I was deciding between this and the miles Phantom shortboard and I opted for the phantom purely based on range. I have an exway flex and let me say this company is very reliable and they make quality boards. Thanks for the review man, I've been watching your videos a lot lately.
Have you made any videos on how to install the cloud wheels on the wave riot. The exway has no videos on how to change the tires and what to do with the belts. I will donate to your station.
You're in for tons of fun! I got my first board this monday, and I am LOVING it. Get a helmet tho, I got a little too confident and I took a fall at 35 km/h, luckily my protective gear was on, but it made me realise how stupid it is to ride without: GET A HELMET (atleast) and have fun! :)
lovely review! i recently got my exway wave and it slammed a perma smile on me! my clowd wheels shiould arrive on friday and again it is much better then christmas!
I've got the Wave riot. I've never felt the need to turn turbo on. I've got the trucks loose enough to be practical and fun on paths but tight enough for the top speed with turbo turned off. 38km an hour on a board this small is just too sketchy in my opinion. Great board. I love coming out of the office at night, only need to throw it down and then your away, can turn it on and lights on all by the remote...thats huge. Last thing I want to be doing late at night is standing there turning on 3 or 4 different buttons to get underway.
Bloody oath mate! Being able to just throw it down and get going is the best feeling. And I agree with you on the speed. You really don't need or want much more on a shortboard like this.
@@eSkateHub I love the wave battery/lights drive train setup. You think its possible to do a deck swap with the wave....I love doing deck swaps with boards. I've had a look at it or thought about it but it looks bit tricky compared to other E boards like the Stoke etc.
@@eSkateHub I got a Wave question. My Wave is at 70% but plugging it on charge it wont charge. The brick shows green light and a very similiar brick from a different short board also shows green light when putting the Wave on charge. Just thought I'd ask a few questions around youtube if there is a charging problem with the Waves. Sent Exway a message as well.
Thanks Dal! Overall, the Wave is a lot better in my opinion. The E-Shark is a good board, it has a comfortable ride due to its trucks but that also means it sits higher off the ground. The Wave has a longer deck which suits me better. I also find that the power on the Wave is more responsive and reliable, especially up hills.
Great review! Does the wave have cruise control and if so, what are your thoughts on it? I'm looking to get a shortboard that feels more like a skateboard not s long board, and being able to push it a bit and have the cruise control kicking would be an awesome feeling!
I can't speak to the build quality, but the stoke will carve significantly better. The double kingpin trunks are made for carving and tight turning, and are much more stabel at speed than loose single kingpin trucks. If you want the best carve, go the stoke.
Hello, thanks a lot for the awesome review. How would you say this compares to the Evolve Stoke? Would you recommand the Exway wave instead? Also, were you able to notice a big difference in sound from Hub to Bet? Finally, would you prefer the wave to the flex? what would be your go to if you want to have fun & carve? Thanks a lot !
Thanks man! I love the G-Form knee protectors, but in the future I'll probably go with something that is velcro adjustable because the elastic in the G-Form is starting to wear out and threads are coming loose. I haven't tried any other brand of knee pads yet, but I'm planning to buy a bunch of them and do a comparison video. My elbow guards are Fly Racing (I bought them from a motocross store). They're amazing. I'm not wearing wrist guards 😐 I haven't found a good pair that don't get in the way of the remote... Do you have any recommendations?
@@eSkateHub for wrist guards there is one option that works with the remote. The guard is on the outside of the hand. Flatland 3D glove. But it's pricey, hard to get and I don't know how many downfalls it can survive. For knee guards I am looking into mountainbike gear at this moment. Leatt, ixs and fox are interesting to me. I have not tried any yet but will get a pair soon. Leatt airflex looks nice as it's not soooo bulky which I like. Probably they can be even worn underneath other clothes.
Hi I'm really new to the E-board space and looking for something budget and good for short trips with my friend who has a bike. With this eway and the enSkate R3 what do you think? And is there anything else you would recommend over them? Thanks. I normally ride a simple off-brand pennyboard.
How has your experience been with Exway as a company? I've tried ordering boards from them twice, and both times my order has sat in "Awaiting Shipment" for weeks, with no response from Exway support despite multiple emails and chat requests. The boards seem great, but so far I've had nothing but bad experiences from Exway. But maybe it's just me?
Have one of these, and also an Evolve Stoke. I agree that the performance is good -- at first -- but, on balance, the Exway Wave sucks, and ends up costing you more money than the Evolve Stoke. Exway only has a 6 month warranty (compared to 12 month for Evolve). My Exway battery failed after 11 months and the new battery plus shipping cost $350, so basically half the price of a brand new Exway Wave board. The Evolve Stoke is slightly bigger and heavier, but is a far better-performing board, way more stable at high speed, breaks better, far better wheels and wheel-choice, and, on balance, is cheaper than the Exway when it starts falling apart and they gouge you for replacement parts. Unlike Evolve, you also can't change the wheels on the Exway to standard wheels (Orangutang for example). Instead, you have to buy more wheels from Exway, and more pulleys and belts for the new wheels ($200 approx). So they suck you in with a board that costs less then the Evolve Stoke, but then they gouge you once you've bought it. Evolve Stoke is the far better choice.
Fiik used to have a short board with huge off-road wheels but it looks like they don't make it anymore.. I think the problem people find with big wheels on a short board is that either the wheels sit under the deck causing the deck to be really high of the ground, or the trucks are really wide making the board a little less agile. Still, I think there's a place in the market for something like this.
Eh, I have an Ownboard M1, which is a similar design but cheaper and faster. I put 100mm boa wheels on it and get 50km/h (31mph) which brings it to the same price. Depends what you want I guess. I'd prefer to go faster than the LEDs & swappable battery.
for the wave, you'll need to purchase the 99wh battery pack. because you cannot have any battery in the checked baggage and for carry-on the watt-hour rating cannot exceed 160wh
but if you weigh over 100 kilo the motors burn out along with the speed control. its for people who weigh 30 kilo any more bet on losing your money when it burns out.
A battery that swaps out quick is the BEST e-board feature. I wish more companies did this! Great vid!
Totally agree! Thanks for watching!
I’m changing my mind about swappable batteries. Mainly because how heavy my long board is compared to how rarely I want to drive it that far.
I have a Taiwan brand e-skate with quick release battery since i travel overseas which is really the best feature ever
This is the most detail Wave review so far. Well done
Wow, thanks! I appreciate it. I'm glad you liked it. 😁
