    I have recently subscribed. I like that most ingredients are already in my pantry, that I don't have to fiddle around working out how to halve the recipe, and I don't feel guilty for eating the leftovers.... thanks from New Zealand

    hey i made this recipe about 2 times each time the pancakes came out under cooked in the middle just wondering if you know why the batter was really thick and I kept the temperature low.

      I thought I followed the recipe exactly but my batter was thick. And when I coooked them they seemed more like biscuits lol tasted good but definitely did not come out correct

    Thank you. Enjoyed this. They came out great this morning! Question: Can the combined batter be saved for the next day? If so, how would you recommend on how to store it until then. Question: Can the dry ingredients be stored separately and then later used after mixing the wet ingredients? How would you recommend storing?

    • @OneDishKitchen
      @OneDishKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad you enjoyed the pancakes. Yes, the batter can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You may find that you need to add a small amount of milk to thin the batter before using because the batter will thicken as it sits in the fridge. The dry ingredients can be mixed up ahead of time and stored in the pantry or on the counter. You might like to try our small batch pancake mix recipe: onedishkitchen.com/small-batch-pancake-mix/

    Should the melted better be at room temperature before adding it to the mix?

    • @OneDishKitchen
      @OneDishKitchen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I find that the butter is usually cool enough to add in after I've mixed the dry ingredients together.

      adding a hot liquid to a cold or room temp mixture especially flour can pre-cook your ingredients and start the gluten rise process to early which can lead to overdone or thick breads, cakes, or pancakes@@sissi9100

      @jesssamuel4669 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably overmixed the batter. If you mix to much, you will develop gluten in your batter.

      @@jesssamuel4669 possibly, thanks!

    • @Darkstreets56
      @Darkstreets56 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know this is an old post, but I'm agreeing with @jesssamuel4669 on this cause pancake batter is so borderline close to the bread making process it sits in the weird area between am I bread or am I cake. Stirring to much will develop glutton in your batter from the mixture of baking powder and the proteins in your flour, same as when you knead doe. If you ever want to make this exact use something that can measure in grams, that's why us bakers use a scale to get the exact measurements right a cup is 120g of flour @@emclovin6962

    I’d add maybe one more table spoon of milk, because it is very thick. Overall, it is great pancakes!

    Can I use self-rising flour

    • @OneDishKitchen
      @OneDishKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can but we have not tested this recipe with self-rising flour. Self-rising flour contains flour, baking powder, and salt. While it's hard to predict the exact ratios of flour to baking powder to salt, you will most likely still get great results. Just be sure to leave out adding any additional baking powder and salt until you've seen how it turns out with your particular brand of self rising flour. To get the best results, I recommend following the recipe using all-purpose flour.

  • @Grayald

    I like these downscaled recipes, but something went wrong with this one. My pancakes came out hard and dense like they were unleavened. And they definitely weren't. To confirm, I did the calculations and scaled down my usual pancake recipe. Same ingredients. They came out normal.
    Very confused, as looking at the ingredients in the procedure here, there's no reason they should have failed.
