That's the culmination of all the hard work you've done on her. She was perfect. The anchor was brilliant, and you had an amazing time. You also learnt that 0.7M sea swells are rougher than you thought😆. What a great trip. Fantastic.
You've proved that you did a fine job of rebuilding her. It's always nice to see you enjoying what you worked so hard on. Working on boats is fun but reason you do that is so you can do this!
Fantastic vlog, you are getting to bond with your boat and the unforgiving sea, you know how the boat handles but never over estimate the power of the sea giving her full respect. I was a Diver Coxwain for over 20 years and you are always learning even the lift jacket test !! well that one worked ? Am in Awe of you all.
You are having fun, making a contrast to the work you do on Sarinda. I didn't see a line tied to your outboard. I learnt the hard way, if you have a line on it, you won't lose it when you trip as you are fitting it to the transom.
The fact that you did it in an accomplished way and you were still smiling that is just grand and will wet your appetite for further adventures. nice crack on
. That boat of yours is a good strong, powerful and above all, reliable machine. The work you have put in to get it right is now giving you the rewards
Nice video guys, maybe you should consider making an anchor bridal, basically a piece of rope and a clip, it gives a bit of stretch as the boat bounces in the swell which makes things quieter and more comfortable. The other important functions of a bridle are to stop the swell tugging the anchor out and to take the weight of the boat off the windlass
Now that you guys are using the anchor, time to set up a anchor bridle. They will take the pull off of the windless and put on the cleats. Glad you enjoyed.
You have made her into a fine offshore pleasure/fishing craft. Just for reference, one afternoon we went with friends from Port Everglades up to Boca Inlet and back in a 27' "deep V" inboard. It was too choppy for us to plane so we ran about 8 kt. Fuel consumption was about 1 gallon/3.6L of petrol per US mile. Your automated "anchor watch" shows how far we have come. Many years ago, as a young seaman, I was on the anchor watch rotation when we anchored near shore. I remember one squally night with gusty winds and sheets of rain constantly watching the radar repeater and taking fixes on lights ashore to confirm we were not drifting beyond our anchor chain radius. Each fix was noted on the chart and logged with time. That was in the days long before GPS. Our radar was accurate to 20yd in 20 miles but the fixes were considered our most accurate data for determining position.
Ah that’s great that you all getting some time to enjoy your selves. It’s so great anchoring out. I know people that have gin palaces in the past and they scared to anchor, not realy boaters eh. Debbie & I recently have had a week off to go to Poole and to see the Bournemouth air show from the boat. We anchored off brownsea island for 5 days. Just bliss. If I Amy be so bold as to suggest you put on a snubber over night and especially if you leave the boat at anchor for a period of time. For us it adds an era of safety and peace of mind. We use two stretchy lines from both forward creates although your boat is much bigger and heavier than ours so you could make up some proper ones lol. So great to see you launch into the water with your life jacket on. Auto inflate are the ones to have I think. Butari looks so cool. It was great to see Emilia she made added a family’s appeal to the show early on. Maybe she will come back later. Thanks for the film.
You all did great and handled the boat well. Simon - way to take one for the team with the dive into the water. Would be interested to know how much it costs to have the life jacket re-packed and re-certified for use. This is great training for when you finally get Sarinda running!
Looks like an amazing trip, I hope to do it myself soon, I want to get myself a boat with a flappy bit :p You might want to look into getting a bridle for your anchor chain. It take the stain off the windlass and onto two cleats. This would give a little bit of spring to absorb shocks from waves pushing the boat making it a bit more comfortable.
As well as the swell height, I think swell interval is quite important as well. If the interval is close together, that seems to be a nasty slapping chop. A spaced interval of 12 or 15s is a gently rolling sea that you can just plane across.
Oh! That took me right back to my dad's fist boating days in Penzance Cornwall and our first holiday along the south coast! Not in the size of your boat! LOL It was a 28 foot boat! I see your have duel controls like my dads last boat he had as he found out, that in choppy seas you could only do comfortable 8Knots! Have fun in your lovely craft! 😉👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Anchor alarm is set centered on anchor. That way the boat can swing all the way around. I usually set my alarm 50 feet past my scope in a tight mooring 100 feet when not many around. it's not uncommon to drag a few feet
Good to see you our enjoying an overnight boat trip. Anchoring can seem strangely unnatural until you get used to it. You are both doing very well. It was great to see Emilia! She’s really grown into a beautiful young lady.
