Sony ZV-E1 is an interchangeable-lens vlog camera with a high-performance 35mm full-frame image sensor. It’s no more amazing than all the other Sony cameras that use the exact same sensor. Sonys really relying on film making influencers to push a camera that is no better than the last 4 12MP 4k120 sensor cameras they put out.
In fact since this one has less cooling it’s probably gonna be the worst performing one in terms of continuous shooting.
Meanwhile they’ve neglected support for the A7SIII a camera that is ~still~ $3500. The A1 that is ~still~ $6500. The FX6, FX3, have gotten some updates. Meanwhile the A7RV A7IV and now this camera all have “better” features despite them costing less. The worst part is they all use the same processor. So outside of the AI things, there’s no reason for this product segmentation other than corporate greed or sheer laziness.
This is a slap to A7SIII for some of the new features this has and for A7IV users when it comes to fullframe 4K 60fps. @sony you guys need to give us A7IV user an update on unlocking that 4K 60fps fullframe because like the A7SIII users, we paid more for our cameras.
I invested so much in this eco-system. Thousands in cameras and several GMaster lenses! Now I am trying to figure out the best way to liquidate and switch to Panasonic. The lumix anamorphic features alone have got me sold. There are some really decent budget friendly anamorphic Lenses on the market now, and my FX3 and A7SIII do not have any notable features to compliment the work flow. Not to mention the lack of basic cinema related features like Open Gate, Shutter Angle, False Color, Focus Breathing, and Anamorphic Desqueez. I really feel like I bet on the wrong Pony. Panasonic might be the wave of the future as far as bang for buck.

I just bought a a7IV two weeks ago and now I see this, it makes me feel like my camera is obsolete compared to a "vlog" camera. I feel like I just put down A LOT of dough for something that is already behind the curve. I am feeling unhappy to say the least. I love my a7IV but when it feels old after just 2 weeks that's not a good feeling.
@Tecnologia Brasil i feel you 100%. i got my A7IV at launch as a pre-order and do love it a lot and have already gotten used to the 4K 60fps Crop when i use it for my channel, i even built a full cinematography style rig out of it but i definitely feel like my camera is now obsolete. 😮💨
It truly is a shame the way Sony is treating us A1/A7SIII owners. Let be honest, all of Sony's recent cinema focused cameras have only been brought into the market because of the success of the A7SIII. And for the A1, its supposed to be the flag ship. All we are asking for is a firmware update to give us some better cinema focused features.

@@cinematicdlp Lol you go right ahead. I sold my Sony a7SIII after 2.5 years of waiting on them to release a firmware update to enable animal eye autofocus in video mode. You can select it but it never worked. If they care so little about supporting their cameras and the people who buy their products then I gladly take my business to a company like Panasonic who keeps releasing firmware updates for years to come.

If I was getting a video camera right now, this is what I would get. The Focus tracking is pretty cool. I think I would use the dynamic stabilization all the time for hand held moving videos. To make the most out of it, I think you would need a 20mm lens. Luckily Sony makes the excellent 20mm f1.8 G, which is still fairly small and does great in lower light

What makes this a "VLOGing" camera? Why can't it just be a modern take on the RX100 series? Many people just want a pocketable high quality travel photo and video camera which the RX100 was.

I live in Japan and you have artificially locked the language on the A7siii to Japanese ONLY. I can speak basic Japanese, and have learned to navigate menus on the camera by trial and error with the menu symbol and number values, but have missed many shots because I was too slow to read the menu in my second language. While I try my best to use Japanese in public, I’d still like to use English menus in my personal and work life while shooting videos on your otherwise wonderful cameras. From what I hear, the reasoning is to discourage grey market sales, but please prioritize your users over your pockets. Please find a non-discriminatory way to deter grey market sales (online camera activation only in region it was purchased? User ID verification?), or at least allow users to bring the camera into one of your physical stores and have it unlocked if they present a residents card or other ID so you can track how many unlocks any single person is doing 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I think the Sony A7C is the best full frame camera for the price - efficiency! The best camera for studio video shooting on a tripod is the ZV-E10. The best camera in general is the A7V - oops until it comes out))).
Bottom line: Get the lenses for the E-Mount and don't worry! Sony makes probably the best products on the market. Thanks Sony!

