I agree having a long distance relationship is really hard, but it will make you appreciate the experience so much more and you will treasure and hold that experience in your heart until the next time you each other again.
Some people come in to our life for no reason and we can make everything for that person but not everyone have the same heart some of them just for interest or convenience so be careful with the distance relationship not all people is the same but not everyone have the same intention
I personally think that long distance relationships are more healthier than the short distance. As I think that it teaches us to be more patient for future things ect.... Not only patience but trust that is so important so we do not become jelous and selfish .
My parents had a long distance relationship during there 20's but finally got to live together around their 30's and got married and had kids. To all the people who say long distance relationships could never work. You just have to trust the person, be loyal to each other and truly love one another.

Im in a LDR myself and yes its not easy, but as long as you have really solid communication and can video call on a regular basis not just text, because at least with video calls yous can at least see each other, its not easy but for me shes worth it

I live in Germany and my boyfriend lives in Korea.. We met each other in Japan, while we were on a language exchange and spend a whole month together there. We've basically been seeing each other 24/7 a whole month! Saying goodbye was really hard, especially since we're both students and don't have that much money. We had no idea when we would see each other again. Two weeks later, he kind of surprised me by visiting me in Germany! It was just for 5 days, but we really enjoyed our time. We thought it would be a bit easier to say goodbye again. Surprise: It wasn't. It's been more than 50 days till I have last seen him and it will take a bit less than 50 days till I can see him again (I will visit him this time over new year). But althought we are living so far away, we talk every single day! We spend our weekends together, watching videos, playing video games or just studying and talking once in a while. Sometimes we have a videocall and we're just doing our stuff we have to do. It doesn't matter. As long as we know, that there's someone one the other side of that call loving us and being ready to spend his/her whole weekend with you. That really helped us with this kind of situation. Actually, the thing that annoys me the most, is the time difference, especially now in winter, when it's even more... Anyway, I definetly agree that it is really really REALLY hard, but we just make sure to always have time for the other and remind the other of how much we love each other. So yeah, everyone in a long distance relationship: We can do it! I know it!

I’ve been in a LDR for 4 years now, the last time I saw my boyfriend was actually a few weeks ago but that was the first time we’ve seen each other in two years. I can definitely say it is hard, especially if you don’t have a job yet so no frequent visits. Really sucks but also worth it. As hard it is being in a LDR there is so many benefits to it such as communication, being able to just sit and talk to one another whether it be how your day is to deep conversations. Also seeing each other in person is so precious, I remember seeing my boyfriend again and being just filled with happiness and excitement. I cherished each moment we had together. Also LDR isn’t going to last forever. There will be a time when you two will decide to want to get married and honestly that is what I’m waiting for. So to all my fellow LDR out there hold on while you can!! Stick through it and next thing you know, you two will be together in person for good. :)

I did this for 7 years with my ex, we even used to meet in different cities. In the end we went our separate ways but it was one of the most beautiful experiences thus far in my life. I am married to my former long-distance girlfriend. It really depends. 2 hours can feel the same as 10 hours if you don't have a car or money for a plaine/train ticket. It's a lot about where ou live and what kind of circumstances exist.
i'm sorry but you are missing the point of what i was trying to say. Of course people witth a smaller distance usually can see eachother more often and it's way easier, but some people don't have the time or the money and each of this will result in the other. I'm working next to school to pay my rent and it's extremely hard to make free one weekend a month to visit my boyfriend. It's even more frustrating because you know that the distance isn't that big but it still wont work.

Here's my long distance story: My wife and I had a long distant relationship from 2005-2011 we didn't get married until June 2011 even then we were part until 2012 when I moved from Toronto, Canada to California....during the long distance I only got to see her physically 1 time a year every June for 3 weeks. But we did FaceTime every night at 9pm eastern standard time and 6pm her time for 3hours....we did not celebrate Valentine's Day together until 2011...Christmas only once....birthday only once.....even with all that we've been together for 11years this coming June. Long distance works al long as both parties dedicate time to speak with each other...trust...and commitment to each other.

Gosh Steven you just said everything that I never even put into words but feel all the time. Watching this was bittersweet cuz I know how hard it is but also how worth it (no pun intended) it really is. I think one of the hardest things is also being surrounded by people who dont understand, that tell you you cant really know the person, or that long distance relationships are doomed or arent "real" relationships, when really the two of you are stronger than most "normal" couples you know. We beat the distance a year ago, after 5 years of LDR, and we are been living together and next month we celebrate our 6th anniversary. Last year was a year full of changes, leaving my friends and family behind and going through immigration legal process... distance was horrible but I do believe it made our relationship hundred times better and is definitely worth it when you find the right person

I did that for a year when my husband and I were still just dating. I would fly to see him once a month for a few days, but for real seeing eachother in the airport was always the moment I knew it was always worth it! He is in the military and we are on our second deployment together and it's so hard but I feel like the long distance stuff made it so much more easier dealing with it.

