    Notes:
    1. AWACS radar and EW radar are also both low band.
    2. SAS will increase the range at which radars can see you.

      From the side, wait until the last second and barrel roll over it. From the rear, go full burn and try to out run it, bleed its energy for as long as you can, then do a hard turn to the side or down at the last second. The timing for these is the hard part, not the maneuver.

    Nice, but would be useful to know the tactics of using jamming. Like, when do you use Noise compared to DRFM, and how will power settings affect it? I guess we'll have to wait a while till the community gets enough experience with it to cook up working tactics.

    • @snarf9455
      @snarf9455 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Noise is pretty much the default you want to use when you have allies nearby. If you want to mask yourself you use DRFM, you also always want to use DRFM to break STT locks coming at you, if someone locks onto you, immediately transmit DRFM at the source

    • @darkstar1592
      @darkstar1592  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      DRFM is used to break radar lock, while noise is used before you get locked to prevent the lock from happening in the first place. Important distinction because noise won’t usually break an active radar lock.

    • @capt5656
      @capt5656 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      DRFM is definitely more useful as essentially a self-defense jammer. DRFM does not prevent the use of your own radar and does not need to be micromanaged. On the other hand, it does not help any of your allies as it essentially only creates false contacts of your own aircraft.
      Noise on the other hand is great for supporting friendly assets as noise jamming essentially creates a corridor of noise that allies can hide in.
      So in a fully coordinated strike package, i would have the strike aircraft with 1, maybe 2, self defense jammers set to DRFM. Meanwhile i would have a fully jammer loaded EF24 behind the strike package running full power noise on all bands, with a 4th pod in reserve in case they need to use DRFM to break a lock themselves.

    • @Donut833
      @Donut833 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From my understanding adjusting the power will reduce the burn through range of your jamming. If you are too far radars will be able to lock you and fire on you. Increasing the power allows you to jam effectively from a further distance.

      Not sure if this is your problem, but munitions are put into two categories in the new jet. Air-to-air and air-to-ground. There are two buttons on the top right of your dashboard that say AA and AG. By default, it’s set to AA which allows you to access the air-to-air missiles. You have to press the AG button to access the air-to-ground missiles, which is how you’ll get to your anti radiation missiles. Then you can arm them and fire them like normal using the TSD.

      Quoting @thexlonewolf671 who left this comment on my other jamming video:
      To further explain jamming, there are three kinds of radar degredation: noise, or barrage jamming, DRFM, and signature augmentation.
      Noise jamming is fairly straightforward: it overloads the targetted emitter with false returns, causing the real target to be lost in the noise. It's very useful for jamming multiple radars at once if you can get them all on the same bearing. It can also hide any allies that are in the jamming corridor, delaying lock-on. However, you have to manually set the frequency band of the jammer and your radar is unavailable while jamming. It also gives away your bearing (though not your range) and you're susceptable to missiles fired in home-on-jam mode.
      Digital Radio Frequency Memory, or DRFM jamming, is more complex than simple noisemaking. It involves digitizing the received radar signal and modifying it to achieve a result. Typically, DRFM jamming does this by copying the radio frequency of the radar pinging you and sending it back to the receiver at a higher power. This creates a loud, but false track that the jammer then "walks" away from your aircraft to break a lock. The advantages of DRFM jamming are that it automatically matches the frequency of the emitting radar, and it can pull single-target tracks (hard locks) off you. The disadvantage of DRFM is that it can only affect one emitter at a time, allowing multiple enemy radars to cross-reference and get your actual location.
      Finally, there's Signature Augmentation. It operates on many of the same principles as DRFM jamming, but instead of walking the false track away from your ship, it modulates the signature so you instead appear as a different track. The primary use case for this is to have a MALD decoy appear as a larger aircraft, say, an F-26. The advantage here is that signature augmentation can't be tracked by missiles in home-on-jam mode and in PvP lobbies specifically, it can trick enemy players into making decisions based on bad info. The disadvantage is that it doesn't hide your actual position, and in many cases, the decoy radar pulse is a lot stronger than the actual return, which can actually give your position away.