While it is an A7C upgrade tbh, to $2200 unless you are into serious vlogging or have money lying around, makes sense. It won't cater to hybrid content creators with just a 12MP sensor. At this price, just get Sony FX30 or A7IV. These cameras offer almost everything this camera does except Dynamic Stabilisation Mode & Vlogging specific colors with a higher megapixel count and EVF. With FX30, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 or Sony 10-18mm f/4 works perfectly. With A7IV, Sony 16-35mm f/4 or f/2.8 works perfectly.
A7IV doesn’t have 4K 120p, fx30 has much worse lowlight and has all the weakness a apsc camera has.

Disagree. That is like saying A7iv is better for video that the A7Siii. Yes the A7iv is a better all-rounder, but that is exactly what it is intended to be (a hybrid). I think the ZV-E1 is a big win! I know many people that wanted basically a smaller A7Siii. The A7Cii will be the new hybrid. Obviously if you are primarily a stills shooter getting the ZV-E1, A7Siii, FX30, or FX3 does not make sense, those are all design primarily for video.

if the silhouette pictures shows the back of the new camera; then it might be an A7c ... because the top panel is sunken at the side where the grip is. The ZV-E top panel is flat.

where is a7s3 cine ei firmware? we have four of them its 12k$ spent and no update. where is a7iv overheating problem sulution firmware? new cameras every 6 months without support previous soudns like a scam

As much as this is cool, I do feel that a camera like this shouldn’t be a vlogging camera, but rather a just typical video camera. Vlogging cameras should be small like RX100 or G7X sized. The ZV1 is great for that purpose. I just feel this is too big, and this is even from someone who has used a Canon 70D for vlogging. I’ve wanted to make the full switch to Sony, because I use a 6300 for my pro shoots I do, but I still vlog on a Canon G7X II, just haven’t been able to make that switch. If they make a ZV1 II, then I might be able to finally switch fully. This just isn’t it for me.

how about thinking that it's just another option to choose from? I mean most people would want a small vlogging camera, but some still want it bigger with better quality dont you think? This one could be the best of both worlds. It's truely a vlogging camera because all the added feature that helps in vlogging, like auto framing and auto close focus.
@@liuliukiu completely fair and I get that. I’m not gonna act like I haven’t tried to vlog on my 70D for better quality. Hell even I considered the ZVE10 for a bit to be my new camera for my films, and I may end up switching to it because I personally prefers Sony‘s image quality, but just stick with Canon because it’s cheaper. I honestly was just expressing my opinions, and I completely respect your opinions on this too.

a great vlog camera indeed..but are there great wide lenses to go with these that are not too big? i saw a 12mm lens and it was huge. the most compact and wide lens was a 24mm i think....but for vlog, especially with these AI cropping features that keep you in focus, i feel like you would need to go wider than 16mm, or at least 16mm, so that you have enough room to crop for stabilisation and auto framing. i guess the next focus for siny and other companies should be to come out with a compact, pancake like, full frame, 12mm or 14mm. apsc has 11mm and thats quite compact, but its ff value is still 16mm,
Agreed. They need to develop a stabilised UWA lens at f4 at 350g max.
That is why Sony released the FE 2.8/24, 2.5/40, and 2.5/50 compact lenses. The FE 4/16-35 power zoom and 1.8/20 were also designed with the goal of smaller and lighter lenses that cater to the desires of videographers and photographers, “content creators”.
Back in the day, there was indeed a limited selection of lenses for the Sony mirror less system. That’s not the situation today. If Sony’s offerings aren’t enough, there is a growing catalogue of modern third-party lenses and a wealth of old-school inexpensive manual lenses that can be easily adapted. The Sony Alpha system has come of age.
@@ericmcclellan5391 situation is definitely better, and there are plenty of wide lenses, smaller too. but my take was that for properly utilizing the new AI tracking features, youll need to go wider than 20 mm at least- 16mm, 14mm ideally so the camera can do the cropping properly. existing lenses aren't that wide and the widest you mentioned, 16-35, is still quite big and heavy. there is a lot of room here for sony and other companies to come up with wider, smaller lenses. 24mm isn't going to cut it, even if its a small lens. at least not if youre going to use those new announced features.

