I've always enjoyed working on SFs...except for that gas manifold fitting! Tips; Use a low E bronze wound guitar string to run through the manifold tube while the orifice is out to dislodge any large rust chunks that may be hiding in there. About 1 out of 5 of those older, mostly all metal SFs have rust chunks that I see here in WA. Thanks for the video.
Just did exactly as you did on our 23 year old Suburban furnace, at Campground. Thank you for posting such valuable info, sir. Will look you up for our next problem!!
I just checked my heater before we go out again. And this is the third time I have had to replace these new Lever Nut wire connectors. I found the thermostat wire had come out of the lever nut connector. The first one almost burned the camper up. If you'll send me a link, I'll send you pictures and video.
Thank you for the straightforward video. Unfortunately, i dont have exterior access to my furnace. Mine has to be pulled out from under my oven inside the trailer.
Thank you Sir. I have watched so many videos on furnace repair but yours addressed exactly what is happening in mine. I have already replace my Sail switch and my Temp limit switch but it still won't ignite. Fan comes on and I hear the Gas valve click open and then hear the rapid clicking of the igniter and even smell a little gas whif . After 3 tries it shuts off. So I was thinking it had to do with the igniter or the Gas orifice is clogged. We just bought the 2003 Gulf Stream BT Cruiser and the furnaced worked for a day before it stopped. I will be pulling it all the way out on my next day off and see whats in there. I'll let you know what I find.
Our would shut off in 30 seconds or so. Replaced sail switch and limiter. Stays on longer but still shuts off before reaching set temperature. Go to turn back on and now burner won’t light. Only thing left is circuit board…?
It’s Bug Poo 🤣🤣. I had ne I was getting. Ready to buy a it had A old bird nest oops we had little bit of a fir when I got back to check it, time I run around to urn it off it burnt all the nest up, scrape out and vacuum some ass turn it back on oo whoo it was good to go. 😵💫😵💫😁😁
hi. I have a suburban sf30 furnace and I have changed the sail switch. when I turn on the unit the fan does run bout 10 sec and shuts off and I don't hear the ignite clicking or even trying to. I'm not sure what to do next except get a new camper.
As someone that is training and studying to be an RV tech, is there wholesale RV parts distributors? I would think you would have places to buy parts without paying full price. I know many parts are available on different web sites like Amazon, but it seems those are full retail prices. Thanks for any guidance .
NTP, Keller, Meyers for general stuff. Dometic for Dometic stuff. Lippert for Lippert stuff. There are probably dozens. Do a Google search and you should find plenty.
I got the same problem, my furnace turns on and and I can hear it clicking/striking but still blows cold air and shuts off after 30-40secs. Do you think i have the same problem?
Hey Kenny question, if my oven, hot water heater and refrigerator is working fine on LP but my heater is not and I have a full LP tank but the red and green indicator shows red/replace is my regulator gone bad? I did not have “yet” a gage to read LP psi do you have one to recommend thanks
What it does is fire up you can here it but it’s a rumbling sound then cuts off in a few seconds and it will do it 3 times then shut off. So what I did is brought it home on my test bench and it worked just fine, took it back to the trailer hooked it up and the regulator now showed green and it fired up but after a few minutes the regulator went to red/replace with a full tank. After a few test runs of two or three minutes it went back to my problem three attempts and off but everything else is working ok.
Yes I even had one filled yesterday, hooked it up turned it on and instantly went green but after about 10 minutes went to red. No sings of leaks. Another ????? After 22 years of RVing

THANK YOU!... after watching this video and tearing down my Suburban, I found bugs in the orifice! Now, my Newmar's furnace works great.
Awesome
Thanks Kenny. After watching you, I won’t hesitate to take my Suburban heater apart. You make it look easy. 👍😃
Well, I am a professional.....ha ha
Very informative and entertaining video. Now I can’t wait for spring so I can smell my furnace 😂
It is good to have things to look forward to.
I've always thought it smelled like unburnt sunk farts. LOL Another fine job done buy the Hillbilly RV Tech!
ha ha
Poetry in motion!
Haven't heard that one before.....thanks
Thank you! I was able to fix mine with your great video!

You are a cool guy!! You make me laugh!!

@@hillbillyrv Don’t change! You take the grief out of the repair with your humor. You are a great mechanic.

I wish they all had an exterior door.
@hillbillyrv On the bright side, i won't be paying someone else to do it!
Great video. I'll be looking for more. Always lots of repairs to do on our RV.
Thanks Mark.
Good intro into what is involved - first view
Glad you liked it.
Another great video. When I have to pull my furnace out someday, I hope it is as easy peasey as that one was.
That one was probably one of the easiest ever.
Love it I'm learning all about the furnace
Cool

@hillbillyrv So I found a birds nest and 2 big mud dobber nests. And the orifice was clogged. Heat works great now. Thank you.
@@rodden420 Dang it was full of critters.
Great video. Thanks!
I’ve replaced the circuit board, Sail switch, igniter and gas regulator. Still no spark??
Good job👏
Thanks
That was almost a knuckle buster Kenny you need a 20volt air compressor nice job again
It's ok if I don't suck in first....ha ha
@@hillbillyrv ya no kidding looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow

That’s probably where I would have started. Do yourself a favor and use a Dinosaur board. Fan 50 plus. You can find one in my Amazon store.
@@hillbillyrv much appreciated!!
Great video. Go fix some stuff!
That’s what I do.
Thanks!
Thank you for the donation.
Another Great episode, Where did you get that nut driver that has the torque built into it.. LOL
That's cool ain't it?
Hey love your video I learn a lot I have a 2009 5 wheel camper it helps alot

I have a lot of furnace videos. They might help you diagnose your furnace. I would test the high limit switch next.

Ps I took it home and check the burner area, hook up my utility test tank and the unit fired up no problem

Sea or metric
SAE or metric? I don’t understand.
@@hillbillyrv for the crowfoot wrench on the orifice metric
SAE...5/8 I think.@@sparkplug3128
I saw somewhere it said metric treads for the orifice would that not be a metric tool required?
Bugs are mud daubers they are attracted to the smell of propane. Wasps are too.
No mud daubers. Mud daubers look like a bee and build big nests out of what looks like dirt.
Dead mouse smell
Smells like money.
