Oh I do miss my old HD Iron. It was my first Harley and I went from Hampshire to Darlington in the North East to get the one I wanted. It sounded like a sewing machine when I rode it all that way home so I quickly added Vance & Hines exhaust and Fuelpak as well as an Arlen Ness “Big Sucker” air filter. Much better and sounded not unlike this one. I loved the look of the Iron and actually added a set of Biltwell bars after watching one of your videos sir! I think they were called Frisco and they were like a mini ape hanger. Love your videos. Thank you so much for making them. I have lost count of the number of times I have followed your advice and upgraded or simply maintained one of my bikes. Thank you once again and safe riding brother. :)

Hi buddy, glad you enjoyed the video, there is a dedicated stand alone video on clutch adjustment in our playlist, it is rather old, I made it many years ago, but it's very specific and very close up and detailed, so I hope it'll help you... regarding your engine oil, the dipstick is designed to check on the sidestand if it is the specific bike in this video, but to be double sure, check in your handbook as there will be instructions in there how to check your oil... and as I'm sure you know, it's always checked hot. Here's a link to our clutch adjustment video: th-cam.com/video/invnrw3nj3U/w-d-xo.html

Hello from upstate NY! What's that flat red stand you placed under the Iron to raise the rear wheel a bit? Any interference with parts of the bike? Another great vid as usual! Thanks for posting!
Hi there, thanks for the kind wrods, this is the link for the scissor stand, and it clears just fine, can lift the front or the back of the frame, and if you put the stand down, and tuck it up behind the pivot then it will left the whole bike, no problems: www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637191833/scissor-stand-for-motorcycles-450kg
Thanks mate - another excellent video. If you ever update this service vid again (because I'll keep watching 'em) could you do it on a classic pre-2003 bike with twin plugs? I know they're similar but it would be nice for you catalogue of vids and would be MEGA useful to me. :)
The rear wheel being out of alignment even a few millimeters can show up at high speeds as a wobble. Mine being out just a little felt like a tank slapper coming on when hitting 105 mph+. Perfect time for one, right?
Thank you buddy my quick release arbor came quick smart today ..so simple but so smart ! Even came with a discount off next purchase 👍🏻☮❤ ha ! just read that back , quick release quick smart simple smart 😁
My iron's been off road for nearly a year now. How often should I change the oil do you reckon? I'm trying to pick up a lot from your vids saves me paying a fortune at the garage. Cheers for all the help!
Depends on what mileage you're doing and if you do short trips... but if you're not sure, and you want your bike to stay buff, then it doesn't hurt to change it every year, if you can afford it.
Hi mate need your help please, I have just bought myself a Motobatt battery [AC2732], do I need a new charger for it as its an absorded glass mat battery
Is idling warmup ok or does one need to ride around the block to get the engine up to a decent temp. How long should one idle it for? And I gather it’s ok to use the same oil in the primary if one is not using ATF.
Ideally a ride of about 7 miles will get the oil right up to temp, and also the transmission too... but as i was not insured to ride this bike on the road, to idle it for 20 minutes is the next best thing.
Why do you have to warm it up before you drain all the fluids? Surely, when it was last used 18 months ago (or however long it was since it was last run) it was warm and the oil has been draining down into the sump for all that time. All you’ve done is put all that oil back around the engine. I’m genuinely interested in why that is done.
All the impurities and crap have been draining for 18 months (in this case) so if you wanted to be really thorough, would it be better to warm the sump another way. Hot air gun maybe?
For the oil, the same weight is used for the engine and the transmission? Amsoil offers different oils, is it wise to use the same in both places or buy amsoil gear or primary? Anyone know what’s best for the Harley Davidson iron 883?
Harley transmission oil is for big twins... because they actually have a separate transmission oil, but with your Sportster, you have just engine oil and primary and the engine oil feeds the gearbox, so you can either run the single engine oil in both holes, or engine oil in the tank and use their primary fluid in the left side, both are good.
Cheers buddy, snow here overnight! But as usual for Blighty, it's just a sprinkling on the windscreens (but still probably enough to close the schools and call out the Army to be safe ;-0 !
@@Moonfleet41 amsoilcontent.com/ams/lit/warranty/amsoil-warranty-lubricants.pdf Any type of failure. Amsoil used with any other product that has not been authorized by AMSOIL. My AMSOIL dealer told me the same thing, their warranty is null and void if you dont use "their" filter.
