- Our test rider Jason Fichera was able to get his hands on this really cool bike. The winning bike from the Baja 1000! Jason hopped on and spun a couple laps for us at the Kurt Caselli ride day at Fox Raceway this past weekend to give us his thoughts on this bike!

Dude, you’re crazy fast! I just came back from Pala last weekend. Every time I go out there I trip out on just how fast some of the top three guys riding the main are. I think to myself how the f-k is this even possible? But what blows my mind even more,, is the fact that everyone of these dudes I’m blown away about, won’t even make a main event in SX, let alone podium. That’s how crazy unbelievable the one percent of the one percent are.
I mean Jesus Christ..just how fast is a Jett Lawrence, Sexton, or a Tomac really? 🤯
Not a 450EXC. EXCs have PDS suspension, 6 speed trans out of the box. You also wouldn't be running a stock ECU... they are LeanAF.
This would be a XC (or SX) that's EXC-afied with lights and such. So you basically did ride an SX motor with slightly wider spread gears, a big tank and softer valving.

Little confused about the bike, as if it was an EXC-F it would have a PDS shock, sure this isn’t a XC-F or SX-F with a 6 speed?
It’s a XC-F with factory 6 speed transmission. It’s easy to get confused with the model denominations 💁♂️
Exactly. Which is also why the stock ECU can be run, because it's a properly fueled closed course bike.
Awesome build!!! What stator did you use to be able to pull enough watts for the dual lights and all the accessories? I don’t think the XC-F puts out nearly enough power, even with a higher wound stator.

any reason for the Acerbis tank vs the IMS? Does a standard dry brake bolt on the the Acerbis tank? Never seen a dry brake ready Acerbis tank before
yeah you can get that Acerbis tank ready for a dry brake. Not sure why they used it. Maybe a sponsor thing.

KTM's bikes in the XC-F line-up are fantastic. Actually, they're better than the SX-Fs for most weekend riders.
best 450 I ever had was 450 xcf.....practiced MX only and raced MX and GPs......much better bike than the SXF.....so cal vet intermediate

DUDE??? Are you really that ignorant as to how other types of bikes work & function out there in the RACING WORLD? Nope, every desert/off road race is just like an arrow, straight as can be, might even use a TOP FUEL DRAGSTER cuz turning just don't happen, pass me my chaw, will ya? Didn't think to explain WHY that extra gear might have made a difference?!?! Like not having to ""OVER-REV"" in certain places and thus having less ""PULL-LOAD"" on the rear suspension & that would keep the travel available because it wasn't being used up by the pulling of the chain on the rear wheel so the ride stayed softer & that was better for the riders comfort & was way less tiring in the long run.
Just tossing that out there so you can dwell on how to fill the gap that you opened with the 6 speed comment!
