2023 this song will never get old
I agree because I am a qualified lesbian
March 2024 and this song still ROCKS!!
May 2024 too
No matter how sad or low I feel, this song always puts a big smile on my face ❤

This song and band brings back many happy memories for me, happy ones.
No matter how lousy a day I'm having, hearing Come On Eileen can make me happy.

❤
I play it constantly in my ear buds at work. Day is so much smoother
One of the great classics of the 80s...performed live!
I don't believe this is live but pre-recorded. I hear a brass section but there isn't one in the video.
@@robertgrayson4406 The brass could have been off camera. Unlike many performances of this sort *this* one clearly isn't just lip syncing.
@@jackfitzpatrick8173 Sorry but they are playing to a backing track at minimum. I'm a musician and have run sound for years. That is not a completely live performance. The sound is too full and mixed for what they have on stage. I'm sure they are playing along but we are also hearing a studio track. Here is a live version th-cam.com/video/C3rg4psdHxw/w-d-xo.html
@@jackfitzpatrick8173 nope
this song was on permanent rotation for all weddings in the 80s and 90s/
Dexy every time he sings this song he puts his heart into it , great song
nobody in the Band is named "Dexy"
Ahhh the Fabulous 80s when music was diverse original and fun. Loved it No better decade. This song was the epitome of that. Originality in the respect of having a billboard No 1 hit featuring banjo and violins and still forty years later being enjoyed at bars and weddings. Bravo Dexys well done

It STILL is you old grump
A world that no longer exists.
Incredible musicians especially the singer and drummer
I love this song.👌
Live performance
I've never seen such a YOUNG Sandi Toksvig !!!
Before she got a bit bitter!

I’m Eileen,! Yes being a teenager this tormented us😂 but now I bloody love it 🥰
Yes, cos now you enjoy being come on.
I knew a girl called Irene who still hates this song! It’s not even her name…
Mind you… when I married my second wife called Karen, the registrar twice called her Carol and corrected herself.
You guessed it, my first wife is called Carol.
Ohh wow. I've watched QI for years and as soon as I heard that voice, I didn't even have to look at the screen to know it was her haha. Sandy, what a legend she is.
This tune never got old to me.
Knocked Michael Jackson's Billy Jean off the charts for a couple months.
Actually Come on Eileen knocked off Billie Jean for only a week.
What a great versus compared to today's charts.
even the king gets knocked off sometimes
@@abraham_benson_official Actually "Come On Eileen" took over number one from "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. It held on for a week before Michael Jackson returned to the top of the chart with his "Beat It." & Not Billie Jean.

One of most beautiful things I ever seen and hear
Abraços aqui do Brasil.
That was a great era of music but this song is right up there with one of the best ever... it's iconic.

the best live version of this song

This is a great live version. Love that Phil Collins played drums with them on this recording.
One of my favorite songs
If I am driving for any length of time, I will eventually hear this song on the radio. Never get tired of it. I hope they had a good contract and get royalties regularly.
God I love this song 😭💜
❤❤
I never looked at this song closely for 41 years. I just danced and sang the only 3 words I knew. After reading about the origins and watching videos like this one… I understand it much better now. Brilliant. This is great art.
This is an excellent version of this song. I never heard it before.
I will always remember this song blasting out my mum and dad's stereogram. Every disco I went to had that song playing , I done a few disco's as well. I played this folk love it!

Holy F. I could tell that was Sandi by her voice, but further by her hand movements while she talked!
I JUST FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM ALL OVER AGAIN!YOU STILL GIVE ME GOOSE BUMPS!❤️❤️❤️
during the first 30 seconds or so i was convinced this was a playback effort, mimicking against pre-recorded original song. Once the differences start kicking in..WOW! This was actually how good and tight they played. Real musicians
there's a perceptible change in the sound at 3:21. then it comes back at 3:34. they were using a base to play over it.
❤ And iv bn dancing to this for the last 40 year's 😮🎉❤
Come on Eileen
Come on Eileen
Poor old Johnny Ray
Sounded sad upon the radio
He moved a million hearts in mono
Our mothers used
To sing along, who'd blame them
You're grown (a grown up),
So grown (so grown up), now I must say more than ever
(Come on Eileen)
Toora loora toora loo rye aye
And we can sing just like our fathers
Come on Eileen, oh I swear (well he means)
At this moment, you mean everything
You in that dress, oh my thoughts I confess
Verge on dirty
Ah come on Eileen
Come on Eileen
These people round here
Wear beaten down eyes
Sunk in smoke dried faces
Resigned to what their fate is
But not us (no never), no not us (no never)
We are far too young and clever
Remember
Toora loora toora loo rye aye
Eileen I'll hum this tune forever
Eileen I'll hum this tune forever
Come on Eileen oh I swear (well he means)
Ah come on, let's take off everything
That pretty red dress, oh Eileen tell him yes
Ah come on let's, Ah come on Eileen
Come on Eileen oh I swear (well he means)
At this moment you mean everything
Come on Eileen too-loo rye-aye
Come on Eileen too-loo rye-aye
Toora toora-too-loora
Oh, Eileen
Oh, Eileen
We are far too young and clever
And things wont ever change
I say toora loora toora loo rye aye
Come on Eileen, oh I swear (well he means)
At this moment, you mean everything to me
You mean everything
This is a good example of how people's minds work so different and I'm so glad, I'm 67 and have always loved this song
With my 69 years I can only think of Eileen in the Dublin Disco.....
2023 still fantastic
for you dave brook miss you loads
Amazing live version
This is probably one of the best live version of the song I know the other one was horrendous not sure if in that situation his voice kind of gave out but
Yeah it’s not live but still a good version.
@Uncle Gilbert how did you get that impression? they stop and start within the song and it's not the same version as the studio one.
@@thecoach1683 The bass player's bass isn't plugged in and there's no amplifier lol. The backing track is obviously a tape.
@Uncle Gilbert I played back both versions side by side for fun, and yes the lead vocal track sounds identical, but the instruments and background vocals are not. For example the piano crescendo at 1:00 is completely different.
@Uncle Gilbert What are you even talking about? The cable is plugged in and going down the back of his leg. You also haven't addressed the piano yet. Don't be jerk.
This is such a cool song and performance! 😊
Absolute Banger 🔥
Why have I find 15 years without seeing this masterpiece...
Brilliant band. Great hits.
Listen to this song 🎶 every day
We are much too young and clever (or so it seemed) brilliant lyrics.
I can see that Billy likes the way Sandi looks. He can’t stop looking at her while slightly smiling
Felicidades
I love this song, thanks londonnnn
Greatest hit in the history of the UK (with "Blue Boy" from Orange Juice!)
Remember watching this on a Saturday morning age 8.
Love ❤️ his voice
This must be a very big coincidence, I was looking for this song from a top 80s and came across this show is where Neil Buchanan from my childhood show Art Attack was starring on it.
PERFECT ♥

Masterpiece!!
Back when there was no autotune.

Such a beautiful song 🎶
Increibleee 🥰😍
the band sounded so good in live
1981
@Uncle Gilbert There's definitely a backing track but I think they're playing and singing live over the top of it
The track used is a live version from the deluxe version of too rye ay that came out a few years ago.
Never watch the live version in their official channel
Come on, Eileen

Come On Eileen" is a song by the English group Dexys Midnight Runners (credited to Dexys Midnight Runners and the Emerald Express), released in the United Kingdom in June 1982[3] as a single from their second studio album Too-Rye-Ay. It reached number one in the United States and was their second number one hit in the UK, following 1980's "Geno". 🎸🎷🥁🎶❤️
