  • We walk to Junkanoo Beach in Nassau, Bahamas.
    It wasn't very far, only 1 mile. We've heard that the Margaritaville Beach Resort,
    which is close, will let you use their bathrooms and showers.
    This was recorded in late September, 2021.

    Seeing the British Colonial Hilton floated a memory bubble. I was there with my parents in 1965. I think it was a Sheraton then. I checked their site and they offer an $85 day-use beach pass. I would love to be there again. Yes, there is a private beach, but not with free access.

    Thank you! My first time there is coming up and I've been really struggling with what to do. This looks like exactly the kind of day we'd typically like. Now, if I can just pin down Freeport. We've cruised many times, but somehow just never ended up with these ports, so I'm having a hard time. You'd think someone would come into Freeport and open something like Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel...they'd make a killing because there just don't seem to be many good options there.

"Walking to a Beach in Freeport" th-cam.com/video/VZI6pHRfvCQ/w-d-xo.html , where we walked over to a beach by the ship, and "Walking in Freeport, Bahamas" th-cam.com/video/nO6-DZMeMXs/w-d-xo.html The shuttle was $10 R/T. I think the best way to get to cabbage beach is the water taxi if I remember rightly you catch them along the harbour in front of the straw market they run about every 15 minutes and only a few dollars per person, it’s more of a Bahamian experience travelling across the harbour to paradise island and they give a small commentary on the area and it’s lovely scenery

    Did the walk to Junkanoo Beach not be shorter years back before all the. Instruction began? Or is just that we were younger? I’m positive the new huge hotel built on the way has made the route longer. We tried it after the work started and it was a really hot day, we turned around and headed back into the port area. Even back before the construction it took us a lot more than 20 minutes to get there. More like 45 minutes plus the 20+ minutes to get from the ship to the street.

    • @PortMonkeys
      @PortMonkeys  ปีที่แล้ว

      We did not see any jellyfish when we were there. We were in the water for quite a while. There are a little restaurants and snack shack’s lining the beach along the street. Also, Margaritaville is right next-door. We would assume they have restaurants. The last time we were on Cabbage Beach was about 20 years ago, but we didn’t see any jellyfish then either. But jellyfish do occasionally hang out on beaches.Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

      A few years ago we went to Atlantis and Cabbage Beach. It’s a nicer beach, but more crowded. Like you say, you need a taxi or the boat ride to get there. Someone commented on the video that there are bathrooms and that you can use the facilities at the Margaritaville Hotel. We don’t know if that’s true. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.