I've had some people come up to me to ask advice on long-distance relationships because I was in it for almost 5 years, and I ask them "Do you love them? Have you actually said 'I love you' to them?" and suggest not doing long-distance. Because you can't do long-distance if you don't love them and if they don't know you love them. And when I tell them don't do it, I'm not trying to discourage the couple, more like test them. If they decide that their relationship isn't going to last the distance, they'll break up and that's that. But if they hear my advice and still feel like they love each other enough and still really want to work it out, it'll make them stubborn and hardworking to keep their relationship going, almost as if to prove me wrong. It's actually really nice to see couples who survive the long-distance coming to me and say "See, you were wrong!" :)

Im studying in Denmark while my gf is from Taiwan, we met here in Denmark while she came for exchange program, weve been almost 3 months apart and i can say that it was unbelievably painful to leave her the day to the bus station... But when you realise the deeper benefits of it, and if you see somewhere an opportunity to be together in the future, it changes you completely. I became more self confident, i realised that this is not a loss, but an opportunity for my future, focusing all i got on my studies and putting all effort into being with her one day. She will come the same time next summer. Advice, for those who already accepted this challange: feel how much you love a person, everyday know your goal and know what you need to do to achieve it. Work for it. Just the same as if you try to train for a competition, the result feels incredible and you feel happy. The same with your loved one, it will be the best sensation of your life, i know it!

Long distance is so hard. What some people don't talk about is how hard it can actually be. When I'm with my boyfriend in person I have what every relationship involves but I have it with the person I fly to the other side of the world for. There are times when my boyfriend see's it as waiting for something he should have and not have to work so hard for. But as soon as we're together it's all worth it. Two years later he's finally moving to me and even that's hard. No one should have to leave their friends and family to have a normal relationship and I hate that he has to make that sacrifice for this to work. But you only have one soul mate and we both know that if we gave up we'd never get over each other. It would always be one of those what if situations. After all the hard times and fights because of the distance making things so hard, our life together is finally in arms reach. Just four weeks until he lands and we're officially living together, in the same country, in the same timezone. 1600km apart at the moment but I wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the world.
This is so relatable. I’ve been in a LDR with my girlfriend since 2016 and we’ve only been able to see each other once a year since due to school and work etc. It sucks and it’s really hard but the payoff of waiting is so great. Time together really feels extra extra special. Goodbyes are always the worst though, especially when you don’t know when you’ll see each other next :(

Don't be in a long distance relationship please if you are underage (14-22) it will hurt you a lot and like 5% of those relationships last and trust me breaking up with your partner who you did a long distance relationship with is a lot harder than normal ones
+Lotte VR most likely because at that point in your life, you dont exactly have "your life together." mostly cause you're probably in school, dont have a stable job, or you probably have a full time job and are a full time student, and you dont have the time/ money to dedicate to the person, as well as the constant trips of flying over to see the person. Im sure this person means that after 22 you should be well off enough to dedicate the time and money and can handle the responsibility of being in a long distance relationship.

My hubby and I did long-distance while I loved in California for a year. He flew out twice to surprise me (2nd time he proposed) and I flew home to Chicago a hand full of times for the holidays and a family wedding. We couldn’t see each other enough. Grateful we were able to fly out so many times. But yeah, there were a lot of nights when I would cry myself to sleep and hug his t-shirt that had his cologne on it. You do what you gotta do.
Me and my girlfriend literally live a hour and a half apart but we both are 19, both have no cars and no family to take us to see eachother because they don't support our relationship ( because we are gay).... We've been together for almost 8 months now only seen eachother for about 7 days in those 8 months... oh im so sorry to hear that, i understand you, me and my gf are in the same situation as well, she lives 2.5 hours away from me in another city :( our parents dont support it either, we've been long distance for 2.5 yrs now and she just moved to uni even further so that's gonna be another 5 yrs :/ when we do see each other, its only for a day every two-three months since she's an engineering student and always super busy with studies and school, but we manage and make it work. I hope it works out for you, I know it can be tough but don't give up!!

