The people camped out next to the track are insane!
They just slow the racers down.
One day someone or mechanical failure specters will end up going home in a box. Madness
Fuks set traps too.
@@DespaceManwe had that happen at the finke desert race in Australia now ya can’t get more than 20 metres to the track it’s a lot better for the competitors they don’t have to lift off anymore
@@DespaceMan The Baja races have fatalities every year. Last year most notable was a driver going over a cliff. The Baja races are the most dangerous races in North America, for both driver and spectators, there are wavers to be signed for those spectating in the regulated spots, and then you got those spectating along the routes in the unregulated areas. It is an insane set of races.
Dude one thing goes wrong and 20 spectators die. I’m all for a cool experience. But I would not want to have to worry about someone dying because an accident happened while I was at the wheel. Has to be frustrating at times as a driver trying to win a race.
They will get out of the way. They know what’s coming and how it can go wrong.
if they put themselves in harms way thats their problem
Reminds me of the ole group b rally days, sick fun. The spectators know what theyre getting themselves into
I feel that! Plus it would ruin a drivers race if they hit a spectator car instead of a bush and be out a truck
MEAT FENCE
Man, those speccies are insane. Nice drive. Frustrating to have pace over the car ahead but get slowed by their dust cloud though.
Yeah the blinding dust is insane
Thats desert racing at its finest
Group B vibes with the viewers right in your drifting vector ... stay safe y´all and hammer that gaspedal to the floor
Imagine how fun those steps were on a bike in the middle of the night. Great run Christopher. Keep these videos coming, please!
Literally insane!
@@ChristopherPolvoordeNot sure you'll see this, but where do you even get started in a sport like this? What is the lowest level?
@@kevinfitzpatrick5949so Rally in the USA is handled by regional organizations, I would look into your regions organization and check for road course stock/near-stock classes. But going to an event is best way to start, and see if any local drivers got some tips for how to get started.
It still baffles my mind that spectators still to this day give drivers no room for error, so if a mistake was to happen it will be a complete yardsale of bodyparts flying everywhere...
Personally I never feel sorry for people who willingly do dumb things like that, I feel sorry for the drivers who have to keep up with this shit because it just adds more pressure to the race, and not in a good way.
So to anyone wanting to spectate try to imagine yourself as a driver, and ask yourself what you would have wanted...
Maybe these spectator's (idiots) need to go watch footage from group B rally when spectator's got mowed down.
@@reffidex exactly right!? The stress on the drivers man.....
Welcome to Mexico
soft
@@gonzaloapestegui9421 Is how you felt when you realized someone else dared something. Then you did not want to claim responsibility of your chosen feeling, so you just throw it in the face of someone else.
Tough is the opposite of being a coward.
This concludes the lesson of today.
Totally awesome!!
My family had a home in Puertecitos starting in late 50's up until the late 70's. The 500 & 1,000 racers would pit stop in the tiny fishing village. I grew up watching the old schoolers; Ivan Stewart, The Mears brothers, Mickey Thompson, Al Baker (Privateer ~ Honda) and the countless others.
Night racing in the desert is something else!!
Last time I watched a Baja race, the locals were digging traps for the vehicles and the local cops on one paved section were pulling over racers and writing them speeding tickets.
Yeah, they have to be careful on the road sections cause of that, it was not the first time the cops have done that and won’t be the last. Atleast they didn’t have to worry about gunmen like another race in Baja did earlier in the year.
@@thejestor9378My buddy did the 500 and had his entire truck and trailer stolen from a "secure" parking lot. His computer was in the trailer too so they got all of his info up in Santa Monica. He got harrassment for months trying to get him to buy back his stuff. Dude had been racing down there since '72. A real shame.
The cops would have to chase me through the desert at 130mph+.
@@dirtybird437 I'll be riding Shotgun! That would be a dream. Already get a kick watching that. Not much like that going on here in Germany. But we got a few Formula 1 races and a few great bike races. But I really would love to run from the cops. Seen some awesome ones on here. Maybe bikes are more exciding = scary. We also dont have that here either. lol
This is like watching the old Group B rally racing.