I am still facing overheat program for ZV-E1 that I bought in Jakarta (Sony store at Gandaria City Mall).
Ok, we already know the name, some of it's features, and the main point: That it's using the same sensor as the Sony A7SIII/FX3... but, what is it CUTTING DOWN/ELIMINATING to get the price below $2500, besides the second card slot??? Hoping and praying that it's using the newest BIONZ processor found in all Sony's latest cameras.... Also Sony, P-L-E-A-S-E UPDATE US on NEW FIRMWARE for the ALPHA ONE... PLEASE!!

@@RiceCubeTech You're overlooking a couple of things: First, the Nikon sensor is made by Sony lol! 2nd and more importantly: The IMX610 proprietary sensor used in the A1 is the same sensor used in Sony's Venice II Cinema camera module - there's just NO WAY Sony would ever let a 'Prosumer' camera - even one that costs $6500! - have the same tech featured in their Flagship Cinema Camera...
@@ajalbetjr I was told that the Venice and the A1 have similar but are very much not the same sensor. Which is why the A1 has better lowlight performance but is a little worse when it comes to DR and other things. They built the sensors a bit differently.
@@ajalbetjr beyond that, sensor isn’t necessarily what dictates frame rate. More so processing/cooling. Of which the A1 should have ample enough.
Beyond that, shooting 8k60p doesn’t even put the A1 close to the Venice. It still is missing 90 percent of what makes a cinema camera, a cinema camera. Internal pro res or raw, open gate, DCI 4K, DCI 8K, Timecode, SDI, internal NDs, etc.
Imo Sony update if the A1 shouldn’t even remotely compete with the Venice

I expected this new cam tomorrow to be roasted @Gerald Undone and by others for being underwhelming. It won't be as good as or better value than the Panasonic S5 II. So what's the point Sony? I love Sony Alpha and I'm loyal owner of A7 III but I'd rather wait for a much developed camera than filler cams(that are inadequate) just so that they can follow timelines of releasing new cams.
it's all about image stabilization and autofocus. What S5 II can offer in this subject? What about the same and unique sensor of S7sIII?
@@XDarkmage1the image stabilization is insane on the Panasonic lol. Autofocus is third to canon and Sony so it’s very much useable. The sensor on the S5II can shoot in 6.3K pro res. That’s a really solid camera. And it can shoot open gate. And it’s the same price this is.
This camera sucks lol. If this came out at 1800 it would be a steal.

If Price wasn’t $700 difference body only , I’ll pick the A7iv. But I know I can’t go wrong with that fx30. Looks beautiful and video quality is top tier.

I am disappointed. Sony has a number of full frame cameras however an updated version of the Sony RX10 iv is long overdue. Hope Sony will be releasing the successor to the RX10 iv. As I don’t want a camera that I have to buy and carry multiple lenses. This camera has a lot of great things built into it that would make an amazing Bridge camera.
Dear Sony, give us some PZ 16-35 FE lens in f1.4 / 1.8 or at least within 2.0 and price under 1k$ 😊😊

I am so confused :-/ this seems amazing, but I just bought a a7IV two weeks ago, and apart from the slightly lower resolution this seems better!?!? My brain feels like it's going to explode right now.
The A7IV is a hybrid camera that takes perfect photos, and this is a video camera for vloggers. For kids who record for TH-cam, this is too expensive anyway.
Why is Sony withholding software feature updates from their pro cameras? As it stands, I'm not investing more in E-mount and will look at other systems when it's time to upgrade bodies.

You should fix the problem that unable to display marker, zebra, and peaking to external display. And more important you should make an alternate UI for external display, not just to output the 3:2 screen to external monitor with 16:9 aspect ratio. This is so stupid.