I was saying uber and hotel because it's only a hour to get there in uber. and hotel because we need quality time, her parents won't let me stay the night ... my parents won't let her stay the night or even come in the house. lol believe me I thought o everything. you are not naive and it can work. I had a long distance relationship for years (because I'm Peruvian and he's from Argentina) and now we've been married for two years (L). I think the long distance actually made our relationship stronger because we knew exactly what we wanted.
It also depends on who would have the easiest time integrating. Like my LDBF is french but is fluent in English and has a college degree and has law enforcement background, whereas I don’t speak french, barely any TexMex, have no degree, and still live at home helping support my aging disabled mother and my mentally handicapped younger brother. It makes more sense for him to come to me than me leaving to go over there. He has more opportunity to succeed here in the US than I do in France.

Tomorrow, actually, I will be going to see my Girlfriend for the first time. I've been in a long distance relationship for over 4 years now, and it is true that it doesn't get easier, you just get stronger every time you part with your other half. It's hard in a way that every meeting is like falling in love but knowing you'll get your heart break when you part, so for me a part of me kinda tries to protect myself and not get so attached, but that harms the relaitonship as you're putting up a barrier to prevent yourself from the genuine feelings. But if these relationship work, it's true that they are very healthy and both people have developed strong communication skills and incredible commitment. Not gonna lie, there are LOTS of sacrifices involved when you try to plan time to do something together or talk on the phone when is convenient for the other person.
Being in a long distance relationship is so hard because of the many temptations that will come along the way but if you continue to love each other and takes every effort to end that distance I'm sure you will get a long lasting relationship in the future.

With every time seperating ypu are asking yourself if you can really do this. If you are strong enough. If all of this is worth it. But you wouldn't cry if you wouldn't love that person! So you stay strong. Even though it is getting harder each time. Have goals in your relationships! Plan longer stays, moving together, try to see the end in this. That gives you hope. For me it would be: 6 weeks = One year anniversary. 4 months = 2 months stay with him. 9 months = hopefully moving together. Try to think of all the awesome things you can do when you fought this distance! Of course it will be hard and it definitely is scary to leave your life and build it up brand new. But your old life doesn't go away. It is worth a try and if you fail, you can go back. And you habe the perfect base for being the most awesome friends. Thank you for doing this video! It means a lot to know that you are not alone with those feelings, problems, fears. It gave me the power to stand through the next weeks!

I live in Germany and my boyfriend lives in Korea.. We met each other in Japan, while we were on a language exchange and spend a whole month together there. We've basically been seeing each other 24/7 a whole month! Saying goodbye was really hard, especially since we're both students and don't have that much money. We had no idea when we would see each other again. Two weeks later, he kind of surprised me by visiting me in Germany! It was just for 5 days, but we really enjoyed our time. We thought it would be a bit easier to say goodbye again. Surprise: It wasn't. It's been more than 50 days till I have last seen him and it will take a bit less than 50 days till I can see him again (I will visit him this time over new year). But althought we are living so far away, we talk every single day! We spend our weekends together, watching videos, playing video games or just studying and talking once in a while. Sometimes we have a videocall and we're just doing our stuff we have to do. It doesn't matter. As long as we know, that there's someone one the other side of that call loving us and being ready to spend his/her whole weekend with you. That really helped us with this kind of situation. Actually, the thing that annoys me the most, is the time difference, especially now in winter, when it's even more...
Anyway, I definetly agree that it is really really REALLY hard, but we just make sure to always have time for the other and remind the other of how much we love each other. So yeah, everyone in a long distance relationship: We can do it! I know it!

I’ve been in a LDR for 4 years now, the last time I saw my boyfriend was actually a few weeks ago but that was the first time we’ve seen each other in two years. I can definitely say it is hard, especially if you don’t have a job yet so no frequent visits. Really sucks but also worth it. As hard it is being in a LDR there is so many benefits to it such as communication, being able to just sit and talk to one another whether it be how your day is to deep conversations. Also seeing each other in person is so precious, I remember seeing my boyfriend again and being just filled with happiness and excitement. I cherished each moment we had together. Also LDR isn’t going to last forever. There will be a time when you two will decide to want to get married and honestly that is what I’m waiting for. We would go up to 5 months without seeing each other, for four years and three months - which includes nine months waiting after we got married (for her to finish college). She is my best friend, whom I can share anything with and it was all worth it. Of course, it was hard - really hard at times - but, honestly, we knew we would make it from the beginning and God definitely strengthened us and helped us through it. The key is not to forget what it took!

