    It has high miles, but it seems to run good so far.

    I have a 2003 short bed XL, White, 4.2. Love it!
    A very strong motor and runs and rides great.
    Only 92,000 original miles! Was my Dads truck.

    I've got a 98 and I've done all I can to keep it running within specs. There was a lot to be done on it since it had been sitting for 4 years before I got it. Had the intake gasket problem, but now no engine codes and with new shocks it rides like a taxi cab down the road.

      It is alot, but it runs very smooth, and the engine seems pretty sound. For some reason I always call the vinyl seats leather. Haha. Thanks for subscribing, and for the good feedback!

    You can tell many differences between the XL and XLT models of these trucks.
    XL:
    Does not have tachometer
    Comes with a AM/FM radio not cassette or CD
    Has manual windows, mirrors, locks
    No door pockets
    4.2 L. V6
    XLT:
    AM/FM and CD Cassette players
    Tachometer
    Power windows, mirrors, locks
    Has door pockets
    4.6 L. Trition V8 or optional 4.2 L. V6 and 5.4 L. Trition V8
    I guess you can say the XL is more of a base model.

      @Swimfinz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      SuperWhite TRD....what year? Mine is 2002 F150 XL trim. Here is my list:
      No tachometer
      AM/FM Cassette player. No CD
      Yes, manual windows, mirrors, locks.
      Yes, has door pockets, which are fantastic organizers for various Maps and kit.
      4.2L V6. Stop and go traffic, carrying a cross bed tool bed filled with tools: 13.5mpg.
      On the highway in 5th gear (OD), I get 18-21mpg. Very torquey engine.
      Make sure you never lose the key, else you'll be out a $300 locksmith charge, as happened to me. Ford's security is quite good.

    My 2001 F-150 4.2L V6 did not even make it to 100K miles. The engine had problems with the intake manifold causing it to misfire during heavy acceleration. It was a sad day when I had to trade it, but the repair was going to be more than what the truck was worth. It was such a gorgeous truck though. I miss it already :( Awesome video, I hope your truck gives you many more years of reliable service.

  • @Swimfinz
    @Swimfinz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! Nice vdo! My 2002 F150 work truck looks identical to yours, except mine is a 5sp stick.
    Make sure you get familiar with the "key" that allows you to lower the spare tyre should you ever get a flat! The key is generally kept inside your Ford book. Yeah, I bought mine with 8500 miles in 2003. Now I just passed 40k. I don't drive much, great truck, thank you Ford! I love the no-frills work truck concept, People holler with joy when they get to use roll-down windows! Your aircon unit will produce ice cubes for you in the summer.

    4.2 motors are really strong. I used to have a 2006 F150. Same motor but different generation. It was an XL. I got it at 192k miles. And it died at 202k. Well didn't really die. Transmission had a slip and wouldn't go in the 3rd or 4th gear without overdive on. Engine was unbeatable. I couldn't do anything to blow the engine up. I abused the truck and nothing would happen. The tranny would slip when going past 35 mph if overdrive stayed on. The very next week, my brother was driving it to school. Red light stop, transmission slipped to neutral forever and wouldn't do anything. Do I miss it? Yes because it was my first truck and it was efficient if I was slowly accelerating. A week after the tranny died, we got a 2000 F150 5.4 supercab Lariat. Runs fast and great.

      @Swimfinz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@obijuankenobi6565 ...the comment about getting 500 miles to a tankful is accurate. This truck has a SWEET 33.0 gal fuel capacity. I get 13-15mpg around down, stop and go. 18-21mpg while on open highway. You are not going to get 30mpg with this truck. Miles Per Dollar that is more important. We all love our F150 V6. I love my stick---I did replace the clutch at 29k miles. New clutch was $1k.

    tell you what man a truck that old if it had power windows and doors they would be broken by now, every car I ve ever owned with them were always burned out at 12 years of age of less and the switches always go bad and are over 60 bucks to replace, they are more trouble than the couple thousand extra at the dealer can justify roll downs hardly break if they do they can be fixed with fence wire a can of wd40 and duck tape.
