First saw the Boss 1976, Born To Run tour. To say he has been a huge part of my life would be an understatement! Nobody rocked harder or wrote better lyrics than Bruce. Saw everyone of his tours. My 17 year old loves him. Seeing Blinded By The Light tomorrow, can’t wait!!
My father served in the US Navy on the USS Shenandoah ZR-1. Was the last crewman alive. US Navy gave him a Big Thank you at Lakehurst Naval center NJ. He loved this song.
He just keeps getting better and better both as a singer/songwriter and as a human being. Bruce is one of those rare people who has built a legacy which will stand the test of time. If he were from the UK, Sir Bruce would be his title and not just for the music but for all of his work, care and concern for the folks around him in the real world......when will we see his like again
If he was in Ireland he'd just go into a traditional pub sit down and jam with the rest of the musicians (or join the session as the traditional folk call it)there you don't wait to be asked over here you just do your thing and enjoy
Can't say I know much about the Shenandoah Mountains or River....but listening to this song with my morning coffee brought me to an era of Mark Twain on the Mississippi. Another example of "recontextualising"? Nice notes by Patti at the end.
I've always loved this song we used to sing it in our school Choir. I love, love, love this version. It's a long time since I've heard it, I don't know if it's the Irish in me which explains so much. Up until 10'years ago my whole family was attracted to all things Irish and then my Sister did our family tree and it turns out we've got a lot of Irish in both sides. Not only that our Irish Relies came to Australia as free settlers in 1878 , which in the scheme of things was not really that long ago, but it does explain why we were attracted to all things Irish.🎼♥️🇦🇺♥️🇺🇸💋🕺🏻💃🎆💯%

The original lyrics:
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you,
Hurrah, you rolling river.
Oh, Shenandoah, I’ll not deceive you,
We’re bound way ’cross the wide Missouri.
Oh, Shenandoah, I love your daughter,
I love the place across the water.
The ship sails free , the wind is blowing,
The braces taut, the sheets a-flowing.
Missouri she’s a mighty river,
We’ll brace her up till her topsails shiver.
Oh, Shenandoah, I’ll leave you never,
Till the day I die, I’ll love you ever.
Makes my Irish blood flow. I wish more than anything to walk upon my ancestral ground beneath my feet.
Me too, lass, me too !

Your’re the boss always. Since my 12th. I’m 48 now. Thank you Bruce for all this years.
I love this song and I’ve only just found this with Bruce singing this with Patti too amazing thank you for the music ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I ❤ You Bruce From A Small Town Illinois Fan. My Dream is to meet you. ❤
I'm from a small Illinois town too. Close to Urbana
First saw the Boss 1976, Born To Run tour. To say he has been a huge part of my life would be an understatement! Nobody rocked harder or wrote better lyrics than Bruce. Saw everyone of his tours. My 17 year old loves him. Seeing Blinded By The Light tomorrow, can’t wait!!
hearing and feeling thank you for helping when the days are good enough
Merci de chanter ainsi ce rendez-vous manqué avec l'histoire
My father served in the US Navy on the USS Shenandoah ZR-1. Was the last crewman alive. US Navy gave him a Big Thank you at Lakehurst Naval center NJ. He loved this song.
USS Shenandoah was an Airship based out of Lakehurst NJ
I love your music Bruce Springsteen your my favourite artist
die für mich beste Version dieses wunderbaren Songs
Kralju prelepa pesma, nežna,osećajna. Dok je pevaš, osećam toplinu u tvom glasu. Božanstveno Brus. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋.
Yesss!! ❤❤❤🇨🇭
@@ulrichwill496 Hvala što vam se svidja moj komentar. ❤️❤️💋.
👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭🇨🇭
If he was in Ireland he'd just go into a traditional pub sit down and jam with the rest of the musicians (or join the session as the traditional folk call it)there you don't wait to be asked over here you just do your thing and enjoy
@@Minime163 have you listened to his Dublin concert with the sessions band. Amazing
@@patriciaeddishaw9244 no must do thanks for the info

Bruce is the GOAT !
Can't say I know much about the Shenandoah Mountains or River....but listening to this song with my morning coffee brought me to an era of Mark Twain on the Mississippi. Another example of "recontextualising"? Nice notes by Patti at the end.
I've seen Bruce and the Seeger Session Band live in Cologne when I was around 10 or 12. My first concert ever and still my favourite
This album saved my life back in 2006, when my best friend died
How did he die
Music can be our salvation. I hope you’re okay. All the very best to you.
God bless you
It saved mine too....after a stroke the album and his concert here helped me on my path to recovery
God bless.
Gracias senor Bruce por existir, venir a este mundo y haser tanta musica bonita. Le admiro y me encanta toda su musica, larga vida, con mucha salud.🤗🤗🤗
👍👍❤️❤️❤️ Greetings from Switzerland!
Me too,how are you doing Donelle hope you’re safe from the virus?

Great stuff by the boss. I rewrote the lyrics a bit and gave it a try. Not Bruce worthy but still another take on this Heartland classic. Peace… m.soundcloud.com/bobborealis/oh-shenandoah