It really depends. 2 hours can feel the same as 10 hours if you don't have a car or money for a plaine/train ticket. It's a lot about where ou live and what kind of circumstances exist.
i'm sorry but you are missing the point of what i was trying to say. Of course people witth a smaller distance usually can see eachother more often and it's way easier, but some people don't have the time or the money and each of this will result in the other. I'm working next to school to pay my rent and it's extremely hard to make free one weekend a month to visit my boyfriend. Here's my long distance story: My wife and I had a long distant relationship from 2005-2011 we didn't get married until June 2011 even then we were part until 2012 when I moved from Toronto, Canada to California....during the long distance I only got to see her physically 1 time a year every June for 3 weeks. But we did FaceTime every night at 9pm eastern standard time and 6pm her time for 3hours....we did not celebrate Valentine's Day together until 2011...Christmas only once....birthday only once.....even with all that we've been together for 11years this coming June. Long distance works al long as both parties dedicate time to speak with each other...trust...and commitment to each other.

Gosh Steven you just said everything that I never even put into words but feel all the time. Watching this was bittersweet cuz I know how hard it is but also how worth it (no pun intended) it really is. I think one of the hardest things is also being surrounded by people who dont understand, that tell you you cant really know the person, or that long distance relationships are doomed or arent "real" relationships, when really the two of you are stronger than most "normal" couples you know. I did that for a year when my husband and I were still just dating. I would fly to see him once a month for a few days, but for real seeing eachother in the airport was always the moment I knew it was always worth it! He is in the military and we are on our second deployment together and it's so hard but I feel like the long distance stuff made it so much more easier dealing with it.
So accurate! My boyfriend lives in Paris and here i am in Quebec. It's extremely hard but let's say that you can feel the love deeper. I guess its because of the fact that you give more importance to the little moments together.
I've had some people come up to me to ask advice on long-distance relationships because I was in it for almost 5 years, and I ask them "Do you love them? Have you actually said 'I love you' to them?" and suggest not doing long-distance. Because you can't do long-distance if you don't love them and if they don't know you love them. And when I tell them don't do it, I'm not trying to discourage the couple, more like test them. If they decide that their relationship isn't going to last the distance, they'll break up and that's that. But if they hear my advice and still feel like they love each other enough and still really want to work it out, it'll make them stubborn and hardworking to keep their relationship going, almost as if to prove me wrong. It's actually really nice to see couples who survive the long-distance coming to me and say "See, you were wrong!" :)

Im studying in Denmark while my gf is from Taiwan, we met here in Denmark while she came for exchange program, weve been almost 3 months apart and i can say that it was unbelievably painful to leave her the day to the bus station... But when you realise the deeper benefits of it, and if you see somewhere an opportunity to be together in the future, it changes you completely. I became more self confident, i realised that this is not a loss, but an opportunity for my future, focusing all i got on my studies and putting all effort into being with her one day. She will come the same time next summer. Advice, for those who already accepted this challange: feel how much you love a person, everyday know your goal and know what you need to do to achieve it. Work for it. Just the same as if you try to train for a competition, the result feels incredible and you feel happy. The same with your loved one, it will be the best sensation of your life, i know it!

I've never related to something more. Doing long distance through college SUCKS, but it is so worth it every time I see him again.
Long distance is so hard. What some people don't talk about is how hard it can actually be. When I'm with my boyfriend in person I have what every relationship involves but I have it with the person I fly to the other side of the world for. There are times when my boyfriend see's it as waiting for something he should have and not have to work so hard for. But as soon as we're together it's all worth it. Two years later he's finally moving to me and even that's hard. No one should have to leave their friends and family to have a normal relationship and I hate that he has to make that sacrifice for this to work. But you only have one soul mate and we both know that if we gave up we'd never get over each other. It would always be one of those what if situations. After all the hard times and fights because of the distance making things so hard, our life together is finally in arms reach. Just four weeks until he lands and we're officially living together, in the same country, in the same timezone. 1600km apart at the moment but I wouldn't trade him for anyone else in the world.

This is so relatable. Been in a military long distance relationship for 3 years & yeah it sucks lol but the wait is sooooo worth it when you love someone so much.
My hubby and I did long-distance while I loved in California for a year. He flew out twice to surprise me (2nd time he proposed) and I flew home to Chicago a hand full of times for the holidays and a family wedding. We couldn’t see each other enough. Grateful we were able to fly out so many times. But yeah, there were a lot of nights when I would cry myself to sleep and hug his t-shirt that had his cologne on it. You do what you gotta do.
Me and my girlfriend literally live a hour and a half apart but we both are 19, both have no cars and no family to take us to see eachother because they don't support our relationship ( because we are gay).... We've been together for almost 8 months now only seen eachother for about 7 days in those 8 months... If I set up a go fund me for me to take a uber and get a hotel for us to go see her how many of you guys would support me?

