  • At over 5,500 miles between these boards, it’s become increasingly clear to me that the Exway Wave is still the most packed feature mini esk8 here in late April of 2023!

    I've had the belt drive Wave for about 3 years. I absolutely love it. Haven't had a single issue with it.

    Nice review man ty. The quick swappable battery seems so convenient

    I really wonder now between this and the Tynee mini pro. The Tynee has a massively larger battery at like 383wh. Plus hub or belt. Also different wheels, plus the off road kit option which is crazy, but you can run 150mm air tires. I mean, from a feature standpoint, the Tynee has everything, unless you want a small battery. The replaceable battery in the Exway looks neat. I dont know about ride or reliability, which are huge.

    I’ve ridden boards this shape all my life but as of late been on my first electric board it was a exway x1 max riot. I’m getting this on Friday and gonna have 4-5 batteries my backpack!

    Great review, very insightful, really helps out first time buyers like myself get some perspective.
    Was wondering, what are your thoughts on the Exway Ripple? Seems like a downgraded version of the boards you have, but its a lot lighter, and i'm wondering if it'll make for a better "first eskateboard" for me than the wave.

    What I wouldn’t do for a 220wh battery. Wow, they should bring that back.

    Hi! I want to buy the Exway Wave, but I've seen many posts on TH-cam and Reddit where users had issue with the brakes locking up at 15-20mph. One person had the battery replaced, but is still experiencing issues. Do you know why this is happening? Has this been resolved? The most recent post I've seen with this issue is from 4 months ago.

    I have wave riot and moving by pushing isnt problem with belts on. Not fully freespinning like skateboard, but works good in emergency situations. Im iniciating ride first with push, it saves battery a lot. And 85mm wheels are best option for carving without power.

    Are you familiar with Elwing skateboards? They also have removable batteries, but they take a couple minutes to swap (screwed in). French made. Beautiful boards (more of an oldskool look). Top notch customer service, all parts are replacable and in stock.

    I must say, having the wave HUB it's just hanging on the wall collecting dust.
    Don't get me wrong, I actually love the board per-se but the drivetrain is just unridable after barely 100km and a few months. The bearings are basically completely broken and make so much noise, you are not stealth, it's causing the wheels to get hot, you basically need ear protection. It's a shame, even with the IP rating, and me only driving in the rain when it broke over me when I was outside.. Even the tiniest bit of moisture will kill this board until it isn't usable anymore, and it didn't take long.
    Exway only offered me a discount on a new drivetrain, which stop would be about 200€ which is unacceptable for the price that I paid. And swapping out the bearings is not as straight forward, it you don't have the tools and a press and most importantly, sufficient bearings with the right size and water resistance.
    I'm really sad seeing it hang there, when thinking how fun it was to ride and how silent it was for a few months when I had it new 😕

    • @smwyler
      @smwyler 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% on the hubs, the exway (hobbywing) hub not reliable at all. Bearings are really hard to replace, one of the worst hub motors.
      Meepo v3-v4 hubs ate the best, really easy to change the bearings and they last so much longer.
      Riot wave is the best version to get.

    • @N0biKn0bi
      @N0biKn0bi 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@smwyler Unfortunately I have to stay with the HUB version, since here in Germany it's illegal to ride these things and I need them to be extra quiet and stealthy :/

    • @N0biKn0bi

      Well, I guess people who want a quiet ride experience + everybody who lives in a country where E-Boards are forbidden, which are probably most people.
