When i start the video i bet the E39 M5 going to be the first on the list. :) Not just the M5 but the whole E39 series it is the best bimmer was ever build i think.
My list would be 1. E39 M5, 2. E46 M3 CS Manual. 3. E46 M3 CSL. 4. Z3 M Coupe (S54B32) 5. E92 M3 GTS 6. E30 M3 7. E24 M635CSi Highline 8. E63 M6 9. Z4 M 10. M2 Coupe old one LCI Manual with chrome kidney grilles. or E28 M5. It just so hard to pick with an amazing back catalogue.
Having driven an e39 M5 (my dad owns one) and an e30 M3 (my brother owned one) I can see why the M5 is number One. While I adore the looks of the e30 as it was the first car I fell in love with they honestly feel a bit slow, the M5 is a hooligan to drive. I on the other hand own a e46 330i ZHP an I adore it too, yeah it's not very powerful either but honestly feels more so than the e30 M3 despite weighing more.
I own both an E39 M5 & E46 M3 and have driven many other M cars. Sadly not the E30, M1, 1M or the new M3 but I can tell you there is a level of involvement you get in the late 90's/early 00's BMWs that is unprecedented. They have come with a manual, though... although not the greatest shifts out there they still deliver. It's all about how you drive them :)
Had a e46, e39, f10, and an e63 all in manual. The e63 crushes all of the others. It’s the only one that’s truly special while the other feel like they’re just sporty but normal feeling daily drivers.
E60 M5 with a BMW warranty, custom Akrapovic exhaust and full carbon Eventuri intakes and plenum is the best and it's not even close...sounds better than my Huracan too 👀
My E34 M5 feels like it will one day get the respect it deserves, it's all of the classic vibe and sexiness of the E30 but with more power and a size and format that is actually usable as daily driver (which is how I use mine). Plus, unlike the E30 they can still be had for a reasonable amount, so go get one while you can.
I was about to blow up that the E30 wasn't number 1, but when I saw the number 1, I buried my objection. Drove that model M5 and yep, it deserves every accolade and legendary plaudit it receives. My top 3 would be to remove the 1M from the top four, and switch the E30 with the CS. Great video!

The S85 V10 is the absolute best engine BMW have ever made. Not the most powerful. Probably the least economical - I got 25L/100KM from mine. But the throttle response, coupled with the symphony of sound is just magical
South Africa had some SA only BMW models. 1980 7series saloon with a real M1 engine called the 745i and a 1987 BMW 333i being a 3 series with a 3.3 liter engine.
Agreed, I had an E28 M5, E34 M5 and E39, in between the M5's which I loved, an E36 M3. The E36 was ok, always wanted and E30 M3 and then shoehorn a S54 in there, but now the prices are stratospheric. The E60 M5 was a "mistake purchase" and left such a bad taste that it literally was the last BMW I ever bought....... Maybe a drive in one of the cars on this list might rekindle the "M" flame in me.
The best M without question is the individual’s preference. I have an M2C and love it but don’t know if it’s my favourite because I’m one like many yet to drive all of these magnificent Ms and compare. Maybe then they are all my favourite 😊

I remembre when Jason Cammisa made a video on the Toyota Supra and he said that that car (the M2 CS) was the closest thing to a modern Supra out there right now, and like the Supra, its a bit too expensive, its a bit at odds with itself, but its also a ridiculously incredible car to drive and blows the both the Z4 and the new Supra out of the water (and it does it with backseats!).
E12 M535i but that was from 1980, delivered with rear spoiler and the M logo in the boot, my mom got one new in 1982 😄 but the BMW's before the E28 are actually the real BMW Motorsport cars in it's purity but besides the E12 never labeld a M, but it became less Motorsport and more for the mass from the E28 M5

There have been 1.5M Corolla's sold in Australia. There are 15M registered cars on the road in Australia. If they are anywhere near as reliable and unbreakable as Stan's like you profess, they should be *everywhere* But, I can drive for days without seeing an old Corolla. I can't drive 5KM without seeing an old BMW. But but but, I did see one yesterday, and I got it on video! I'll go post it now and link you up...

The greatest M car is the M5 E60 sedan Manual in partnership with G-Power, It still has the highest top speed in a "factory" sedan ever made!