Whats wrong with public transport? my girlfriend lives an hour away and i visit her twice a week.. its only to see her a coupe hours but its ok?
oh im so sorry to hear that, i understand you, me and my gf are in the same situation as well, she lives 2.5 hours away from me in another city :( our parents dont support it either, we've been long distance for 2.5 yrs now and she just moved to uni even further so that's gonna be another 5 yrs :/ when we do see each other, its only for a day every two-three months since she's an engineering student and always super busy with studies and school, but we manage and make it work.

@christine wang I know I was gonna do that it's only 14.00 but it's like 5 hours and with school and everything as soon as I get there I'd have to leave back... I was saying uber and hotel because it's only a hour to get there in uber. and hotel because we need quality time, her parents won't let me stay the night ... my parents won't let her stay the night or even come in the house. lol believe me I thought o everything. But thanks for trying to help.

you are not naive and it can work. I had a long distance relationship for years (because I'm Peruvian and he's from Argentina) and now we've been married for two years (L). I think the long distance actually made our relationship stronger because we knew exactly what we wanted.
I wonder how you decide who moves where eventually when you move in with each other.
I would think it would be whoever is most stabled.
It also depends on who would have the easiest time integrating. Like my LDBF is french but is fluent in English and has a college degree and has law enforcement background, whereas I don’t speak french, barely any TexMex, have no degree, and still live at home helping support my aging disabled mother and my mentally handicapped younger brother. It makes more sense for him to come to me than me leaving to go over there. He has more opportunity to succeed here in the US than I do in France.
In my experience, long distance can work but it’s best when there’s a plan working towards when the relationship won’t be long distance anymore

I came across to this video because it was recommended. And I have to say that this gave me so much hope for my long distance relationship. Tomorrow, actually, I will be going to see my Girlfriend for the first time. We only like 19 hours (of drive) always from each other or maybe like 600-700 miles always and I have to say; to see that others are 1,000 miles away and up, really gives my relationship so much better. I’m planning on see my GF very often and we both plan to move in each other by next year. I’m so excited flr spending with my GF for 4 days. Me and her will enjoy every moment together. I love her so much 💕

My boyfriend and I both live in the U.S but a plane ride apart and neither of us feels it is safe to fly due to high risk family members and covid. We haven't seen each other almost 5 months and we have no idea when we'll get to see each other again. It sucks but we love each other enough to keep each other safe.

I've been in a long distance relationship for over 4 years now, and it is true that it doesn't get easier, you just get stronger every time you part with your other half. It's hard in a way that every meeting is like falling in love but knowing you'll get your heart break when you part, so for me a part of me kinda tries to protect myself and not get so attached, but that harms the relaitonship as you're putting up a barrier to prevent yourself from the genuine feelings. But if these relationship work, it's true that they are very healthy and both people have developed strong communication skills and incredible commitment. Not gonna lie, there are LOTS of sacrifices involved when you try to plan time to do something together or talk on the phone when is convenient for the other person.
one of my long distance gaps lasted 3 years, yes ...years. but we are still staying strong and it'll be worth it in the end.

Being in a long distance relationship is so hard because of the many temptations that will come along the way but if you continue to love each other and takes every effort to end that distance I'm sure you will get a long lasting relationship in the future.
My boyfriend just left for home. About four hours ago. Ive never been more miserable in my life. I want him back hime with me; back in my arms. Holding me, and me holding him. Ive never hurt so bad before. The drive home was so dangerous. I couldnt see. Now i just ache; and hate how long i have to wait to live with him again.
being in a long distance relationship right now, I know exactly what you're talking about. what sucks even more for me though is the fact that I can't take a plane to see my boyfriend because it's too expensive, it's getting too expensive to drive the 10 hours it would take to get there (20 for my mom because she'd have to drive there and back just to drop me off), plus, we have school which makes it so we can't see each other for months at a time =/ the last time I saw him was 4 or 5 months ago, in November.

With every time seperating ypu are asking yourself if you can really do this. If you are strong enough. If all of this is worth it. But you wouldn't cry if you wouldn't love that person! So you stay strong. Even though it is getting harder each time.
Have goals in your relationships! Plan longer stays, moving together, try to see the end in this. That gives you hope.
For me it would be: 6 weeks = One year anniversary. 4 months = 2 months stay with him. 9 months = hopefully moving together.
Try to think of all the awesome things you can do when you fought this distance! Of course it will be hard and it definitely is scary to leave your life and build it up brand new. But your old life doesn't go away. It is worth a try and if you fail, you can go back. And you habe the perfect base for being the most awesome friends.