Well done guys good to see you are enjoying the fruits of the hard work put in ... Top tip would be to fix a snubbed line when at anchor it just takes off the load on the winch capstan.
Hi guys, good to see you are having a a bit of fun with the family, together that’s wonderful keep up the good work always enjoy the videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland, Australia
Good trip! nice weather and a bottle of my favorite beer; Uncle Moretti to watch the sunset.😋 The new improved auto pilot seems to work well. The MK 1 right foot, never fails. Till you get wind over a strong tine and fall off your perch.
Its all about experience. As you do more and more your comfort level increases. You now know you can trust the anchor alarm so next time you'll be more relaxed. Its always something to be concerned with as you always need to keep vigilante and never rely 100% on tech but knowing its there as a tool for you is a good feeling.
Oh, what a great video, glad you had a great time - much deserved! A massive confidence booster for sure! And great to see Amelia out there enjoying herself. Be nice to see Robbo again sometime, hope all well with him.. 👍👌 🛥💨💨💨
I heard that alarm go off, and was wondering if I would hear "dive, dive, dive" next. And if so, that would have been the end to Ship Happens...lol Nice boat trip and sleep over night.
DId the swellies in a catamaran once, but we got to the tricky bit at slack water, even so I wouldn't go for a swim the water was moving around quite a bit 🙂
Great trip, choppy seas are fun. The electric socket on the rear of the port side of the cockpit took a good shower during the ride. Maybe it would be a good idea to take the plug out and close the lid on the next trip. Water and electrics don't mix well. Cool video. I liked the life jacket test.
That was very interesting, giving you confidence in yourselves and the boat. Seeing Amelia was great too, reminds me that I have always wondered if her boat got finished?
The more you ‘sail’ the more confidence you will have. Regarding the cost, if you had spent a couple of days away by road, you then have petrol, meals and the cost of an overnight stay. You cooked your own food and enjoyed yourselves. Well done 😊⛵️👍
God has blessed you, truly. A great family and adventures like this to go with it. So cool. I'd love to see you do a trip around the UK in this! And maybe a trip to the south of France too! Lol do you think you'd ever do that with it?
Bullhuss is my favourite eating fish serious flavour no bones my local chippy sells it you dont know what you're missing, its common name is rock salmon 😊😊😊😊
Just started watching this video. Surely yal' will enjoy. Even better after afew times out afterwards. More relaxing once you get the feel of sleeping aboard & doing it more. You two deserve times like this for some good R&R together. Cheers Simon & Gemma. And hope you had fun Lil' Emilia. Dennis, USA. New Bern, N.C.
Fun first trip on your own. The sea state didn't look too bad, but my boat is an 11m sailboat where 7 knots is fast. Also sailboats can handle much rougher conditions than similar sized powerboats, which is good since we generally don't go out when there is no wind (
Are you both twins ?, Could of sworn there is another couple doing up this big old wooden warship. You two, can not be the same two, Its not possible to work on the other wooden ship and do up this beauty at the same time.LOL. You both are amazing, don't know how you have so much energy.
So glad you took time out to have fun with the family and actually enjoy your boat, instead of working all the time. Love to know did you use a lot of fuel to do the run?
great vid guys, heap of questions come to mind, however, Gemma... can you do a Vid on how you tackle and overcome yours fears so that others may be able to do the same ? even, how can your partner help to overcome those fears. thanks, Frank from down under
Fantastic video.I am so incredibly proud of you all and it was lovely too watch you and realise just how much of a journey you have come on.Truly wonderful ❤
I used to have a Antares 12 moored in Pwllheli, went out few miles fishing anchored up .after a hour a huge storm came across the bay fog that bad couldn’t see the bow lol lifted anchor to return to marina ,forgot turn on nav gear so no one could see us on radar etc and when fog lifted we were in abersoch 🙄🤦🏻♂️🤣 beginners mistake 🤣
hahaha Emilia is at the longest axis of the boat lol, meaning she's doing the most travel. she's hard core for being on facebook while traveling up and down about a meter and a half and at 30 knts, she will make a good sailor.
Congrats on your circumcision as Kwaka would say. Ask him about his record time? We saw you zoom past us on your way to Treaddur. You missed a private beach and BBq, a much more shelterred anchorage, and dolphin visitors all round us. Plenty of sea bass inshore!
Nice Gem1:16in "Its 'hoover' Ya Boat Time!" Pleased as Gem! Did you catch Tea, or did you hack into a buncha sangas? Luv beach photos seems like you can see forever, at sunrises and sunsets wOW! The only thing to beat that, is an open cockpit flight at those times or maybe a drone! Thanks m8s, that was bludy bwilliant, way kool catchin Amelia. Missed Mason but. Stay vertical Eh!
The port (red) and starboard (green) are navigation lights. They should only be on, when the boat is moving. The rear Stern (white) light is on both when moving and at anchor. The Stern light should be able to be seen 360*.