Yeah, that's what it reminded me of too. Too fast and cool to be true for too long if the spectators keep crowding the route.
@@JebzbraYou would be amazed how long this has been going. This race is old and has multiple smaller variants.
This is Isle on Man TT mixed with off-road BEASTS. Oh lord those people standing on the sides🫨🫨😬😬🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣🚜🚜🦼🦼
Woah, what a privilege to have a job that’s a literal racing game! You definitely have the skills! Like others have mentioned definitely group B vibes with the spectators. Seems like a rare form of Motorsport where a very small amount of rain would be useful just to keep the dust down. Pretty wild how close to the edge of control you have to drive those vehicles to be competitive. Amazing job to you and your team!
14:12 that straightaway gave me goosebumps. Damn that must have felt badass W O T !
nice driving. I was part of a team there chasing 764x. Very cool to see some of the course. Thanks for sharing.
great footage, thanks for sharing
Good to see the video you were real quiet about which truck you would be driving
Just insanely cool, never gets old!
Holy hell, I'm having way too much fun pauzing the video every now and then at high speed sectors to single out some spectators and watch their reaction as you fly by.
it's looks like rally golden era videos 😮very cool man ! thanks for sharing !
You guys are nuts! Only dreamed of it and this view is insane
This is awesome!! Ultimate test of driver and machine.
Great driving skills
Amazing Chris.! Thanks for share.! 🙌🏽✨
Thank you for watching!
So smooth it’s amazing
Qué Chulada de Video... Great Work at the Pits...It takes a Master to Drive a TT @ D Baja 1300...👍🏼
Spent many , MANY years prerunning & pitting for teams in Baja Racing events & always had to pull half the seat outta my ass after a major speed run through crowded areas on the courses …. We learned the hard way a few times just how bad things can & do get doing this kind of close to spectators racing goes. Be safe everyone, & Thanks for this AWESOME video !!
You got to be out of your mind to be that close. The worst is the Dummies that post up on the outside of a corner!!
You see in the video dust or smoke is that from wind or manmade fires?
130 mph in the sand and dirt thats freaking mental!!
A lot of pit stops and brave spectators.😊
Lots of spectators looking for early retirement in the ground?
That was a sick video, great driving
Great footage!!!
Great control and preservation at the right parts! Looked amazing!!! I subbed to check out the rest of the vidz! Also, @18:18, that takes some cojones!
A long way from the Trophy Kart days. 😂 but I swear those modified Karts were harder to drive than my Prolite or Pro 2. Definitely helped build some skills for a lot of young drivers.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Muy chingón el vídeo muchas felicidades polvaderaaaa racing 👍🔥
Thankyou!
Do they add or subtract points for each spectator you hit?
Looks like fun, the crowd is insane
Years ago, I wrote to Sal Fish about creating a safety committee for Score, and he agreed that something should be done. We had some back and forth on the subject, but I could see that his attention was divided in a dozen ways, and ultimately, nothing happened. The potential for a mass casualty event in this race is enormous.
Once it happens, it will be international news. Getting insurance for ANY event will be difficult after that. It could ruin off road racing forever. Every year, I hope for the best. Every year, a spectator or two is injured or killed. It flies under the radar. Once a truck rolls through a crowd of spectators, the focus of the international media will expose every deficiency possible. The untamed race will be relegated to a short track, and Baja racing will be dead forever.
Man that truck sounds amazing
nice graphics, the games really keep getting better and better
that's insane
great drive
That dashboard is insane!
MEAT FENCE!
Great lol!
Ya agreed!! To up close and deadly!!
Those people are out of their mind standing on the side a mere feet from the track!
great run dude, keep it up.... stay hard, jaja
Hahahaha stay hard
In this "controlled" environment, CHAOS is still very fitting! 🤘
Beautiful desert.
CHINGON!!!
That was locoo
JOHN AND PONCH WOULD BE DAMN PROUD OF THIS POV!!
BAD ASS!!
Do you guys run on full pacenotes, or is it more like road book, would be cool to add the intercom audio.
