Three things to mention after the fact: #1: Worth noting that some have now reported issues (likely a software issue that will be fixed later) with the sticks sticking when switching directions quickly. I didn't notice it in my first day with the handheld (as it is seemingly more mild than for some others, and I believe only effects the right stick for me). Just wanted to point this out since this is just emerging for some now. Read more about this here: www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/comments/1hv04rc/psa_re_miyoo_flip_major_problem_discovered/ #2: Many are saying there actually is bluetooth capability here, but for some reason it just can't be/isn't utilized by Miyoo, but CFW might allow it to be used. Hopefully that is the case! #3: I'm changing the title from "The Miyoo Flip is REALLY Good." to "I REALLY Like The Miyoo Flip.", as new issues could still emerge, and some people felt like it didn't fit with my thoughts in the video. I still think the Miyoo Flip is a good handheld, but I'm especially referring to its realized potential after software problems are either fixed by Miyoo or likely helped by CFW devs.
I would recommend against trying a cfw such as Rocknix for the time being until the next release as there is a timing or brightness issue that can cause image retention and lightbleed to form around the display kinda like a crt effect. Should be resolved once the devs figure out the issue. So maybe be wary of trying anything besides the stock OS for a bit until the next release. How are your R2 and L2 triggers? Some people have reported that they don't always work and feel sticky sometimes. Might just be luck of the draw.

How stiff does the hinge feel if you grasp the hinge itself with your index and thumb, while opening it up from closed to the second standard SP position? Not too stiff - you can still do it one-handed with no stress to the plastics. Transparent plastics are often too brittle; this feels a little more pliable and someone did a teardown showing what looked like a iBook-style hinge (those were very sturdy). I do like this and can't wait for a tuned cfw
Great review dude! The Flip looks like a really solid step in the right direction -- perfect alternative to the 35XXSP. Hopefully price comes down soon though, scalpers are having a field day right now
Apparently the hardware is capable of Bluetooth it just wasn't integrated into the stock software...some CFW devs made note of this on a GitHub page somewhere..
It seems that the lack of Bluetooth is a limitation of miyoo's software. Someone took a look at the internals and it seems to have the hardware to have Bluetooth. They're probably relying on the custom FWs to fix it...
Excellent review. I just received mine in yellow (by choice) and basically tore it down. There is bluetooth just not intergrated into the stock firmware as some have mentioned above. Only a matter of time before we have multiple CFW to choose from. I compared both performance in the RGxxsp vs the miyoo and the Miyoo can play DC, PSP,, and N64 much better than the rgxxsp. If I wanted all my ROMS on the 2nd SD card, do I need to move the ROMS and Bios files from the stock card to my 2nd SD card also? Or can I have them on both? Thanks for video.
It comes down to how your settings are configured, but yes, if you want to set it to SD2, you'll need the roms there, same with BIOS. Most systems allow dual use, just depends on how they're set within the console. Something to consider is that there's always new custom firmware or something that changes all of your hard work unless you're ok with the out of the box experience. In my recent experiences, it's easier to designate a save folder thats easy for you to back up and reload onto your SD card whenever you need to re flash or change things. My most important thing in the card is my saves, setting up retroarch/hotkeys again doesn't bother me as much.
Great video! I personally like that its battery isn’t too big to shave off some weight, the Anbernic SP had some heat issues for the first few batches. Plus if I need more than 3-4 hours of continuous gaming I’m probably on a flight or a train and could have a carry on for a power bank, even a tiny power bank could charge it 3-4x.
Yeah Saturn works great for me. Didn’t change a thing but the software experience in general has been inconsistent to abysmal for me. I still wish it didn't have the sticks.
I'm grateful they do, if you hate it you can get many options without sticks.
this. why couldn't they make a version without sticks?
@@bankbank Because the 35xxSP already exists?
Great vid! But I can't help thinking that the miyoo flip looks like an anbernic device...
I'm glad a company finnaly made a cheaper clamshell with proper analog, trust me slider "analog" contolls suck I have a retroid pocket 2 and it's right analog is one and it's a glorified 8 way dpad
Sliders are better as they save space, especially for cheap handhelds like this. Stupid to put in sticks instead of sliders.
Change out the SD card, it is dying on you. Might also explain some poor performing titles!
This helped on my mini plus! I had a samsung 128 from my gopro I never used, and everything runs smooth.
Deal breaker no Bluetooth
😊
Cant wait for a good clamshell oled screen ps2 emulator
The price is a joke. Hard pass.
It'll drop. Miyoo price always drops
It will drop to 50 or 60, most likely
It’s literally the same as every Anbernic device at launch 😂😂
@@RockYoMomsWorld except no it isn't. Other than that, good point?
@@RCCRAWL-q7g Miyoo Flip=$79. Anbernic 34XX(also just launched)=$79. Every Anbernic handheld launches at $79 bud. But other than that, good point?
Also, TH-cam keeps deleting my reply to your other comment, but the miyoo flip 100% has the rk3566. Just google it next time before you make dumb, wrong statements 😂
Way too overpriced for the quality
The different colors options are shit 😂
It looks cheap. The plastic is poorly fitted. The quality is worse than before.
I cant help but find this device kinda ugly. The proportions seem so off, feels kinda stretched
They lost me with those sticks definitely skipping this one
