runner up would be the last tape with the lawnmower
Low key the very last jumpscare at the very end of the movie got me the most, which I now find hilarious because it was basically just one last “fuck you” before the credits roll
Funny little story I'll share. I was in grade 9 when this movie released and live in a pretty heavily forested area, one of my friends went to go see the movie late at night and rode his bike to the theatre. He told me the next day it was one of the scariest experiences of his life as he had to ride his bike through pitch black forest trails for like an hour to get back home.
That's why you take a trusted friend to the scary movies. You can bike through the woods and see creepy shi together. In a not sexual way of course gotta keep it PG.
My mom told me that she had to watch IT with her big brother when she was 12. Because her parents were both working late and her brother was sick she then had to walk the family dog afterwards. She said that that walk was one of the scariest moments in her life
13:03 has GOT to be my favourite tape. The rest are just kills, but that one was a great jumpscare that still gets me, AND a gruesome kill. Top tier horror
Seeing as a recurring feature of my nightmares is sitting around a table in a social setting and I keep knocking over glasses and making a clumsy mess, perhaps I shouldn't be a horror writer?

this movie really does stand out to me as the one horror movie that really got to me. and that final jumpscare... MAN. it's like they were building up to it the whole movie, because when I saw it, I jumped and instinctively threw myself under my bedcovers. I was only 12 or 13 maybe. and that one scene where bughuul's image comes to life and looks at Ellis for a second and then goes back to normal before he sees??? that shook me to my core
i smell like old women I mean... it is easy to mix them up if you’re not thinking about it (I mean, their names fit each other just as much as themselves).
Hysterical Chike what do you mean man? How could you hate it when people keep making the same unfunny joke? Comedy gets better the more over done it gets.
Mr Spookyface is a good name and all, but I really love the little touch of turning the demon’s name, Bughuul, into something that a child would be able to spell.
This is the only horror movie that terrified me for life Edit: I have seen hereditary and yes it freaked me out it was the 2nd creepiest movie that i have watches also thx for 700 likes
I watched this movie in a hotel while working way from home. A nice pair of headphones sound to the max and a 17 inch laptop…. And that night I woke up like 10 times tripping balls, hearing noises and the soundtrack from the movie. I wanted to call it a week and drive 4hours back home. One of the scariest night of my life.
This movie creeped me out so badly. The home movie footage and the score just unsettles me so badly. Like so uncomfortable just the sounds on the dvd menu freak me out.
It was one of the first horror movie I ever saw. My best friend is loving these movies while I'm a little chicken when it comes to horror. So you can imagine how fucking terrified I was. we had to pause the movie after the lawnmower jumpscare because I needed a break and a smoke xD
This movie is so disturbing, you expect them to survive. But then they become victims and their own daughter also succumbs to the demon. Dang, that's good writing
@Tawkua actually this very common situation is solved by the fact that he is searching for inspiration for his new book, so he actually has a purpose, he doesn’t view them just for the fun of breaking rules.
It took me a while to see the "Sinister" movies but I still remember being disturbed by those kids killing their family in these ways, even as an adult.
Even though the lawnmower scene has the best jumpscare, i think that the scene where spookyface turns and looks at the camera and looks back before the father can see is the scariest part
Not Worth yeah honestly that got the biggest reaction out of me when I saw it in the theatre, was genuinely terrifying and I rarely ever get scared by movies
Fun fact: My mom took me to see this movie when I was little, thinking that it was gonna be some cliche, haunted house movie. I remember the opening scene of the hanging family catching me off guard, but it didn't bother me. When the lawnmower scene came on, my mom said I started screaming, flailing, and crying. Apparently everyone in the theater screamed almost at the same time I did. Honestly, I don't remember it, but now that I think about it, I find it kinda funny😂😂😂
I’ll never forget watching this movie alone in bed at night, thought it was gonna be cheesy and then couldn’t move for hours after bc I was terrified! I love a good jump scare, this movie should be up there with the many horror icons. It genuinely scared the hell out of me!
Watched this with my fiance when it came out and we had a running joke of Bagul being this perpetually exhausted parent when he's not doing his thing considering he's taken in so many damn kid which made it significantly less scary.
michael williams Actually mate, you can use hung or hanged for the past participle and preterite. It’s just in the UK, it’s more common to say “to be hung, or have hung” than hanged. It’s like how I would use “learnt and spilt” and you would say “learned and spilled”
Well, a lonelyisland reference is always great, i saw this kill count few times already and still get a good little laugh out of james singing both "it's a boy in a box" and "it's a boy in a bush", but i think the "box" suits it a little but better then the bush :D
@@maritzaaviles6264 really? I dod not even notice :O i will have to rewatch it now xD but here in the sinister one he says both, "Box" and "Bush" due to having the opportunity with the sleepwalking kid ^^
I mean, it makes sense when you think that the whole thing is a ritual sacrifice. Mr. Spooky-Face clearly prefers human blood to good boy blood, and you need to feed your evil gods the proper diet.
“The movie has a lot of jumpscares and I’m going to be using some too” Well, it was fun watching this episode with no sound and TH-cam’s automatically generated subtitles.
Axel Nilsson I haven’t watched the kill count yet but if it has that lawnmower jumpscare I ain’t touching it with a 10ft pole. That shit traumatised me

Mr Spookyface is a good name and all, but I really love the little touch of turning the demon’s name, Bughuul, into something that a child would be able to spell.

It was one of the first horror movie I ever saw. My best friend is loving these movies while I'm a little chicken when it comes to horror. So you can imagine how fucking terrified I was. we had to pause the movie after the lawnmower jumpscare because I needed a break and a smoke xD

"Sinister"(2012) is an excellent supernatural horror movie, which has a powerful direction, and also creepy and very dark atmosphere!
This movie is so disturbing, you expect them to survive. But then they become victims and their own daughter also succumbs to the demon. Dang, that's good writing
@Tawkua I mean, the horror movie had to happen someway :/
@Tawkua thats literally 90% of horror movies. Dumb people making dumb decisions and it ends up costing their lives
@Tawkua actually this very common situation is solved by the fact that he is searching for inspiration for his new book, so he actually has a purpose, he doesn’t view them just for the fun of breaking rules.
The writing in this movie is not good at all, especially the dialog.
@Tawkua really dude? If that would happen, then we wouldn't have a movie. Stop whining bruh

Jamie Te-Whau yes he can, That is what you are supposed to say. Hanged is the past-tense of hang. (as in the killing kind)
michael williams Actually mate, you can use hung or hanged for the past participle and preterite. It’s just in the UK, it’s more common to say “to be hung, or have hung” than hanged. It’s like how I would use “learnt and spilt” and you would say “learned and spilled”
