- In 1964, The Supremes visited Amsterdam, and performed on The Carr'e Theatre, where they sang: When The Lovelight Starts Shining Trought His Eyes and Baby Love from his album "Where Did Our Love Go" and also sang one of his early singles: Let Me Go the Right Way, from their first album: "Meet The Supremes" released in 1962.

This is my absolute favorite Diana/Mary/Florence performance clip. They sang live to the original backing tracks and absolutely nailed it! This was decades before "Autotune."
MT-BOY that is what was so magnificent about these 3'''' they blended so well together and the public loved it-- Their harmonized sound was healing to the ears and rhythm to the feet.. which ===COOL......
They weren't singing to the original backing tracks. The music was performed live as well as the vocals.

Wow. Flo's voice was so strong even doing back up and the mic being a good 13 or 14 inches away from her mouth. You still hear her so smoothly & strong. I wish she could've still been around. God Bless you Florence Always & Forever. You will always be Remembered!!!

Flo was always my favorite Supreme , Man did I have a crush on her.
Back when you actually needed talent to be a singer. They sounded great in this clip. No autotune, or any other type of technology to make them sound better. They also were sexy but still classy.

@@elijahcunn4961 First of all, dating does not necessarily mean sex. Case in point, when she dated Smokey they were kids and he was not signed to Motown.
Also, it’s a common misconception of people who don’t know what they’re talking about but like to talk smack about her to say that she slept with married men. Berry was a single man when he dated Diana. He got divorced in 1964 and didn’t remarry until 1990.
Eddie Kendricks pursued Diana Ross. Mary was the one who was sleeping with him as she herself stated, he was one of her many affairs, but I believe he was single at the time, so that’s her prerogative.
Even going by your narrative, at least Diana would have made her affairs count rather than just being promiscuous for the hell of it, which Mary seems to have been based on her autobio.
I love how both the lead and background vocalists are spotlighted at their own microphones whule sharing the same chorewography; it's very effective.

I will never forget The Supremes and I will not get into the negatives of what happened, but when I want to revisit the past ,I just put on their music and remember how good music used to be.

What were some of your fav memories of listening to the supremes? I was born 1986, but if I were born in 1946, I think I’d be cruising in a Cadillac convertible on a sunny day, with the supremes on full volume! 🌈
I was a child when the Supremes were hits, and recall the older teenagers saying Flo is so pretty and can sing. The Supremes were elegant, had great background vocals (that made their hits) and Dianna had those big fashionable eyes. Who doesn't sing their songs to this day. I love their beautiful fashion sense too.

I grew up listening to the Marvelettes, Vandellas and Mary Wells, and others.
With the availability of You Tube though, we're getting the historic performances that the younger generation may have never seen.
Many people are aware only of the time (or era) that they live in.

I love this video too. I saw the Supremes live when they were known as the "No Hit Supremes" traveling with the Dick Clark Show...and knew they were all stars even without a hit record!

@@Tes7000 It was the summer of 1964 ...just as Where Did Our Love Go was becoming a hit. Dick Clark's Summer Caravan of Stars tour included Gene Pitney, The Coasters, The Shirelles and The Crystals. During that tour, "Where Did Our Love Go" became so popular, people when crazy when the Supremes took the stage. The whole show was amazing! So many great stars!
I've met Mary Wilson a few times, and she is just great she has a personality that matches her beauty. I changed my picture on here to one with her...just temporarily. She's on Dancing with the Stars this season. :-)

This is their best live rendition of Baby Love. All three girls are equally heard and Florence sounds superb on her brief lead "I need you, I need you". All three women shine on "Let Me Go the Right Way". The harmonies are tight .
Yeah she killed those lines and you can hear all three voices equallly. To me that is the "Supremes" sound, hearing all three voices. I never liked the sound of Diana Ross' voice being turned up over theirs. The early 60s songs had the "sound" and then they got it back in the 70s.
I don't know about that. The TAMI show version is soooo epic. They sounded great and the choreography was awesome. But really there are no wrong answers. Loll
Yes, absolutely. It was really good. Their performances on Hullabaloo are among the best, as are their performance on The Sammy Davis Show. Sammy was especially fond of Florence; she reminded him of Pearl Bailey. So, the mics were turned up for all three women. "My World Is Empty Without You" never sounded better, and the medley they did with the Andrews Sisters was especially good as he had Florence in the middle and her voice really propelled the group. After Florence left the group, he seemed to really like Mary.
I love watching their early performances especially when their mics are at equal volume so you can hear them all. They sang so beautifully together. My all time favorite girl group forever and always. Just wish it was in color.

Most people didn't get a color television until 1964 or 1965; during The Supremes heyday!

Just accept that it was of another era, and you look at in in an historic context. It is not to compared with or made to fit today's artists or their performances.
On December 27, 1964, The Supremes made their debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. Ross and Wilson were 20, Ballard was 21. I was 10, and it was my sister's b'day, she was 13!
Ross turned 78 years old three days ago....
All the television concerts and performances were GREAT in black and white. We didn't miss anything. It was the technology of the time. It cannot be adjusted to be "acceptable" for today.

Wow!!!! Absolute beauty!!!! The three most beautiful beings I have ever seen singing on a stage. Hair, make up was just out of this world. As a young child I would stair at their album covers and admire how gorgeous they were. One of my favorite groups of all time.

Mary Wilson was always the prettiest supremes, and very classy to me.
Why do folk think that being pretty somehow mattered when they compare the appearance of the girls. Pretty obviously was not enough. Diana was and is very beautiful woman but not based exclusively on her features. She has something extra that makes her beautiful in an exotic way. Ringo Starr said he was in the green room with Diana and she was the most exotic creature he'd ever seen. Mary did not have that she was just pretty in a classic way...just pretty

Great performance. I just love this video. All three look great and they sound, well SUPREME. Flo and Mary got the harmony part tight as heck and they sound so good. Diana is relaxed and letting her voice flow beautifully.

I remember the The Supremes when I a child. I remember watching them on tv and thinking how beautiful they were.
For me and kids like it was a joy to nice looking women of color. We were called Negroes back then.
I was a kid and I didn't care zip just love The Supremes. However,when they did the The TCB special that came on tv with the Temptations it was great.
I will say when I saw Mary Wilson in that green gown and her looking like I Dream of Jeannie. I was hooked on her. She looked like a black Barbie doll. Generally I like all of ladies of The Supremes.
They certainly were beautiful looking! I was born in 1986, and I heard many of their songs, but I never actually saw them visually (until recently seeing videos like this one on TH-cam) Actually, I’ve become mesmerised by them! I think I’ve fallen for Diana lol 😍😂 it’s very interesting to hear from people like yourself, who were around at that time, when people were referred to as ‘negroes’. Crazy. I would say the supremes are some of the most beautiful women ever. And yes, Mary does look like a black barbie doll! Amazing. Thanks for sharing your post.

If you will notice the performances of most vocal groups, past and present, the lead singer is often positioned a little away from the other group members. Diana was "not always" placed far from them (I'll admit this is far in this particular performance, however). I've seen most of their performances on TH-cam, and I can't think of many where Diana is "far" away. I guess it depends on one's definition of "far."

The christmas album is great. I liked "Born Of Mary" it has a feeling if you are watching a movie dipicting the birth of Christ. The "Children Christmas Song", is a great song too. I started singing it when I was little at my school christmas party. I became our theme song every christmas. "My Little Christmas Tree" is a very sentimental to me.
In my opinion, Mary was the most beautiful and Flo the most talented. The fact that Diana had the best career leaves me speechless