Those twin engines are purring like two kittens! 👍.
Yes they are!
Those two V8s are giving the same frequency of power pulses as four “normal” V8s. No wonder they sound so cool.
Why would you spend silly money on a motor home when you could have a boat like this.
Perfectly done! I'm so glad that Emilia was able to experience that with you guys. Congratulations!
I’m surprised how well she handled the rough sea, she should join the navy!!
🤣
Good to see you having a break...and it looks like Amelia has got very good sea legs...if I was down there I would have been throwing up in no time

Emelia must be into fairground rides to withstand all of that bumping around. Impressive 🤩
It's nice to veiw the sunset over water, for a change😅
Fantastic! Thanks for an entertaining video guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also an anchor ball for daytime anchoring.
Now that you guys are using the anchor, time to set up a anchor bridle. They will take the pull off of the windless and put on the cleats. Glad you enjoyed.
Llanddwyn bay what an amazing, beautiful place. The Newborough area is so special you could not have made a better choice to anchor up

Hi guys, really enjoyed your enthousiastic and open video being at anchor, xx
You are real sailors now , my congrats , in the future good winds and safe trips !
Looks like an amazing trip, I hope to do it myself soon, I want to get myself a boat with a flappy bit :p
You might want to look into getting a bridle for your anchor chain. It take the stain off the windlass and onto two cleats. This would give a little bit of spring to absorb shocks from waves pushing the boat making it a bit more comfortable.
We did put a bridle on overnight
Nice Amelia has robbed your bed ❤, good parents 😂
It’s so great, sleeping on a boat at anchor, the waves rock you asleep. The sound of the water against the hull….❤
As well as the swell height, I think swell interval is quite important as well. If the interval is close together, that seems to be a nasty slapping chop. A spaced interval of 12 or 15s is a gently rolling sea that you can just plane across.

You need to make some spring seats for the command centre and navigate. Also can't believe you jumped in. Simon must be part seal, lol.
Its all about experience. As you do more and more your comfort level increases. You now know you can trust the anchor alarm so next time you'll be more relaxed. Great footage guys it was a great watch
You are both the nicest people iv met it's a pleasure to call you both my friends 😁
Oh, what a great video, glad you had a great time - much deserved! A massive confidence booster for sure!
And great to see Amelia out there enjoying herself.
Be nice to see Robbo again sometime, hope all well with him..
👍👌 🛥💨💨💨
It was a awesome trip , I can't take the waves😅😂
Good work, Gemma Amelia and Simon. You're just whetting our appetite for the Sarinda cruise.
What fun! Your guy's ocean is always so calm. Not like our 7-12 swells hahaha
That was terrific. I enjoyed every minute!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Living the dream. good on you all.
What a great family trip! All your hard work on the boat has paid off. Making great memories- that’s what it’s all about! 👍😎
Great trip around Anglesey, you can see why they carry out Power Boat Rescue Training on the Straits.
I heard that alarm go off, and was wondering if I would hear "dive, dive, dive" next. And if so, that would have been the end to Ship Happens...lol Nice boat trip and sleep over night.
Well, that was fun, defo coming with you again!
Trip to the Isle of Man TT next year?
I absolutely love your positive energy 👍
DId the swellies in a catamaran once, but we got to the tricky bit at slack water, even so I wouldn't go for a swim the water was moving around quite a bit 🙂
Haha 😊 Gemma doing the shake and vac😅😂
What slip on footwear have you got on Simon, they look totally cool?
You have more boat above the water than below, that's why you are being blown around. The boat sounds great at speed. 😊
i hope you all enjoyed your trip it was amazing watching it.. and it was nice to see Melia again
Great trip, choppy seas are fun. The electric socket on the rear of the port side of the cockpit took a good shower during the ride. Maybe it would be a good idea to take the plug out and close the lid on the next trip. Water and electrics don't mix well. Cool video. I liked the life jacket test.
That socket is the external shower point so it’s always full of water 😂
@@ShipHappensAdventures You learn something new every day😁. Cool boat, what didn't fall off during that ride aint gonna fall off anytime soon.
Great vlog you two, some beautiful footage especially the bit with the vac! Lol. Boat looks brill, well done. Stay well.
That was very interesting, giving you confidence in yourselves and the boat.
Seeing Amelia was great too, reminds me that I have always wondered if her boat got finished?
Cheers Robbo !!!! Haha!!

