    Glad to know the A7IV is still beasting over most in its range. Still jealous over the video capabilities on the A7RV though

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  ปีที่แล้ว

      A7IV wasn't ground breaking yet still seems to keep up and excel in so many areas

    • @navpreetsingh8156
      @navpreetsingh8156 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jason Morris yea but that being said the ZV-E1 isn't groundbreaking, it's actually a big step back, you cant sell a camera that can shoot outside for 15 minutes but at the same time say it can so 4k 120 in the future, for about 2 minutes I'd imagine just remember how much stick the Canon cameras get

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@navpreetsingh8156 it’s a vlogging camera and designed for short bursts. Like a Ferrari trying to do off-road four wheel driving. Wasn’t designed to constantly record. Just have to understand it’s limitations

    • @navpreetsingh8156
      @navpreetsingh8156 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JasonMorrisphotocinema totally get what you're saying but 4k 60 with any form of stabilisation would require to keep your vlogs short right? So it caters for vloggers who need to keep their sentences short and if you get it wrong first time then the camera is only getting warmer reducing your recording time the next go, an example would be what you do, you make videos that I'd imagine take multiple takes so you're actually not just shooting short scenes because you would also be re-shooting and that would be the bigger issue, this camera is one big limitation, every single product has its use or purpose that but that doesn't mean they are good at it

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@navpreetsingh8156 completely agree. It would pose a concern for multiple takes. I certainly wouldn’t recommend having a 60fps timeline anyway. More so 24,25 or 30fps timeline and using 60fps as broll for slow motion on the timeline

    For a hybrid shooter like me (80% photos 20% video), the A7IV is an absolute beast. It has allowed me to practice colour grading (4:2:2 10-bit) and 4k60p for that UHD slow motion. I don't personally mind the Super 35 crop. I have a ZVE10, so the crop lenses have dual purpose. Overall its just perfect for me. The only thing I hate is that the 10fps is only with Compressed RAW (I shoot fast bikes and birds a lot). That irritates me like no tomorrow.

    All of those milking videos telling what we ve already know but nobody tests the most important thing , the camera outside in the sun , Noone has time to prepare the room to 21 degrees celsius to film a 10 minute video in slowmo 60fps , real world , 30-35 degrees celsius , 4k 60, if i want to vlog in the summer I film 5 minutes , its shuts off then wait how much ?

      That is what I said in my initial review if you watched it. I have some of the most REAL WORLD use of this camera as I have had it for over 3 weeks and used it in MANY scenarios. I even spoke to Sony product development in person in Japan about the overheating issues I have concerns with. They know about this and I have explained this in every single video I have made. I am not hiding this FACT. So don't come at me and tell me what you think you know. @@JasonMorrisphotocinemaHi Jason, appreciate what your doing and the info is good... but the truth is we just won't know how this camera will perform in full summer conditions in Australia before early January next year. If it's overheating on a mild autumn day in the sun, then what's going to happen to run times when ambient is 39deg plus and in the direct sun well over 50deg. I'll wait for those tests before I buy one because I remember the Canon debacle where the camera would overheat in 10 mins at any 4K resolution then you'd have to wait half an hour to get any useful runtimes again.

    If you want a proper camera, get the A7IV. I just bought two of them. One for gimbal video and the other for stills. If you want a high performance compact, get the A7C because it is made of metal, has much better buttons and dials, full size sensor and higher resolution. I bought three of those too for using as B, C and D video camera angles. All for weddings. The ZV-E1 is good for vlogging but even though it seems amazing all around, it's flimsy plastic body and lack of dials and switches will make it a bit awkward for professional use. And no EVF on the ZV-E1 is practically a no no if you intend to shoot stills. There's nothing to beat the stability of sniper shooting with tele lenses by using the EVF and holding the camera properly. It makes me cringe when I see pro stils shooters always using only the screen. It just seems snappy and you know it's not going to be as crisp a shot for camera motion blur. Lastly, the lack of a mechanical shutter is a massive no no for stills in artificial light. The banding is horrendous. It's not as bad sometimes on the A7IV in E-Shutter mode, but I wouldn't ever use that mode for stills. I'm not scared of racking up the shutter count. My current EOS 5D mkIII is getting close to a million actuations and is still going strong.

    When you test for overheating, can you implement using a dummy battery and external monitor to verify if they help. Also, how recording vs streaming (and both together) overheats.
    Finally, how is using 1080p as it is the only camera that can Oversample from 4k so still worthwhile to use. Does 1080 overheat in anyway as that might be a little superpower.

    The sad thing about all this new technology that Sony is piece mealing into these new cameras means that the consumer will never get a masterpiece of a camera like the Sony a7iii again. That camera changed the game and forced Canon and Nikon to step up their games and provide more value to their loyalists to stem the tide of them becoming Sony converts. I would love to have some of the newer technology but incremental improvements are a no for me. That doesn’t mean I am waiting but it means that I might not buy another new camera for a couple of years until all these improvements become standard.

    As far as a 12mp sensor. What’s the difference between cropping in on a photo, and cropping in on a still screenshot from a 4k video?
    Currently on my iPhone instead of taking product shots I actually just record it with my video and then whenever I am editing the video I just go frame by frame to find the perfect shot and then I just save that as a still. I’ve always wondered what the difference between doing that, and just taking a photo. Video for me is easier. It seems like cropping in on 4k wouldn’t be bad. But since it’s 12mp maybe there’s no difference.

    It is a big disappointed point that new ZVE1 has only 12MP and it is a $2600-3000 camera. This is a downside and people may prefer the sony a7iv which takes better photos. Most people take more photos than videos. In my trips to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Czech Republic and Jordan-Petra i took more than 5000 pictures and probably 10 videos. So, i think Sony a7iv would be more useful for 95% of people. I guess the biggest advantage of Sony EV1 is the Artificial Intelligence, smaller size and the dynamic image stabilization which is used actually more for videos.

    I can understand the AI stuff not coming to older cameras via firmware....but for instance......the new stabilization.....there's no reason they can't bring that to older cameras like the a7iv....since it's pretty much entirely software based.

    • @JasonMorrisphotocinema
      @JasonMorrisphotocinema  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is only if the new AI processor is needed. The older cameras may not handle this. It could also be marketing. As a business they won't make money giving every single feature to every single camera. I see it from both sides. As a consumer myself it does suck but I see it from a business stand point too. The perfect camera won't exist as it would cost an arm and a leg.
