No, its way more difficult than it looks like on the video. It's very hard. You cry too often maybe everyday. You can't see your girl/boyfriend everyday, you can't see her/his smile, eyes. You can't hug or kiss.
It's emotionally very hard.
But if you really truly love her/him, he/she will wait you and long distance doesn't bother you.
Coming from someone who is in a LDR for the third time (third partner - yeah don't even ask how I always end up in this situations...) - no You shouldn't be crying every day. Yes it sucks but I think if you're long distance it isnimportant to keep living a somewhat similar lifestyle as if you were single - just with the advantage of having a partner to talk to. You should keep focussing on yourself a lot and chase after own goals and invest into friendships and hobbies / carrier. Like this you will be too budy living in the present to always overthink how it sucks that your partner lives somewhere else. But then again - it took me 2 ex partners to finally get the hang of it lol

Long Distance is hard, really hard sometimes. My Incredible gift from Jesus, Julie, lives 5 and a half hours away, and I don’t normally write on stuff like this but I felt like someone could use this. Love is REALLY hard to find, there are millions of people who would kill to have someone to talk to no matter how far. Long Distance is such a test of love and many people don’t see the benefit, he glass half full! If someone is willing to love you and be with you from hours away, that is it’s own kind of blessing! Feel free to ask any questions!

Distance doesn’t certify to you that is going to work. I’ve been in both relationships, in person and in distance. Long distance relationship worked, in person didn’t.
Wow 5 and a half hours away I wish I was 5 and a half hours away, least you two can see each other on weekends and vacations or least meet half way. Try being in different counties and serving in the military

I’m gonna share my story with you
Well, I met my boyfriend through the internet almost 4 years ago. He was an exchange student at my country (Brazil) but, I didn’t have the chance to meet him in person that time. He went back to his country (New Zealand) 3 month after we started talking (January 2017), and we never stopped talking since. In November 2018 he booked a flight to Brazil and he came to see me in person for the first time. The 3 weeks he was here were amazing but, he had to go back. On June 29th 2019 he asked me to be his gf (we were already exclusive but that made us official), 5 months after that he moved to Argentina to live with his best friend. In February 2020 he came back for 5 days and I miss him ever since. He’ll be back in May!

I dropped my BF off at the airport about two months ago. He waved goodbye at me before I pulled off. Once I had hit the highway I exploded into tears and cried so hard I had to pull to the shoulder. Literally felt like a miniature heartbreak. Then I got use to life without him again in two days. It makes me not even want to see him because we both know he have to leave soon and I’ll have to experience the separation sadness all over again.

Long distance can be really tough. My husband and I were long distance initially in our relationship; we met online. It was hard, to be sure. But we ended up making it and now we're married and living together and we're both happier than either of us ever imagined ^_^

My ex-boyfriend had to move to another country. In the beginning, we were both trying to find time to be able to talk to each other. After 2-3 months, we stopped talking through Skype. He could not find the time. But I loved him so much, I bared 5 months without seeing him or hearing his voice. He didn't have time to video call or voice call or call at all. We would text once or twice a day but sometimes it would take him days to send a message. And the messeges were horrible... No heart emojis, no "I love you", no "I miss you"... Nothing. It was like he was forced to talk to an old friend. And it used to hurt a lot... but I was trying not to blame him. I used to cry almost every day because I felt unloved and unwanted. When we broke up he told me that he loved me but it just didn't make sense to me. Now that I am looking back, I don't even understand how I managed to stay with him for so long. I never shouted at him, never spoke to him in a bad way because I didn't want him to feel bad. Long distance relationship is even worse when one person is not even trying to show that he appreciates you... When it is one-sided

3 years in a long distance relationship and still hanging on. We're a 16-hour plane ride apart and we haven't seen each other personally since he left to work in another country. We've endured so much, the hardest one was when he had a new girlfriend when we broke up before. There are times when you really want to give up and you'll say to yourself that you don't have to put up with this kind of relationship. But such difficulties, when handled well, will make you stronger and will make you appreciate and value your partner more. LDRs are really difficult, but they are possible and they can work. It really is important to have a goal for your relationship so you two have something to look forward to and to work together for. He's coming home in two months' time, and the anticipation is too much to handle. I just feel so overwhelmed about everything that happened and is about to happen, but one thing is for sure, it is worth it.
Me and my boyfriend have been in a long distance relationship for two years now, him being in Canada and me being much much further away in Australia. Due to our time differences, he offers to stay up for me everynight just so he could talk to me, even when hes in a law degree in University. Things have been hard lately with me and my boyfriend due to our long distance away from each other, and your comment has really inspired me to not give up just yet. Thank you :)

