    Great Video. I took an oscillating tool and small drywall saw and cut the bottom of the flex portion of the OEM pipe from under the car. It came out much easier. Hope this help someone else.

    Great upload man, I had heard you don't need to remove the intercooler and pull it out through the bottom but every video tutorial instructs you to do it that way. This is much simpler, thanks again.

    Good diy man, just need better lighting and it would have been one of the best. I use a Milwaukee 2113-21 flash light. You can stick it anywhere on the hood and body as it's magnetized and lasts hours and hours. Thanks I learned a few things I hadn't seen in other videos.

    do you think replacing charge pipe will make it harder to pass smog? im debating whether to replace mine or not tbh
    also what kind of ramps are you using

    • @trackmonkey21
      @trackmonkey21  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think it would have any effect on emission. It’s just a replacement part that’s less prone to failure. I used the plastic ramps from Harbor freight. The space was just barely enough to reach the screws in the back. If you have access to jack stands, please do yourself a favor and use those instead.

      @@trackmonkey21 thanks I reach out to couple of shops to help me with install and they say they cant because its illegal to make this mod without the charge pipe being carb certified.
      Ill probably take a stab at doing it myself as I am not.
      big fan driving with the car like a time bomb.

      @@elmeleegy9904 Sorry about the late response, somehow i didn't get a notification for your comment. I did a bit more research on this, good news is there are people passing with it, the caveat is it may come down to the smog tech that you work with. The charge pipe will certainly not change your smog readings, but it could still fail the visual test. Not sure where you're located, but in CA anything that is remotely emission related without a EO# could fail you. Although it is intended for parts that actually change air circulation like cold air intake, manifold, BOV etc., it is still possible to come across a tech that considers the charge pipe part of the list. Getting something that looks subtle (not shiny) will certainly help. If anyone ever bugs me about this during smog i'll just take it elsewhere. That being said, do it at your own risk 😁

    After two plastic charge pipes failed on mines I went for an aftermarket alloy one, map sensor wiring has been damaged when charge pipe came off, headache.

      I felt like defusing a bomb when removing the sensor.. tried keep it as straight as possible when taking it out 😂

    I installed a charge pipe and I get a code now , p00bd probably a leak from the charge pipe?

    • @trackmonkey21
      @trackmonkey21  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I also got a code after a couple of days into the new pipe, so I re-checked all the connections and made sure nothing was loose or leaking. After a few days' driving it went away on its own and never came back. I suspect the aftermarket pipe has slightly changed the air intake behavior and it just took sometime for the ECU to re-baseline?

    Any tips on getting bottom of charge pipe to seat correctly on ic? Oiled it but still having difficulties.

    • @trackmonkey21
      @trackmonkey21  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm.. it should be fairly easy to seat it properly. Is it popping out when you take your hands off? Or is the C-clip not going in?

    • @implayinggames
      @implayinggames 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trackmonkey21 The bottom of the chargepipe is not going in at all. I took the c-clip completely off thinking it was getting in the way and I could just put it on after it was correctly seated, but still nothing. I got some WD-40 to hopefully lubricate it further, but not feeling optimistic.

      That is weird. Did you check to see if either end is deformed/out of round?

      I got mine from extreme powerhouse, make sure you select the correct drivetrain and transmission though. Here's the link: x-ph.com/ftp-bmw-f2x-f3x-n55-charge-pipe/

    How would u know it’s ur charge pipe

    • @trackmonkey21
      @trackmonkey21  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case it was quite obvious. The end connecting to throttle body cracked and came off. When I opened the hood it immediately caught my attention.

      I have a rough idle every time I start the car, charge pipe cracked at the same location
