Actually mentions ALL the safeguards/precautions we need today to combat the COVID plague, quite unintentionally amazing now. Karloff's character is initially worried about spreading a plague to his Army. And it takes place in 1915 !
This trailer is somewhat inaccurate with regard to Karloff's character in the film. His character is not the source of the story's horror. The film is an excellent gothic horror entry, containing elements of Poe's "The Masque of the Red Death" and "The Fall of the House of Usher".
What a waste of Boris Karloff! One of his most boring films. Soporific doesn't even begin to cover it. Like all Val Lewton films, it's slow, it's boring, nothing's happening. And here, I do mean nothing. Yet, it's not as bad as the monstrosity that is Bedlam! If only the actress had been more apt, he would have risen to the occasion. Poor Boris is doomed by a dreadful script and inert, boring actors who don't pull their weight. Boris had no choice but to phone it in. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz...
This was THE best of all the Val Lawton films

This comment didn't age well. I bet you wore a mask while driving alone in your car.
A trailer that suggests horror instead of giving it away?? 😱 Unheard of!! It will never work
This sounds like it should be a zombie movie lol
In a way, it kind of is...