Amazing video you two, hope the beer wasn't too fizzy after a day on the water!!!
Beer was lovely! Good job we drank it before it got bumpy the day after!!
Those LEDs under the stern will seriously annoy the sail boaters. Bring it on.
God has blessed you, truly. A great family and adventures like this to go with it. So cool. I'd love to see you do a trip around the UK in this! And maybe a trip to the south of France too! Lol do you think you'd ever do that with it?
Nice. You did it and probably found that Sarinda, with her top speed of 12 knot will hold that sea. Happy for you guys.
Bullhuss is my favourite eating fish serious flavour no bones my local chippy sells it you dont know what you're missing, its common name is rock salmon 😊😊😊😊
a nice little adventure😄
Great video so glad you’re enjoying the fruits of you hard work ❤
loved the video, was with you every moment. Wasnt a fan of the water slap slap slapping while at anchor though lol

love a bit of rough weather it livens the day up
WOW looks wonderful well done guys loved it best wishes
Great entertainment with wonderful video - Amelia must have a cast iron stomach which is good for her - we have missed her wonderful smile.
Excellent video thanks
Great video! That is a cracking boat guy’s love all you do!!
You two inspire me🤦🙈🤩👍🤩 want a boat now🤦🙈🤩👍🤩thank you🙏
You should give the engine its own starting batteries

Just a quick hoover!😂❤
So glad you took time out to have fun with the family and actually enjoy your boat, instead of working all the time. Love to know did you use a lot of fuel to do the run?
We give the fuel calculators at the end of this video x
What a trip!!! Thanks for taking me along.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Just f*****g awesome loved the video just wait till you try that in serinda 😂😂
On a sailing yacht calm sailing, sails help steady the boat plus the keel. That boat as did you handled if fine, the wee one did not even notice.
Thx for the vid.
Wow!!! What a trip!!!
You asked if it was worth it. YES.
“Hoover yer Boat”
Outstanding fit and finish guys - you deserve a "6'r" of good brew!
hahaha Emilia is at the longest axis of the boat lol, meaning she's doing the most travel. she's hard core for being on facebook while traveling up and down about a meter and a half and at 30 knts, she will make a good sailor.
Steve Jobs yacht needs an anchor alarm - drifted unmanned the other day.
By the time Sarinda is done you'll be old hands and ready to see the world.
Wow what a great time. I didn't see any seat belts. Very exciting. Thx for the video.
You don’t want to be strapped into seat belts on a boat!
Congrats on your circumcision as Kwaka would say. Ask him about his record time?
We saw you zoom past us on your way to Treaddur. You missed a private beach and BBq, a much more shelterred anchorage, and dolphin visitors all round us. Plenty of sea bass inshore!

U can eat that ball huss u get them in fish and chip shops that's the real rock samon it's a lovely fish to eat

This sort of sea state around the north side of the island is common as you come out the Georges chanel in to much shallower waters
Well deserved.
Next trip around Britain 👍
Hope you have your port and starboard anchor lights on as well, so that any boat passing will know which side to pass.
The port (red) and starboard (green) are navigation lights. They should only be on, when the boat is moving. The rear Stern (white) light is on both when moving and at anchor. The Stern light should be able to be seen 360*.

The extra house work you had to do was probably due to an over enthusiastic skipper. I suspect he got a few air miles in on that trip.
