Been on Clansman to Colonsay a few times at £15 return. Scenery a bit more interesting on that sail.

Should be alright when travelling through the sound of Mull, it's just when u enter the open ocean I'll get quite rough.

Clansman is still my favourite. The first thing to do after boarding is get on deck to watch the departure. You get a good look at Oban from there and as you sail away there's a point where I feel like the land is leaving us, that's the point where I can relax. On weekdays there's the possibility of not hearing car alarms going off all the way to Coll. If you're lucky. After an hour and fifty minutes I go for a full Scottish breakfast and sit on the port side of Mariners and watch Tobermory glide past. It definitely gets a bit choppy when we get out of the Sound of Mull.
In bad weather you can watch various crew members scampering around with a mop and bucket as the smell of disenfectant and vomit hand heavy in the air. The problem with Coll is that it's difficault to bearth in a strong southwesterly wind but it's a grand place, I go there as often as I can.
The food is slightly more expensive than the mainland because of the expense of importing stock from the mainland. The hotel serves Jarl from Fyne Ales Brewery which is an excellent beer although the hotel owners can't hide their distain for dog owners and their pets when you call in to the public bar. Finally, my girlfriend leaves Coll orientated in the exact same way as she was when we arrived.
Fun fact about Coll: the very last cats eye on the road network was removed a couple of years ago. It was between the Tellers of Tales and RSPB centre at Totronald. I have a photot of it taken in 2022 but when I visited in November 2023 that area had been patched up.

Thanks for the comment. After travelling on MV Clansman for the first time back in July, I can say that she's definitely one of my favourite vessels. When I first travelled to Coll I unfortunately only had two hours on the island but hopefully this year I can spend longer on the Island by travelling there on a Wednesday because MV Clansman continues to Castlebay which of course would allow me to spend longer on Coll. Sorry for the late reply btw :)
