The thing with the bike is that you learn how to do it all the harder way, so the day of it's easy peasy. Practice is usually so much harder than the actual performance day.
@@uphone7110i’m not the original commenter but i feel the same way they do and i would want to do a triathlon just for the experience. getting to say you were in a triathlon is really cool and you’ll always know that you tried something new even if you knew you wouldn’t love doing it.
My country does mini triathlons, for example 10km on bike, 5km running and then less for swimming. And not just for kids, also for adults! I feel the exact same way you do, but I might try one of those mini triathlons just for the fun of it
Laughs in disabled triathalon. Hand cycle $4,000 used. Racing chair $6,000 used. Then add on clothes, registrations, helmet and other adaptive equitment. Getting into racing cost me about $8,000 to find out I didn't love it.
Standard triathlons are insanely expensive too. Not sure where she picked up all this bargain bin stuff. Most people spend as much on their bike kit as she did on her entire setup.
I've worked as a mechanic and salesman at multiple bike shops. They should have had a conversation with you about the improperly sized bike. I could tell from the video that it was 2-3 sizes too big. They didn't care and just took your money. I wouldn't go to that shop ever again
I understand that they didn't sell you the bike, my post wasn't clear on that though and the misinterpretation is on my end. Where I have issues is that they billed you for repairs without having a conversation on the correct bike for you and your goals. Perhaps they did, but if not that's the kind of practice that indicates they don't have your best interest in mind and just want your money. Either way it sounds like you found a good shop in the end and commend you for getting into the sport. Best of luck in your next races!
Please don’t cheap out on the helmet and get a reputable brand with MIPS! Could really reduce the severity of a concussion. Cheap everything but safety gear should always the be latest and greatest. Same with good tires and brakes. Good luck in your new hobby!
You gotta take off the $160 for the bike you bought and had fixed, cause that wasn't used for the triathlon. I know that's what you bought it for, but it was a mistaken purchase. Your actual cost was $358.86, but some of those things you purchased at a higher price than necessary. I bet it could be even lower. Good on you for doing a triathlon, though!! That's amazing stuff!
The cost is temporary but the experience will always be remembered.

@@samanthajade3782 yes! The bike was a breeze on the rental bike after using old clunky bikes to train
What?!?
You gotta try harder on race day 😂
Sadly I hate running and swimming but I want to do a triathlon.
Why do you want to do it then

Crossing the finish line: priceless.
I love how you showed you can take on new sports and buy the necessary gear without buying the very best of everything.

Oh my God that's amazing that you did that. Good on you! ❤
Way to go! 🎉
I would advise spending a little bit more on the helmet (for safety reasons)
Yeah, I've never heard of a $22 helmet, probably not certified.
@@goldenretriever6261 if you wear a helmet this cheap you could just strap a plastic box to your head.
All the best
Spend more on your helmet
glorious!!
it never actually computed in my brain that you have to pay to actually do the triathlon i thought it was free where im from (london)
If only. Some of the UK triathlons are so expensive. Blenheim Palace, which is seen as a bit of an entry-level event, is £100.
Windsor is similar.

A swim cap should not be $16 you can buy them for like $1-2
I like that she spent $16 on a swim hat and only $22 on a feckin helmet

How did you train before competeing? Or was it more of a let's see how it goes thing.

That is cheyon comparison to my first triathlon.
Wow and I thought cycling was expensive
Considering that you won’t pay for new equipment for every triathlon it’s actually pretty cheap
How did you find a helmet for $22!?
@@Ziplin87 Amazon!
That’s wild. Congrats on your first Tri!
Hope you can get another great deal on a bike that fits!
$518.86 total, including 2nd hand stuff
And the running gear is not even included plus if you have to get a pass to swim at a gym or a pool ...
So, you had no cycling shoes and apparently you also ran barefooted?
@@MG-1987 no, like I said I had running shoes. Flat pedals do exist
The new bike is better because it fit you not because its new.

Only 500 almost easier to not do a triathlon 😅
But now it’s less you have everything

The economy isn’t hurting if y’all paying $500 to run, bike, & swim
