In Islam marriage is consider as civil contract and as per my knowledge there is no maintenance needed to give after iddat.

Like your question BUT do you have the asnwer, who is responsible for her maintenance, how she is going to live her life if no one is ready to marry her??????? Islam always standss for INSAAF.

@@pardesidost-kd5sc her maintenance *is her mahr*. The difference is the non muslim woman has to run to the courts and pay lawyers after a divorce whereas the muslim woman gets the amount SHE sets at the time of her nikah. Further to that she gets three months of accommodation and her expenses paid for three menstrual cycles which is her iddah. Its a different story that since muslim women have stopped four marriages they made themselves worthless, and now get peanuts for mahr.

Ulema cannot think out of box solution
Women are left to beg for their life
Question of four women is also theory, hardly one percent has two wives

Because women are not more than 50%

@@pardesidost-kd5sc they did have four wives it was common. And they had bondswomen which was the same as having a wife. Mahr is only low now because women have made themsleves worthless by preventing four marriages. There is no demand for women when the supply of women is high.

Mehr is just a token gift it has nothing to do with the security of woman who is thrown in the street and bus stops for begging
Our Mehr amount is also
A SHAME in rural areas between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 and in this amount a family of 6 cannot have even a dinner in a hotel
No man is prepared to give house or land to their daughter
There is NO Islam in Pakistan
It is a tribal society
Till yesterday Mehr was Rs 32
