I have happy memories of that song. A few months after my father passed, my mum and I managed to pay off our mortgage for our house with hard work. Shortly before midnight we transferred the last sum and danced to this song at 12 o'clock sharp, singing along at the top of our lungs. The 80s were great, a time when society was still okay and livable. But once we entered the 21st century things went downhill...
This song is honestly so wholesome, I love it! The only sliver of irony in the lyrics, is the acknowledgment that the house you grew up in won't always be there for you, which only adds to the sentiment of the song. It's nothing cynical, very sweet!
This song unlocks great memories and smells and being happy for me as a kid. Dancing around singing with my Mom. That's takes me back 40 + years. Music has great power

I'm 64 years old.....this song is like a time machine, it takes my stress away and if I try to find something in my computer drop list, and I cannot find anything for my anxiety, I just look for "My House" and I get my heart recharge again...!!!!!!! 10+
I love this song. It reminds me of when I was a teenager and I used to watch video on an old black and white TV. I liked the composition, for me it's a magical mix that envelops my being every time I listen to it. It reminds me of when I saw the world through an old TV and dreamed of being part of it.
I remember, in the school band, we play this song as the last song of our little concert. I was play the piano and I had to play the first thing alone with the bass at...maybe 12 years old. I remember my hands where shaking and sweeting gallons but I did it without any mistakes. The euphoria in playing this song is incredible.
I love this song. As with a lot of great songs, it's a lot of fun, but it's also a little melancholic. We all remember "our house," a home full of everyone who was important to you at that point in time. Little things ring true, the mother is the real queen of the castle who looked after everyone else, and how is she first described? Tired. There's usually a crowd, always something happening in those good old days with everyone together, but brother's got a date to keep and can't hang around. One child goes, then the rest, onto their own lives. "Our house" is never quite the same, but that's okay. Hopefully, each of the kids will go on to create their own houses that their kids can sing about. As long as we made the most of it, we'll always have "our house," in our hearts, and we're lucky because some people never did.
I lived in England for a few years in the mid-90s, well after this song was in the charts. Yet, each time I hear it, I'm transported back to England in my mind, it's just such a great song and just has such a feel to it. Cheers!

This was early 80s, right? Love the song, still rings in my mind...
That piano opening and then the bass comes in with a weird grip and him smiling like there's no tomorrow... Fucking fantastic !
The 80s were great, a time when society was still okay and livable. But once we entered the 21st century things went downhill...
1982.
didn’t realize this was madness. a touch of madcap in the video. the serious heartfelt new wave 80s tone completely overshadows the reggae
I bought their first album 1978. It was good, but I could not imagine, that they are going to release this kind of song four years later. Masterpiece.
This song is honestly so wholesome, I love it! The only sliver of irony in the lyrics, is the acknowledgment that the house you grew up in won't always be there for you, which only adds to the sentiment of the song. It's nothing cynical, very sweet!
This song just randomly popped into my head tonight so of course I had to go to TH-cam and play it.
Yup, same here ;)
@@johnmolenaar3810 same here!
Weird. This same song just popped up in my head the day after Hurrican Ida. I hadn't heard this song in decades! Strange.
Same lol

Surely not? But if so, lovely stuff.
When the song is so British it turns a Yugoslav into a Yugo-lad
Probably one of the greatest songs ever written, reminds me so much of my life growing up at home in the 80’s!
Damn, making me cry remembering the old days...but tears of joy!
This song unlocks great memories and smells and being happy for me as a kid. Dancing around singing with my Mom. That's takes me back 40 + years. Music has great power
Lyrics:
God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.

wrong band, that's the Sex Pistols
One of my favorite songs. So youthful and so contagious. And the video is pure '80s nonsense. I love it.
This is one of the best songs I've heard all year😭
Seen from France, no-one is more British than Madness, and I love it ! Don't change, please, dear neighborouds (? I am not sure that what I wrote is really English, and hope you understood me) ... May Madness and the Crunch last forever !
This is the happiest intro for a song ever. Love it.

I'm 64 years old.....this song is like a time machine, it takes my stress away and if I try to find something in my computer drop list, and I cannot find anything for my anxiety, I just look for "My House" and I get my heart recharge again...!!!!!!! 10+
Wonderful musicians!! thanx for the joy guys!
I enjoyed Madness songs in my ska-punk youth (90s and early 2000s), on cassettes and CDs. Discovered videos just yesterday. Amazing thing!
The one guitar player has such a sunny smile. It always rises my mood.
One of the best songs from when I was Young in the 80's . The Best instrumentals and vocals.....
"she's the one they're going to miss in lots of ways" - so true.
As a trumpet player who grew up in the 80's this is just so wonderfullly dynamic. SUPERB !!!
One of my favorite songs ever. I was 18 when this song came out.
I almost cry I love this song comes on.
This song is the reason I have children. It is so wonderful. Love from New York. ❤🇺🇸🗽

British humor is the best. understated, dry. love these guys.
Piano, guitar, saxophone, trumpet, and violins… all before the lyrics start. Just brilliant
Madness does a great job at capturing the melancholy that runs through the heart of every Englishman.

One of the best bands ever!!!! I grew up with their music, its so real!!
Madness - one of my first musical loves. Still enjoying that Nutty Sound after all these years.
If you don't like madness, you weren't raised right
I am an American, I love to learn the English dialect in this song.

Perfect song, so refreshing. It makes me smile every time.
I lived in England for a few years in the mid-90s, well after this song was in the charts. Yet, each time I hear it, I'm transported back to England in my mind, it's just such a great song and just has such a feel to it. Cheers!
60 year old bm and I come back to this video regularly because it's a fun song and as a musician I love the bassline especially the slide at the beginning 😁🎶🎸