1. The number of miles apart doesn't matter. Miscommunication is the greatest distance a relationship could suffer.
2. Each day that we are apart means a day closer to the next time we will be together.
3. We are different when we are together.
This is how you know that it is true love: love is a decision and not just a feeling. When you commit yourself to continue to stick with the person and to love them in spite of the difficulties, because you know "us" is worth fighting for.
Waiting is difficult, but time will pass anyway. This is just a phase. There are better days ahead of us. Hugs :)

That's true. My ex was one of the people that couldn't do that. I was bitter for a long time but I've realized that when he broke it off he was just doing what was right for him, and there's nothing wrong with that. The 'don't let the distance define you' thing was more encouragement for people that are capable of doing long distance, but struggling with it. I'm not claiming that my relationship has been easy, anyone who says they are is lying or delusional. I'm one of the people that don't really NEED physical affection, but we still have to work every single day to make it work. P.S if you're going through something, I hope you feel better soon. I got engaged to my fiancee in Australia. She's from there and I'm from America. It's been a little over a year now since we met. I'm marrying her this year and moving to Australia to be with her and kids. It's hard leaving her and traveling back and forth from America to Australia.
Just hoping to get my Visa sorted out so I can move there, work there and not have to leave her anymore. It's hurts more and more all the time. Thank God for Skype, it may be glitchy at times but I still get to at least see her and talk in some form.

I hate when people say long distance relationships aren't realistic or are impossible. My boyfriend lives in South Korea and I live in the U.S. We were in a ldr for 2 years before we could finally be with each other. During the time we were apart, communication was always there. We skyped constantly, sent each other gifts, and talked to each other daily. LDR is all about effort and passion! Don't let anyone bring your relationship down.
I was In a relationship for 6 years . We thought we were going to get married together. Then she moved away to go to medical school..it was really hard..we talked on the phone everyday but with her school and my job we only talked at night time...we started to find less and less to say to each other...then it turned to just saying goodnight and I love you to each other..after only 7 months of long distance relationship we broke it off with each other..it's hard people..if you decide to do a LDR..don't expect it to be easy just because you love each other

But she used our joint account to accomodated her lifestyle. she owed money for flying ticket for studying to Europe. i trusted her when she said going to return back immediately afterward she got her scholarship money. she never did it. Yeah, long distance comes with a lot of happiness & sadness. My boyfriend Marcus and I are 4 hours apart by plane... We'll meet eventually but facetime and texting seem to be our forte at the moment.

I've been with my boyfriend.. (Fiancé since New Years Eve) 4 years this June, long distance since the start, and will be long distance for another too years at least. I don't know why long distance is always portrayed as so hard.. If it's the right person, it works, because you love them that much; and you know it'll all be worth it in the end.
+Chaniee oO it's hard because when you love someone that much you want them there with you all the time and it hurts to be so far away from them. It's especially hard if you started out seeing them everyday and then they move halfway through the relationship. My partner moved and it hurts so much knowing if he hadn't moved we'd probably still be together.

I knew a few people who had this kind of relationship. But now lived happily with their children. Dedication, perseverance, patience and real essence of love wins.
I'm currently in a long distance relationship and by that I mean a 12 hour time zone difference for the past two years. Yes, we do miss each other very much so but I've been pretty happy to see her every time. People just need to understand that having a personal life is good and also to give the other person your attention when needed. Also having arguments is okay! Every relationship is going to go through something like that. A relationship is not meant to drag a person down, it's to support the other in their endeavors. That's why I personally don't feel that this video describes what it truly means to be in a long distance. Don't idealize a "perfect" relationship, put effort into it, and spice it up from time to time.

My current bf has gone through reparative counseling so his parents think he's 'ex-gay'. He tried coming out to his more 'liberal' brother and it went terribly.
