Glad it's still relevant! I've had mine for 10+ years. Just getting back into the hobby, and this radio has been working fine for my level. Thanks for affirming this!
Hi, couldn't agree with you more. I've being using this transmitter for my small fleet of helicopters for many years. Have a lot of $$$$$$ invested in my birds and the DX6i is second to none in meeting my needs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Cool vid...this is the sexy radio that got me into flying ...never did own one. when I started the dx6 revamp was out..now I fly dx9 black edition...thanx for reminding me these radios last and no reason to upgrade to the new ones they put out.
I am like you getting back to flying in 2021. I to have a DX6i and I like it. It's simple, straightforward and great period. Like you mine is about 7 years old, I use it for both planes and helis. I also like it for my flight simulator. Yeah older new heli pilots crash allot!! I just bought a NX8 and at age 64 years young it's a tad complicated on the learning curve IMHO. Thank you for the video, I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you
I use my 10 yr old spec. on a brand new Freeline F-14 Tom Cat.... which is loaded with features. It handles it with no problems. Its a GREAT transmitter.
Hi, i use the DX6i since beginning with RC flying. And that was 2008. I fly and flew smaller and bigger models, like MPX Funjet oder Big Lift and a Flair Tiger Moth with a wingspan of about 2,20m. Without any problems.
I just got back (drones & just ordered my 1st {of probably a few!}, Planes. Went with the DX6e. 20 years ago, when I flew planes & helicopters, (thunder tiger raptor . 50 3d), I only used futaba. 8uaH. Lotta $$$ back then. I hope I like the spektrum. If not, I can see myself dropping the serious cash on a 14mz. 👍 Great video! U have earned a follower!
Good boy !!! Nice review .I have a cheap but very performing Radiomaster tx16s radio. But I'm thinking of buying a Spektrun Dx6 for the charm it leaves you in seeing its shapes. The Radiomaster works very well you can bind any receiver but the basic version has a neutral form (cold) .Continue with the reviews .Much Health and good flights !!!
I’m getting back in as well and have the same radio still in the box. But I gave more because I got A receiver and servos and charger with mine but it is all brand new I think I have three planes on it. I fly mostly gas or nitro well I have a feeling some of those engines might not be any good anymore even though the air frames are wonderful. Again I agree with you 100% on this transmitter!
So glad to hear someone praising the DX6i. I"m just coming back to rc planes after about 20 years away and of course everything has changed. I picked up two DX6is second hand and I'm about to set up some of my old planes with orange rx etc to shift into the new frequency. I was wondering, there's been some criticism of the DX6i as it runs on AAA removable batteries - as opposed to a purpose built in tx rechargable battery pack. Can you tell me, what batteries do you use - disposables or rechargables? If rechargables what type and how many hours do you get from each charge. Would love to hear from you and thanks for hte great post.
Great video man I still use my DX6i Got a question though, I cant bind it with my Blade 330s I have done the bind procedure correctly and it wont bind. My 330s has a Spectrum 6250hx flight controller so it is supposed to bind with it correct? I cant figure out why it wont bind with my 330 but it does fine with my 230s and 500x Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you
Call spekrum---- I had the same problem----counld’nt” bind with a plane--- they told me how to fix it, it was easy but at 75years old, just can’t seem to recall----- good luck
well, it doesn't have a three-position switch, which is useful for the current crop of hobbyzone / parkzone / e-flite planes that use spektrum's flight stabilization control. looks like you can mod it, though, but...that's one thing you don't have to deal with on a newer radio.
i have 5 of these radios... 3 of them have the famed gimbal issues where the pots on the gimbals wear out and you start crashing planes/helis because they are intermittent.. LOTS of the famed spektrum "brown outs" where due to the gimbals in this exact radio..
I have an older DX6 and DX7 ... are they even worth using or giving away? I remember the DX7 being a piece of sh*t glitch-fest, and went back to the DX6.
Glad it's still relevant! I've had mine for 10+ years. Just getting back into the hobby, and this radio has been working fine for my level. Thanks for affirming this!
Bought it new ,when it came out and still using it today on all my rc planes.
Cutting edge is very expensive

Just brought this today with a helicopter. Was a bit worried but you have helped me! Thank you!!!
I have this radio too and I’ve had it for about 5 years!!! I still use it on all my models like you!!! Don’t need anything else!!
Bought my DX6i 14 years ago and still works like it was new. Love it.

I still have my Dsm2 DX6i from 2010....and I still fly with it.

There is nothing wrong with batteries. If they are empty, you can change them quickly. And keep on flying :-)
Love it, thank you.
Found one on eBay for 50 bucks absolutely worth it
Great video I just dug mine out after years and wanted to know if it was still usable, thanks!
I got mine for 100 $ its great radio couldn’t agree more
Bravo !!
Have the same radio was looking into the NX6 but it's $349.00 and i'm hearing they all have a charging issue going to stay with my dx6i
What receiver is compatible with the DX6i?
Great video man I still use my DX6i

Will that radio fly drones?

Exactly what I was wondering about. Thanks for the input
2024 still use mine.cant fault it.
Hello, I have a problem. When the radio is turned off, the brushless mator its own don't off .Can you tell me what is the solution?please
Does safe work on this radio ?
i have 5 of these radios... 3 of them have the famed gimbal issues where the pots on the gimbals wear out and you start crashing planes/helis because they are intermittent.. LOTS of the famed spektrum "brown outs" where due to the gimbals in this exact radio..
I just picked one up today for $45! Could you recommend me to a nice Receiver for it?
I have a Graupner MC-24 a good friend gifted me for all my Planes, and i just bougt this radio to get into Blade's bnf Helis.
I'm still using mine . Only real drawback is not having a 3 position switch .
I have an older DX6 and DX7 ... are they even worth using or giving away? I remember the DX7 being a piece of sh*t glitch-fest, and went back to the DX6.
I have one for 7 years. It's now discontinued (at least in GB) although I've no intention of giving up on it.
I’m so happy to hear this. I want to get back into rc and maybe do an fpv build
Will this radio work for drones?
This is something I do not know. As long as whatever you are flying can receive a spectrum receiver you can fly it with this radio transmitter.
@@ElevatedTVAdventure thanks
i have this works perfect. .-)
Wow thanks I’m going to get it for 70 dollars on eBay