They pre-run the course and make notes, which the navigator communicates during the race.
Reminds me of Group B rally racing, a couple cars took out enough spectators and basically that was the end of it.
Ustedes van a soñar con el rancho San Juan londó milla 330 😂 esta vez vimos guerreros verdaderos, eres un joven con mucho potencial continua de esa forma, observamos los 6 recorridos de preparación saludos desde san isidro bcs chico guapo
One of these days I'll get to go fora ride in a TT. In the meantime my Bronco Raptor will have to do 🤠
Amazing
I live at LA Bay at mile 736 of the race. Where I live there is a left turn about 30 degrees through a rutted and whooped-out, sandy section. The KTM put on a show and wheelied through that section going about 60 plus. In the turn. In the ruts and whoops. In the sand. Amazing skills.
Off topic, but how did the place hold up in the Hurricane? Only saw pictures of Villa Bahia, but it wasn't looking too good. Hope everyone down there is doing alright
@@Xnetteom A TON of water and mud. The town did fine. Most of the campos and homes along the beach had erosion. I only heard of one property actually getting damaged from an arroyo that undermined them. Sections of the highway and the new bridges got beat up, but most of it is back in service now. The Baja 1000 came through two weeks ago. That was fun.
Thank you for uploading this so us mere mortals can enjoy watching it. 🤙
I thought I was quick in my x3 😂sick cuz
La Paz to Ensenada. Reverse point to point South to North route. Pretty fresh to say the least.
Wild
Cant wait to be in a chase truck next year with my buddy for his team
OH my God YES!!!!!
Gotta love the dudes just casually walking in front of him going 95mph
Well done young man, that FORD is running awesome . Faster is smoother
How does he know where to go? Do they use gps or do they have a navigator/co-driver like rally?
Both. The driver obviously has to watch the road, so a navigator watches the gps and communicates notes they'd previously recorded while pre-running the course.
The graphics are insane. I wonder what they will look like in 10 more years
It was a great day!!!
Yeah it was!
Felicidades 👏
I can't imagine driving that thing. Field of view is damned near zero... and with the front lifting all the time? No way in hell.
I’m reminded of WRC in the 1980/90’s . ✌️
Yes, way too many meat pylons. 🍖 I would've liked to have seen some speed and rpm telemetry.
Hell yeah! My turn! lol
I’m getting flashbacks from group b, those spectators need step back so the driver doesn’t have to worry about killing somebody
What's the speed limit for the vehicles?
I had the same thought. Makes me think people sign a mental waiver being a spectator there. But I also had the thought even if it is the spectator’s fault if he gets hit, I’d feel awful if something bad happened.
brings back the old days of group B rally
Badass
impressive
The top mounted camera is way better! Thank you. The cockpit view was stressing me out!
Next year they’re actually going to set their tents up ON the track
Nothing new in fact quite tame
Welcome to Baja baby
I know ATV's arent near as fast. But i stood 10ft away from Walker Fowler, 7 time gncc champion, 4th gear drive straight at 2 people on the trail, he didnt flinch. If they didnt finally take 2 steps to the side he had 0 issues taking them out with him. Racers are racers, they dont want to hurt anybody or get anybody hurt, but woth open track race series, it is 100% on the spectator to get out of the way or ruin alot of peoples day
These spectators are freaking CRAZY AS HELL!! 😮
Hola amigos soy de Costa Rica excelente Piloto y copiloto y lo que suena ese vehículo salvaje me gusta
need to see a rear view cam as welll 😮
Is this out on PC???
2 parte?
How many feet per gallon do you get with this thing?
2-3 mpg
20:35 Wow what an image
Crazy how many people came out to watch. Some of those rows of people look like they are miles long.
Only sport where the spectators are just as nuts as the athletes
"Group B" is alive and kicking.
nice pit crew
All right last one
I’m pretty sure I saw one of those guys stash a shipment under the truck.
The definition of safety: Never
You just drove the shit outa that thing!!
The guy on the right side of the track at 2:05 is insane lol
Literally!
Like 80's rally
Dirt Rally 6.0 😂
More!