    • @SJKJ_
      @SJKJ_ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@darkstar1592 So Noise is just make you and others be lost to the enemy by hiding in the fake returns? DRFM is making the lock be away from you? SAS makes you look like another aircraft? All of these are for what aircraft you tell sensors to jam? And finally, the deferent frequencies are for deferent craft and electronics? Making sure I get it.

    • @kebabit707

      @@SJKJ_ the different frequencies/bands affect different things, but not specifically different aircraft
      you can use LOW, MID and HIGH band on an F/A-26B the same you can on an F-45A, the only thing they change is what you are jamming
      LOW band disrupts GPS and comms, so the person you are jamming will hear static over their radio and GPS bombs won't work properly
      MID band disrupts radars that are currently searching
      HIGH band is for radars that are currently tracking you (like an AIM-120s built in radar when it goes pitbull)

      I agree, it’s not great but it’s there. There are 2 internal jamming modules that you don’t have to equip, so you can jam up to 2 targets. You can't use your radar at the same time (but TSD works) and you can only use noise mode on the mid/high bands and will automatically choose the right one to use depending on your target. You just click on a jam-able target on the TSD and press the jam button.

For counters, the F-45 will usually only vulnerable to low band jamming (comms and GPS), since you don’t really use the radar often in the F-45, so getting radar jammed shouldn’t have much of an impact.

    How do you turn on the Jammer?

    • @darkstar1592
      @darkstar1592  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You just have to equip the jammers before starting the mission. It’s the ALQ-245 and can go on slots 1, 2, 7, & 10.

    I was having trouble with how to use NOISE and DRFM, so this was very useful!
    I'm not sure I'm ready to use them yet...but thanks!
    I would like to know the description and role of symbols such as MW, EW, SL, etc. and how to deal with them.
    In the first mission of the official scenario, I dropped laser-guided bombs on EW and MW, but they fell in the wrong direction off target. I know it is probably MW interference but I want to be sure.
    By the way, the second mission was also too difficult... I can't escort them because the SAMs immediately fly into friendly aircraft and they are shot down...
    Sorry for the translation from Japanese...!🙏

      Laser guided munitions should not be jammable via the RADAR based wavelengths. That being said, if you're doing SEAD, AGM88/S and i think one other missile are anti-radiation missiles. I think they can essentially lock on to any radar emitting source (just don't expect them to keep up with any aircraft). They are your primary radar suppression weapon, and while ground targets will likely be destroyed if hit, naval targets might need something bigger to be sunk. Of course they can just turn off their radar but thats why AR missiles are SEAD and not DEAD.
      And those RWR symbols can be found in a few guides/manuals. The new update added new ones, some of which are pointed out in EF24 manual, though it is missing at least one. Essentially they are all shortform of different units that have radars/emitters. F or F+ are fighters and EW is early warning radars for example, while MW is apparently a missile warning truck.
      The EF24 manual has them listed on page 38 docs.google.com/document/d/1fM7stkRmIPnB8YuhbPtWZeSZbr9fox37vfHYbzSUmwQ/edit

      Oh! Thank you so much!!!
      In case you're wondering, I'm on the official discord server, but I've been having trouble finding out where to read this manual that people have often quoted!
      Thanks for sharing the link!

      Spams the target radar with noise so it can’t get a clear picture. There’s a more detailed explanation and demonstration in my other jamming video.

      For real. It would be so nice to be able to play away from my PC. Unfortunately the dev said it’ll never be standalone. Probably because the quest isn’t powerful to run it yet.

    you really skipped over all the other things switching the controls to EW mode changes
    hotas: trigger to toggle transmit, and weapon select to switch selected jammer (you only mentioned that last one)
    but also, it changes how the TSD selection works (directly assigning to jammer, no need to hit the TSD button on the jammer page)
